Dunno, despite being one of the first to encounter Europeans in Northern America, the continuous wars for centuries, missionaries, famines and the various often lethal to the natives illnesses the Six Nations still exist and theres more people identifying themselves Iroquois than ever before.

Also, Confederacy was not exactly a sovereign nation with its own culture, language or other distinctive identity before the war began. It was first and foremost a civil war, where to the best of my knowledge any way the south's political and business elite was unwilling to give up slavery. Sure there were other disagreements as well. We need an American to tell how small or large the cultural differences between South and North were exactly,.

Lavrov did already threaten to seize the Belgian embassy's assets in Russia.

Russia was supposed to pay something like... 43 billion, lol, euros? Amiright?!?

I met some Catalans on a long distance train through Finland about a month ago... I tried to recognize the language they spoke, couldn't do any better than "do you guys speak not-quite-Spanish or what?"  :P

They were jokingly super serious about being Catalans, not Spanish.  ;)

Out of good old fashioned politeness perhaps?

It's like ich bin ein berliner.

I guess kinda... Except Russian media apparently didn't seem to notice it and Niinistö is hardly sympathetic towards Russia.

Putin last Tuesday when president Niinistö began his speech in Russian:

 :P

Besides that I guess the meeting was the usual, Russian media reported about the discussions on powerplant projects(that the president cannot even decide about) while Finnish media reported about Niinistö's speech on achieving peace in Ukraine and the direction of the developement the security situation in Europe and about Putin's standard single sentence reply to that.

Yes, unlike what is often claimed or hinted at in the media, NATO isn't a single entity but more or less loose alliance of countries that guarantee each others sovereignty and work together in developing and maintaining the capabilities to do that. Sometimes USA and UK have a war in the middle east that costs them several times more than what they benefit, or France pokes everyone else in the eye because they dont feel respected enough.  ;)

I doubt a remake would be able to feel even remotely the same as the old then-masterpieces... Its happened with so many game series.

I still play the old MoO II out of nostalgia now and then, but by modern standards its not an overly deep game. Nor very balanced.

Honestly I quite dislike(ed) the short one-sided wars and how the game was usually basically over by the time first 1 or 2 races had been eaten by what was usually a purple Psilon or orange Klackon blob.

I'm still to play a multiplayer game of Space Empires 4 or 5...  :'(

Yeah however matchmaking also tries to balance the number of platoons between the teams. And theres likely most platoons at tiers 8-10, tier 8 being the overall most played tier. Any lower than that and your platoon is probably a bit more likely to end up mid or bottom tier than top. But the that probably shouldnt be noticeable without taking notes out of hundreds of battles or otherwise tracking the games somehow.

Additionally, Japan would have never joined the tripartite pact. Potentially 23-ish million less dead.

Yep, simplification of simplifications is that the Maginot Line worked exactly as advertised and the Allies were prepared to cover all the mistakes done in the first war. They had more men too, and were on defensive. Nobody planned to slug out another 4 years or give Germany breathing room. Where things were REALLY bad south was how nobody, not even Germans themselves, managed to anticipate just how much effect air force(of proper kind, and when used right) and motorized/mechanized units have. Additionally, modernisation France's Army and especially Air Force were still underway and the lack of proper strategic reserves to use at and immediately after Sedan did not help.

In Ålands case, at least that place would stop being a local security vacuum(it being demilitarized zone and everything) even if we were to lose some taxes. And Taffel Crisps.

WoT is a degree more grindy than WT, especially for casuals like me. I've been standing over 110, M4 (french heavy version) and Tiger I for what, half an year now? First due to loong exping (still 3k away from centurion, dammit), now due to shortage of cash... And I think (and it's as far as tanks go) the grind feels longer in WoT due the fact that there's very few tanks that can do shit in battles of their tier when vanilla, or even historical equipment. WoT grind has one migitating factor though in relation to WT; you aren't forced to fight tanks beyond your actual tier. Say you have 2 tanks of t4 and two of t5, and buy freshly researched t6? In WoT, you'll face tiers according to tank you choose, in WT you'd face tanks according to BR of that t6.

I think its the other way around - in WoT one can at least grind the modules fairly quickly(below tier 9 any way, just a couple of games per module) or by accumulating free XP... And once you unlock something shared by multiple tanks, its unlocked for them all. Also, often there is no need to grind more than 1, max 2 modules before being able to unlock and mount the best gun, where WT forces players to unlock all kinds of useless crap before they even get fire extinguisher and APCR for tanks or engine and ammo belts for planes.  ::)

Sepp Blatter retired 4 days after being elected....

I suspect this means no FIFA world cup in Russia any time soon.

Depends on how badly the corruption scandal escalates. In the end, money will likely have the last word any way...
