Yeah, we don't need an alarm to alert the player.

What we need is a way of stopping dwarfs from eating, sleeping, drinking and going on break in the middle of a battle. It isn't "realistic2 for the army to do that, and it is very frustrating when it happens.

The machine-gun affect certainly needs fixing, but I think the multi-organ super-damage is actually something that affects all projectiles (after all, it shouldn't be possible to cut a giant in half with a thrown worm).

I like this idea. It would give coins more use and it would also be a good way of getting troops that you would not normally be able to use (cavalry? archers with ambusher skill? maybe a group of human drunks as the cheapest mercs.?  :p  )

@ Silver: No, being able to exit without saving would actually defeat one of the main purposes of this game. Toady has made it permanent death for a reason.

I agree, metal beds would be great to see implemented. At the moment its very restrictive andp there doesn't seem to be any good reason for it.

All suggestions that have ever been suggested are in the dev_notes. The dev_notes are infinite, and have a mind and soul of their own. What we see on this website is only a small percentage of the full dev_notes, because seeing the full thing would be staring into the void itself, and would drive you to insanity.

Except the stuff about "teh dorf frotess shud be 3D!!!111one". That stuff is outside infinity, and stupid.


Also, I like the second bullet point in the OP. The idea of being able to choose a background for your character does sound cool, and would be a nice way of being able to put your character into the world.

You don't need to keep them busy. They get labeled a stonecrafter or whatever, but  it doesn't enable to job in their profile. I do agree that it would be nice if there was a bit more variety in the type of mood that you get though.

I think its ok that these monsters die of old age... After all, I'd imagine they aren't so much megabeasts or semi-megabeasts but just a local tale for a specific village or some such that would be forgotten soon after the creatures death...

I think it would be good if you could give your civilians sone sort of small weapon in Dwarf Mode because it would then give you some sort of protection for your civilians when the enemy do break through your defences.

The thing you do have to remember though is that you would have to make these daggers. While your first dwarves might be able to start with them others would need to have some made. This would use quite a few resources...

I also like the idea of Nobles having there own, more valuable small arms.

I think having temples has a designated room would be great.

(Possibility of a high priest turning up and mandating things to go into the temple? Broze statue for god of bronze etc? )

The forum is in need of an over-haul. The community is now getting too big for toady to manage alone, and the longer it gets left the worse the problem will get.

If there are mods on the forum, they can keep it ordered and leave toady more time for actually making the game. The people who are blidly shouting "no mods!" really do need to loom at these forums. The community is growing more and more every day, spam is getting more frequent and trolls are starting to crop up. We may as well get measures put in place to maintain order before anything gets out of hand.

If people are scared that having mods will mean a bunch of power-mad people rampaging around locking threads left, right and center just because they don't agree, then I can understand the concern. However, I have seen a few people practically acting as un-official mods already, especially in the suggestions forum, and I think that with the right people they would be a great asset to the community.


Also, the forum software is in need of an update. It might be quite a bit of work to do, but when it is done it will make things a lot easier.

It would certainly be helpful.

And yes, changing room ownership because of elections and deaths might not happen very often, but it would just be a small change that makes it that little bit neater.
