DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Is my bookkeeper blind?
« on: November 09, 2010, 04:15:45 pm »
When I go into z my bookkeeper keeps telling me that I have no food but when I manually look into the food barrels I see plenty of it.
Is he really just blind or am I overlooking something here?

If you can't sleep well on an iron bed with spikes then you are not dwarfy enough.

To repeat myself: It was a wooden artifact.
And you all know how much the elves like that.

Yes I have noticed that too. But the timing was still perfect.

One of my dwarfes got into a mood and created a wooden earring. First I was underwhelmed but shortly after the earring was finished an elven caravan arrived.
Talk about perfect timing.

Dude, it's just a game.
If you want to be extra special nice to everything then go ahead but we just want to do
crazy stuff, hell I decided to download this game after reading the merman topic.

I imagine they string the harp with beard hair. It would account for not requiring any other materials.

Impossible, at high enough skill you'd be making harps MUCH faster than your beard grows. You'd be a beardless outcast!

Let's not forget that dwarfes are hairy little alcoholics aside from their beards. Maybe he plucks the hair from
another body part.

Heh. Just logged in to say exactly what he said.

1000 war kittems will still be pretty useless against them.

But it's still funny.

It's better to make stuff out of stone if you can since you usually swim on those by the time you dug out the first few rooms.

I really need to try my hands at modding.
For I have a vision: 150 warkittens against the legions of hell (or clowns of the circus)

My first one.
I managed to flood it in like 5 minutes.

My dwarfes took an entire season to mine out the first floor.
Some migrants arrived in the meantime and as always I have a metric shitton of stone.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Too dumb to live.

I discovered that they will also charge directly at a cave crocodile just to get a piece of cave spider silk.

The fact that they are too dumb to live is probably the biggest source of "fun" in the game.

Dear Urist McGatherer,

if there is a cave crocodile between you and a piece of cave spider silk it is not a wise idea
to take the most direct route.

A dwarfen live is worth more than some silk (maybe).
