DF Modding / Moding races questions about trade.

I've modded in a couple races but I am having trouble getting them to want to trade. Most of the evil ones will not trade or at least it says "No Trade" in yellow letters on the pre embark screen. What do I have to do to get them to want to trade? I already took off babysnatcher and thief from all of them because I know I can add that later. Is there anything else I need to change in order to get them to send caravans?

Is there a way to keep an above ground pool of water liquid in the winter? I want to make a sort of thermal pool. I don't want it to be steaming, just liquid in winter. I was thinking that a glass window seperating a conduit of magma and the water would do it but I am afraid I don't understand heat transfer in this game at all (if there even is any).

DF Modding / Trading with multiple civs

Is there a way to trade with different civs of the same race? I am trying to get sunberries and I changed the human, elf, dwarf active seasons to all of them in hopes of getting different civs showing up. However, all that did was make each of the civs I was already interacting with send a caravan every season.

I know my world has a few different civs for each race.

DF Gameplay Questions / Teaching skill

I had thought the teaching skill only related to demonstrations. However, one of my marks dwarves has level 7 in teaching and I NEVER EVER have my marks dwarf squads set to train. Why is it then that this dwarf has the highest teaching level in the fort? Also, he had no teaching levels previously, I check all my migrants for that skill because it makes them good for military use.

Is he teaching the other marks dwarves while on duty?

He is an Elite Marksdwarf if that helps but I don't have any of the Champion nobles on the noble screen (side question is that noble bugged? I haven't ever gotten one).

DF Gameplay Questions / Moving full coffins.

I looked on the forum for an answer to this but couldn't find one.

I am building a mausoleum and I want to move all of my current dead into it. What happens when you move a full coffin? Does the body get dumped on the ground and get ressigned a coffin or does it stay in the coffin and you are free to move it OR can you not even move it in the first place?

I am kind of hesitant to simply try it cause I don't want my honored dead strewn about my current inpromtu burial chamber.

DF Gameplay Questions / high boots and gauntlets in stocks menu

A couple simple questions I hope.

For gauntlets and high boots in the stock menu, is the number listed for only 1 item or a pair?
Also, when creating said items do they come out in pairs or singles per bar/forgeing?

The reason I ask is obviously dwarves have to equip two but in the trade window for instance highboots are listed as simply highboots which implies a pair while gauntlets are listed as left/right.

DF Gameplay Questions / Military Burrows Dwarf AI

I have two gate towers and it is fairly hit or miss with the dwarves shooting from it if they are set to "defend X burrow". It seems one of the dwarves has to see the enemies for the rest of them to respond which in itself is fine but they like to stand well in side the tower and tend to not see the goblin or w/e. As well they seem to only respond to an enemy which is within a certain range of the burrow. So I have a few questions about this:

1. How far from the burrow will dwarves go to attack? Especially marksdwarves.
2. Would it be better to have them patrol inside the tower? I would really rather they not as I would imagine it would kill my fps.
3. Sort of unrelated to burrows but what exactly is the pros/cons of shooting from 1z level up. The wiki is pretty unclear on this. Do the goblins suffer a penalty? Do the dwarves gain anything from the increased height?

I got a king for the first time today and some really wierd things happened when I got him.

First of all he arrived with his consort but she was 250 years old and died as soon as she hit the map edge. He himself is 150 which I suppose means he is going to die in a few years. However, he didn't bring any hiers with him. Do they come on their own after he has died?

Second, he brought no hammerer with him which I suppose is a good thing.

Third, for some reason he looks like a peasant (using phoebus tileset) and has every social skill maxed. He was therefore subsequently elected to mayor about 6 months after he showed up (talk about a dictatorship). My previous mayor who had been running mayor for a good 5 years I left in the mayoral suites cause the woman has like 12 kids (she had two sets of triplets  :o) and her husband killed a dragon and soon after died from terrible burns. Poor woman.
Lastly, and I suppose this is a good thing, he makes no demands and sets no mandates. The wiki said he could make up to 5 I believe but he hasn't done a thing but oust my mayor, collect his consorts crap, and putz around his statue garden.

I have made him the broker so at least he doesn't look like  the village idiot. This turned out to be good though because my old broker/manager/book keeper lost both of his arms to a blind cave ogre and everytime I let him out of his office pit to trade I would get job cancelation spam (he would try to move crap to the trade depot even with all his hauling labors off).

Edit: Almost forgot, is there a way to move a coffin with a body in it somewhere else? I would like to put the consorts corpse next to my kings coffin. I didn't have a tomb assigned to her because she died upon entering the map.
