DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: What is your fighting style?

Does running count?

Yes, it does.  You're not going to get famous that way, but running away is one of the three basic elven fighting styles.  The other two are spamming arrows and being slaughtered.  They're also good at combining the first two with the third one.

Get companions, stay on the roads.

Either that, or only travel during the day.  If you think you could fight off bogeymen, you could try sleeping only during the day so you'll be wide awake for bogeymen ambushes.

I guess I can describe what I remember of it.  DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU'RE EASILY OFFENDED (or capable of being offended at all).

I don't think that's quite how that works.
That's how it should work.

I miss the "Most evil/horrific thing you've done" thread :'(

May Armok guide ye, brave little thread!
Any info on why it got deleted? I searched for it and it wasn't there, which is definitely weird: usually threads only get locked.
If there was an explanation, I missed it. I was half hoping that if I mentioned the thread, someone who knew would say something.
It got deleted because someone "won". I'm glad it's gone.

Are you talking about the 2nd "Meatgod" one?  The one with the children and the modded body parts?  That one was almost as hilarious as it was horrifying.

Also got my first "encased in ice" death recently. I thought I was in good shape after killing a minnow, but Armok wasn't done screwing with me I guess.

shift-P is your friend whenever you want to go swimming.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Your favorite companion
« on: January 17, 2011, 09:43:39 am »
My favorite companion is Laura. Well, she was my favorite companion, until she betrayed me - She shot me with an arrow during a fight, and she didnt even try to claim it was an accident.

Now, shes lieing on the ground in a small cave, with the tendons in her legs cut, broken ribs, a broken leg, a broken arm, a broken hand, and a dagger sticking out of her left eye. She wont die any time soon either - I made sure of that.

Damn i feel bad :(
This is the third time this has happened to one of my companions

That reminds me of the time one of my companions stole a titan kill from me.  I took them out into the forest and burned all 8 of them to death.

1. Pick any Town , preferably one that is Highly Populated

2. kill EVERYTHING in the town , including every animal , and Every single human

3.Pick Another Town

4. Kill Everything there

Rinse and repeat until you die or every town is rid of everything , i got 3 Towns before i died on my Adventurer

I managed to clean out 3 towns before I jumped off a temple in 31.12, but now peasants seem to respawn after my massacres.

When I try it it stops after fiveish times. If it dosen't,then I don't know.

AFAIK, pressing ctrl-p during recording essentially copies and pastes all of the keystrokes you've done so far.

So "ctrl-r a b ctrl-p ctrl-r" gives you the macro "a b a b" and "ctrl-r a b ctrl-p ctrl-p ctrl-r" gives "a b a b a b a b".

Adventure mode, where the only thing keeping me from doing complete genocide is the sheer repetitiveness of massacring villages.

I was playing a hammerdwarf (to be able to kill everything slowly), and I recruited a human with a silver war hammer, so I could steal his weapon.  On the way to the dragon I was going to let dismember him, we were ambushed by a troll.  They fought together for a while, until the troll managed to push the hammerman into the water, where he began to drown.  I killed the troll easily, and I decided to swim alongside the hammerman to laugh at him in his final moments.

Predictably, I was still stunned from fighting the troll and I was only a novice swimmer, so I began to drown.  I managed to make it 1/3 of the way to adequate before I finally died.

A fort lady asking me to kill a minotaurlike ...thing ...anyway I found this location but stuck here facing this idle entrance i just cant move downwards.
standing near that entrance the mutilayer windows pops out and shows underground terrain (a MAZE !) .
Alt + arrowkey doesn't work ,there's no second choice "Below" when walk to the middle ">" symbol (which the name indicates"Downward Stairway")
Any suggestions ? >:(

 ....
EDIT: figure out already ...just standing at ">" and ALT + 5 ...
well....at least it might be helpful to other idiots like me   others ... :-\

You can also use "<" to move up a level and ">" to move down a level.  (shift-"," and shift-"." for standard US Qwerty keyboards).

So can adventurers just stack armor indefinitely? That's what it seems like so far when I raid camps.

Not indefinitely, but they can wear an insane number of clothes.  Check the wiki page for Armor and you'll see the maximum equipment loadout.

Adventure mode: The only game where a person, despite having 3/4 of his extremities broken, can use his one good arm to drag himself to and kill a legendary wrestler with a single punch to the head.

You can also have 4/4 of his limbs removed and his neck broken, and he can still move.

Where is the file I can check to see wich skills increase wich attributes in adventure mode?

Check the wiki here.  It has a full list at the bottom, but it's pretty badly formatted ATM so you should probably use ctrl-f to get what you're looking for.

Thats useless.

I want a RAW FILE OF THE NUMBERS. Wiki is a piece of shit regarding that.

OK.  Do it yourself.  Start adventurers, train them, and record exactly how much your skills rise.  Share the data, and then light everything on fire to change it from SCIENCE to !!SCIENCE!!.
