Hit (d)-(b)-(d), select all the cages in the stockpile then hit (k) and un-dump (d) all the cages themselves.  Your dwarfs will collect their belongings.

Afraid I can't be much help there, that sounds very odd and isn't something I've seen.  Did fixing that get them hunting or are they not despite it?

But you can dig downwards stairways there, only accessible when the bridge is raised. You can have a setup where a raised drawbridge reroutes traffic down through a killzone. Very handy in a siege, or even for megabeasts.

Also great for keeping out building destroyers since nothing can destroy a bridge/hatch/whatever from the bottom.

What did you change?  Was there anything that happened between hunting and no hunting, or did you just notice that your hunters had been idle for a while?  What are your hunters doing now, "No Job"?

I may have given you bad instruction there.  I always assumed the reserve options were in there but I've never used them and I can't find them now.  I think I'm gonna bow out before I make more of an ass of myself XD

I'm really quite stumped what could be causing this.

edit:  I just didn't see the reserve settings in there; turns out I never knew where they were.
