 It was a good thing after the killing of my legendary armorsmith, two months later, another armorsmith got a mood and got to legendary. Unfortunately, he then died of a sand raider ambush that just sprung out of nowhere. After driving them back, the mayor then had another mandate on two legged lizard horned items...  >:(

Mayors who make difficult/impossible mandates get to try the suicide room.

I usually embark with 5 male cats.

Once I accidently got 5 female cats.  Then the first migrant wave had two male cats.

Fill in the blanks.  You know exactly how that went.

Wow thanks for the all the information.  I'll have to seriously practice trapping and menagerie building for that fort waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the line that I'm planning to do [y'know, when I'm actually good instead of a noob].

Embark with a lot of ocean and healthy shoreline, make glass, tons and tons of glass.  Then build an undersea glass palace [stone passages underneath obviously] filled with aquariums and sea creature aquariums.  I hope that's possible.  Would be disappointing if it wasn't.

Possible, yes.  Easy?  Hell no.   Impractical?  Yes.  Hell of a lot of fun?  Fuck yes.

It sounds too awesome to be true...

Well, that's a little too hot.  You get a message "Urist McMagmaSwimmer has died in the heat."

However, if they're wearing something with an absolutely insane specific heat, like adamantium, they can.

Would it be possible to use a superdwarfenly adventurer(or 50) to clear out the clowns then reclaim?

Probably, but I couldn't place the thing on a map if I tried to find it.

I'm gonna update to .16 and gen a new world entirely.  I'll post the details later.


If I gen a world that I like enough, I may post it as a community game (in the appropriate forum, of course) and see how people like it.

Of course, if I make a pre-genned world, with my few custom rock layers, I'm not sure how I'd manage to share it.

Nah. SMR gets in the way. No freezing.

The SMR layer will eat whatever you collapse, keeping it from reaching hell.

As an alternative, collapse the world onto the SMR layer, blipping an entire chunk of the earth out of existence.

I take it caverns are deep underground. If thats where the spiders live, how are they above ground? I never dug down more than 3-4 z levels so far

the shallow caves can be as shallow as 3 z-levels down.  The deep ones are usually a lot deeper, and have far worse things the deeper you go.

Caverns? Is that where the giant spiders that keep murdering my dwarves randomly keep coming from?

There's the deep caverns below the magma sea with the Clowns, and then there will be shallower caverns are just caves.  And full of all the nasties you would expect to find in a cave.  Like giant spiders.

Oh dear, adamantine.

It's the only metal in vertical veins, and you usually have to go pretty deep to find it, but each individual vein can be quite large once you take into account that it spans multiple Z-levels.  Sometimes as many as a hundred levels, but usually far less.

Fun indeed.

Once they reached the main level, it took them 45 seconds to kill 60 Dwarves.  It was actually really impressive.

I don't think there is any way I could reclaim it is there?
