(in the right thread this time)

Dear elves of Stonewalls of Armor:

I know that goblin hammerman on that ledge behind those fortifications is REALLY scary looking, but I promise, he can't get to you.  Please stop spamming job cancelations already.

Sincerely, your irritated druid.

P.S.  An archer squad is on its way.

...

Dear Forgotten Beast #87

Please take a ticket and wait in line.  Your turn will be here shortly.

...

I have had TWELVE forgotten beasts show up this season.

Well, my best squad consisting of 4 legendary sword elves, 4 legendary hammer elves and two legendary spear elves equipped in full candy and maxed or near-maxed defensive skills discovered a goblin ambush.

The leftovers:

Hmm ok, it does drain off the map edge eventualy.  So I can just put 7/7 water through?

A child was found dead, drained of blood. The parents are not surprisingly, sad and maudlin. The vampire, our mayor and one of our defenders is sentenced to a beating, if our CotG ever stops planting!

Give him a bladed weapon for this.  See if he cuts the vamp up.  You're better off training up a new defender then you are having all your non-vamps get killed.

I've had cats kill titans and megabeasts, so yes, they're dangerous.

That's because some of them are literally made out of powder.

How about the one made of steel who dodged an attack by a cat off a 120z high fall?

Apply magma to the children.   It helps.  Seriously.

Toady seriously needs to fix this, because I even hate killing game children.  At this point, it's just stupid.

The river bridge is coated in kobold blood now; the dogs caught a thief. A bunch of kids are fit for work now, and I have a new militia commander:

Seriously, she was an almost perfect soldier candidate (Mighty, durable, likes swords, can handle stress? YES PLEASE), so I rolled back the end of childhood a bit. Besides, it'll terrify gobbos even more when they're being cut up by an 11 year old kid.

Okay, WHAT THE HELL.

Wave 3 of migrants: 43 dwarves. 20 of those were children. Nearly a third of my dwarves are now children, even with a large number of them growing up recently.

Sad result of parents not wanting to leave thier kids in the care of merchants or whatever. At thius point I cheated and used DT to make the little bastards useful.

So instead they bring their kids to get killed as useless leeches.  How kind of them.

At least I managed to feed mine to vampires.

Random aside:

Why is my doorbell ringing at 12:08 AM?

Ok, so I have a water wheel power supply (image below in spoiler) which contains 3 sets of 3 rows of six water wheels.  This should provide 5,400 U of power* and use (counting the gear assemblies at each end) 630.  In practice due to the drive train this needs to turn the power load is 1,500-ish.  This is then attached to a series of mechanical logic gates whos load varies between 500 and 3,000 additional power used.

* 100x3x3x6 = 5,400

This should make a maximum peak load of approximately 4,500 - this set of water wheels should be able to handle it.

but it can't.

The water wheels are only supplying at most 3,800 units of power and sometimes as little as 2900.  This is a serious problem, because this system operating is critical to the defense of my fortress.  The next siege will be !!FUN!! if I can't get this operating in time.

Image:

A few notes:  The water supply is pressurized.  I can't just tap it directly unless I want FUN.

When you get more one should become an expedition leader because it has the [ELECTED] tag IIRC.

Oh god a bunch of zombies just got into my fort and cornered most of my civvies in the dining hall.

It's like 28 days later but with WAY more blood, somehow.

Half my map is on fire and the other half is submerged in lava up to 3 levels deep in the middle.  My magma cannon works!   Drained a 30x30x 20z reservoir of magma that took an in-game year to fill inside of 3 minutes real time.

Also, I got a +3 legendary blacksmith as a migrant.  Useful.

I pitted them into an area inside some fortifications and I'm giving my archers much needed practice.

Also, elephants explode insanely when dropped 50+z levels.

Yes, but the bottom is open.

I have not found a creature that can survive a 50+z fall, but the buzzards will just fly down.

If I put a weapon trap at the bottom will that solve the issue?

I keep catching buzzards.  I need a good method to get rid of them.

Also, on a real-life note, a bird just flew into my *closed* window.
