Progress update;

I have had an initial look into the madness this evening. Then I went back to re-read some journal entries. Then I looked at the madness again.

Wow, it's a mess. The surface is an assault on the eyes and the underground is quite Escher-esque. Not sure what direction to take with this fort yet. The thread could use a picture-heavy fort tour and sitrep I guess. Might unpause tomorrow.

It was almost a lever-controlled, impulse ramp driven minecart-drop magma-mist banshee incinerator hallway but one of the greater spawn released to kill the banshees broke all the floor hatches that would have controlled it.

My thought was more to the effect of it being a small and simple enough change that it stood a chance of actually being implemented and making a whatever tiny difference as opposed the poor possibility of success at to trying to promote changing the core system to the people in power that it currently benefits.
Nothing great just a little step. People have said the two-party system is no good previously but no changes are made.

I'm obviously terrible at leaving out specifics though there are only three elements in the example ratios.

In the undecided-center-left voter example they are choosing between, far-left, center-left and far(or whatever) right.

I tried to mirror-switch point-of-view to avoid being seen as having a right-left opinion without stating the situation is mirrored as well. Sorry.

Not implying only two candidates. I don't understand the logic when applied to three candidates :(

If there was a center-right alternative, why would right-leaning voters negative vote the far right?

It would make sense for a undecided-center-left voter to down-vote the far-right since they are then effectively voting for whichever left candidate is leading. 1 : 1 : 1 goes to 2 : 1 : 1, 1 : 2 : 1 or 1 : 1 : 0

It would really break down with four choices though I see.

I think America should modify it's voting system with 'negative votes' becoming an option to facilitate additional moderate parties.

Individuals can choose to make their one vote either for one candidate or against one candidate. This allows moderate people to vote against extremism they currently oppose without supporting the (to-them) less-evil extremism that may end up screwing them over and gives them a place for their voice if they are not educated on the moderates' policies due to limited small-party exposure/ campaigning. In this manner the corrupt two-party system where you are forced to choose the lesser of two evils (turd sandwich or giant douche) is hamstrung. Third-party moderate candidates would currently have an excellent chance to unify the country under a moderate government and far-wing politics would be very risky.

Also, candidates accumulating negative vote totals are severely punished.
