DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Most Badass name.
« on: November 27, 2010, 12:02:11 pm »
What was your all-time badass name? Mine was "Fanico the Blood Brother". He had a steel Hammer and a steel Ax and he had a kill count that was about 2000 people. He died from a gaint goblin ambush at night, and he had a lot badass kills in it. In fact, after he fell, his ax somehow flew out of his hand and chopped off the head of the goblin leader. This song played in my head the intire time.

Yeah, he was kinda badass.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Humans won't cut trees.
« on: November 26, 2010, 10:42:30 am »
I started a human fort (Simply by changing INDEV_CONTROLABLE to CIV_CONTROLABLE in the human raws) and started with 3 woodcutters. I made sure I had started with 3 copper great axs and told them to chop A LOT of trees. (going to need wood for houses) However, only ONE human went to chopping trees. Why aren't they cutting?

DF Modding / Anyone want to share how to make guns?
« on: November 24, 2010, 09:36:20 pm »
I want to make guns in my Dwarf fortress.
Not like M-4s or AK-47's. I want flinklocks/blunderbust kind of guns.

Anyone what to share, please?

(This is, in fact, stolen inspired by another thread for people who didn't get in on that. It was conquer the kingdom. They will have most of the same rules, but i'll put my own spin on it to make it special)

Its time to conquer the (known) world!

Kings and queens of the like saw the chance today. It was the dawn of a new age, and many a people had knew it would come. The kings and Queens had grown tried of their small takes of land. They have grown bored with the long time of peace. It was time they made their move. They each had a goal, ambitious as it was. It was simply to rule the world. And at the start of the age the once peacefully countries had claimed to become empires. These new "empires" all wanted to win, but only one could control all. Who would it be? That is up to you...

Spoiler:  map (click to show/hide)

Spoiler:  Sgin up sheet (click to show/hide)

Note: You will have to keep track of where your armies are YOURSELF. Save the map and put where your armies are in a paint App. Its easy and I will not critize your horrible paint skills.

DF General Discussion / Elves in the Object testing arena are dumasses.
« on: November 22, 2010, 05:57:35 pm »
I had planed out a epic battle between the elves and humans. The elves were going to storm a highly defended human castle with archers on the top. When it started, it all seemed to go normally, but after the elves cleared out the first floor... they left. I mean, thety left the fort intirely and went around their spawned place. Which, did I forget to say, was in range of the archers on the second floor that they had forgot about. So their I was, watching 500 something elves get gunned down by a few unskilled archers while acting like nothing was happening. I tried to get them on to the other parts of the fort with foxs, but they killed them and went back without seeing the other people.

Anyway to fix this?

DF Suggestions / Civ Laws
« on: November 21, 2010, 01:13:39 pm »
Civs should have their own set of laws that special, and on more then one level of offence. You should be able to look up the laws of a certain Civ and make sure what your doing isn't illegal. There would be 4 levels of offence-

1. Minor - A simple crime, you won't get punished serverly, but the most you could get is a few days in jail... (Ex. Pickpocketing, fist fights, jaywalking, ect.)

2. Standard - A basic crime that pretty illegal, but not enought for the death sentence. (E.x. Tresspasing, stealing, Beating on someone, ect)

3. Major - Now things are getting interesting! At this point the guards will attack you, but they won't "try" to kill you. (E.x. Killing, arson, treson, rape, ect)

4. Extreme - Your going to jail for a long time, if they don't kill you first! Guards WILL try to kill you, but if you surrender, expect a long time in jail, if your lucky! (E.x. Assaination of important figure, destuction of important religous artifact, razing a town, ect)

Note that most of the crimes listed in the examples won't always be in that catagory, but they will be somewhere around that catagory (may need some extra programing however, becuase then we will have civs where "Killing = minor crime"). Also some places may have things legal where other places don't. Having done a crime major or higher in one civ and then escaping to another place will make you have "convict" status. In which civs who like the civ you came from or civs who live next to that civ will search for you. After a while (time depending on crime) your convict status will wear off.

What do you think?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / DFrevel quick question
« on: November 19, 2010, 07:53:48 pm »
Not sure where this should go, so I posted it here.

What would happen with the HFS if I kept the map reveled? Would it act as if it opened up, or would it stay as it would if I left it undisturbed?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / wtf is with leader people?
« on: November 19, 2010, 06:30:11 pm »
I had started a new hero and wanted to become famous enought to kill a few mega beasts to get the world out of AGE OF MYTH. I got a few bandit killings after a little time, and I was travelling to report the 3rd kill when I was ambushed. The leader said: "Tell them it was the (Maple something? Not sure.) , if you live!" and promptly attacked me. I killed his lackeys with relitive ease, I was a demi-god with a whole lot agility and great skill level in swords. When I came too the leader, who had the class name "Commander". After seeing he had killed my only other companion (Which was female) I charged him, and then he.... proceeded to chop me to bits. With a Iron PIKE. And, in retrospect, with superhuman agility, I should have been the one who killed ever so quickly. In fact, I had a few adventures lost to an ambuse with a person called a "Master" or "Commander", and most of my adventurers are freakin DEMI-GODS with super skills! My question is why are these guys killing them so often? Why are they winning vs people who have twice their skills? Or are these people really super-soldiers in disguies? Someone please tell me how to stop loseing heros to these beasts?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / 3 questions.
« on: November 19, 2010, 05:32:14 pm »
I have 3 questions.

1. How do I remove my current weapon?

2. How do I equip a weapon?

I got a iron long sword and want to replace it with my bronze scimitar, this also leads to my 3rd question...

3. Is it completely normal for a HUMAN weapon shop to have IRON goods?

I heard humans only use bronze and this place sells iron, copper, and sliver (althought I'm pretty sure its only sliver arrows) weapons. Is this a glich? And if not, is toady planning to make humans use iron in their attacks? (That should make for a lot of !!FUN!!)

I had a problem that would've resulted in !!fun!! if the fort depended on it.
Here's a picture:

Had this not been a part from my fort, or I had no other food sourses, this would've meant a lot of fun.

Any suggestions on how to move forward?
