Yeah the labor is missing entirely from them for some reason.

Lmao... N/m. Its been so damn long since I've properly played DF, that Ive apparently totally forgotten its a subset of Woodworking, which I hadnt bothered to check. I've used DwarfTherapist for so long Ive apparently forgotten how to do without it haha.

Yeah the labor is missing entirely from them for some reason. This is using the straight download link on the first post for the 43.05 version. Just downloaded it and launched, didnt do anything else. Playing as regular ponies. Hard to tell what caste's I've got, but I've got at least two Alicorns I think, and at least one unicorn and pegasus.

Too bad there's no Phobos sprites for em, haha. Be easier to tell em apart, but oh well. Only ones Im sure of are the Alicorns since theyre an 'A'

Saw this, thought I'd give it a spin for kicks, but I can't figure out for the life of me how to remove the 'trees' since the Woodcutting labor is entirely missing. Poking about on your posts/the wiki I did see that I need a sawmill to process the 'wood' or something, but the place I ended up in (a swamp) has them absolutely everywhere and I was going to start off trying to clear some land, and can't figure out how.

DF General Discussion / Re: Dwarf Fortress 40_24 Starter Pack r5
« on: February 26, 2015, 12:15:05 pm »
I logged in for the first time in ages just because I wanted to thank the people involved in putting this pack together. I love DF, and have played on-and-off for years and years, coming by every so often and playing a few games to see changes. Some of the utilities in this I was really sad to see stop development back a few years ago (like Dwarf Therapist). But I was checking out my fav graphics pack (Phoebus) and saw this thread, and took a look. And because of you guys, I'm now aware that not only have a bunch of my favorite (read: almost required) utilities been picked up by other modders and re-launched, but here they all are in one starter pack so I don't have to mess with much of anything to get the FUN started.

So yeah, a HUGE thanks for the work you've put in, both this modpack creator, and all the people whose mods are included.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your adventure?
« on: July 07, 2014, 11:11:49 pm »
Started up my first adventurer game in like forever.

Spawned into a fortress with no exit that I couldn't fast travel from.

Second fortress, spawned into a big empty room in another fortress. Walked out of the room, and ran into a goblin who immediately tried to spit on me, told me he hated me, and ran off.

In for quite a ride here, I think.

(Reposted from the other thread rather than hijack it.)

I know I can press T to fast travel, but have no idea how to use it. I *think* the reason for that is that i might actually be trapped somehow. Its been ages, but I *think& the asterisk up top is supposed to let you know which ways you can move, and I just cant move at all, right? Or is that wrong?

This is what my fast travel screen looks like. Using the movement keys (either wasd or 4862) does nothing.

You can fast "T"ravel.

How though? When I press T, it brings up a screen with like 9 tiles on it, and I cant figure out how to move the cursor. I think it might be that I haven been anywhere? Its been a long while, but AFAIK that asterisk up top left shows which directions I can move, right? And thats none?

I can't wear any of them, though that might be because they're not free to take.

I can't figure out how to leave the fortress. I just keep finding bedrooms. Am I going to starve to death down here? :(

Same for me. There don't appear to be any exits.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / How do I leave the place I started in?
« on: July 07, 2014, 10:00:48 pm »
So, its been ages and ages since I played adventure mode, and a really long time since I've played DF without a texture pack, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to leave where I started. I spawned into some sort of fort, which I *think* is underground, and apparently human, because all the cabinets have large items in them. I've met only one person, A Macedwarf who immediately agreed to join up with me if I'd kill stuff with him. But the place doesnt appear to have any exits at all. There seem to be only two floors - one floor has tons of workshops, the other has lots of living space. But I think I've checked every door, and the stairs are only single stairs (that is, not Up/Down stairs, just one direction).

Am I missing some command I can use to leave or something?

Edit: Scratch that, found a human maceman hiding in the corner of a bedroom, so its not totally uninhabited aside for the guy in the room i spawned in.

Unlucky I guess. I find dwarf armor every so often, usually lying around in the keep of a fort, or in the catacombs under a town.

I believe you need to feed on unconscious/sleeping people using the advanced action stuff (u or i). Someone was talking about it yesterday - if you check some of the vampire threads, you should find it.

Its little moments like that that make DF such an enduring bit of entertainment.

You can pull up ice in buckets from wells still, and heat that at a campfire to make water to drink.

Edit: Also, ice in your inventory often melts around noonish, depending on climate.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Butchery
« on: February 15, 2012, 10:15:58 pm »
Well, Im not sure if you can butcher stuff in your inventory, but if its a corpse or body part on the ground, you press x to bring up that same screen, select butcher (b), press right arrow, and select the part to butcher. Then press right again and choose the item to use to butcher (a weapon of some sort - usually sword/axe/bolt). Then the prepared stuff will be on the ground to pick up.

Oh, and if its something unbutcherable, youll get little messages at the top of the screen, like if you try to butcher a dwarf, itsll say in white 'Youre not that hungry'
