I forgot to mention: The entire road is lined with platinum statues.

They menace with spikes of platinum.

Is there any reason we can't build roads indoors, by the way? I mean, why just build a platinum road outside and platinum bridges all the way to trade depot indoors, when you could have a platinum road the entire way?

(Over which you build platinum bridges, of course. The trade depot is also built from platinum blocks.)

It seems like it might make sense for 'obsidian short swords' and the like to be handled by taking a wooden weapon and designating it to be "decorated" with sharp stones, broken glass, or pieces of metal.

"This is a well-crafted oak club. It menaces with spikes of +rusty iron nails+."

Perhaps a bit. It might also be nice to have Lifting Belts that give a slight increase to carrying capacity, as another thing to make out of leather or rope reeds...

I wouldn't mind floating blocks when magic is implemented; Dwarves building a massive siege tower in order to mine into the basement of a mad Wizard's sky castle, and so forth.

(Or if not that, hopefully there will be specialized bridges that rise and lower with water level, to allow docks and buildings on the sea. Maybe only made from Wood or Pumice.)

While I like the idea of Dwarven Ghosts, I'm not sure how I feel about them being "non-alcoholic spirits"; you'd hardly be able to recognize them as their former selves!

While it isn't too difficult to wait to give custom names until after you arrive, it wouldn't be bad to have.

In a related note, it would be nice if dwarves weren't all listed as "peasants" on the skill buy screen regardless of what skills you have bought for them. (Although I understand if minor polish issues are ignored for a while, what with the work going into the current upgrade.)

Maybe to add an additional task for engravers, perhaps they could engrave small scenes on the statues' bases? Or better yet, engrave a few sentances attributing a (randomly generated, of course!) title to the work, stating the name of the craftsdwarf that created the piece, and explaining the events depicted? ("by In the year 1050, Noble XYZ drowned in a 'tragic' floodgate 'malfunction'.")

Dwarves really strike me as the kind of people that would have a strong oral tradition; maybe there could be a Historian noble that recites epic poems like Homer, and helps to ensure that the great deeds and legendary Dwarves reach the "Legends" page?
