Just a clarifications Notice

We are still in Q0.5. Since people voted to do the expedited scans turn 1.

You can still scan, if you do it quickly, and I'll process it before the end of the quarter.

You still cannot request/buy licenses as we're still in Q1.

Edit: Removed the SuperCool Smilies where they appear.
Also, found that Gravitonium Ore didn't have an entry on the price list. Added.
Also, also, Industrial Sand didn't have an entry in the price list. Added.

LTD-Joint-Corp, Will release their scan results to the public, and we are interested in creating a colony in a publicly scanned area.
Spoiler: LTD-Joint-Corp (click to show/hide)

You're absolutely fine to dump the data on your own, no need to wait for me on it. Just poke me for the brownie point next time.

You receive a quarter of a BrownieBlaster point with corporate for disseminating your already reviewed scan data.

Spoiler: New Scan: 138.056 (click to show/hide)

Public scan data master sheet has been updated.

QUestion to Draignean: is fractional labour allocation allowed?
If not, working from distant tiles can become very inefficient.

Yes.

259
To that end, clumping into 5-man starter colonies selected from 21 guaranteed tiles [...]

Wait, what, did I....

Well fuck.

So, some mild changes to the Labrador Scans between my google doc of rules and the OP.

One, Labrador Scans do not have a three-ring structure. The entire thing contracts by one.  Thus, instead of the 10 scans this round revealing a total of 70 tiles completely, and 200+ tiles partially, it's just 190 tiles, with 10 guaranteed.

Two, Labrador Scans are no longer inaccurate. That was just more of a hassle than I wanted to put into the program. The scan is pass/fail, so if it reveals, it reveals everything it can. No worrying about whatever else.

Three, Labrador Scans detect, but do not reveal, subterranean resources.

If this would have radically changed your plans on scanning, I'm sorry, but it's far too late and I blame all of you for being this interested.

New and Supercharged Public Scan Data Available!

(I'll be getting this into the Google Doc at... some point. For now, I'm ripping off another good idea and adding the tags TURNTURNTURN, SCANSCANSCAN, and PRICEPRICEPRICE to this post)

For their blind contributions to the cause of science, all members of both the Venture group and the Prosperity group receive 0.4 transactional 'BrownieBlaster' points with SiegCorp. 75549 Troubleshooting receives a whole 1 'BrownieBlaster' for the release of their independently funded scan!

Private Scan Data is currently being disseminated via private messages.

An updated price list is available based on the scanned discoveries. This does include items discovered by private scans.

That being said, we would second the query for information regarding the acquisition of armed response crews and licences for the acquisition of same.
Also, are purchased teams single use, or can they be deployed multiple times? If the ones listed are single use, is it possible to buy more permanent ones?
General Joan's Juniary™️ would like to inquire as to what form of strike force it can purchase for 6 credits.
Are licenses planetwide or company specific? What are some examples of available or potentially available licenses?

SiegCorp extends its deepest apologies, but corporate would like to make sure that at least a fraction of the current group of custodians is capable of landing on the planet and extracting resources before offering additional licenses. Particularly related to putting holes in things.

After this initial quarter, you will be able to fill out the paperwork to request a single new license per quarter. Once requested, this license will remain available for purchase by anyone.

Acquiring a license will grant you the ability to purchase that item, and, for 4 quarters after the initial purchase of the license, ONLY license holders will be able to acquire the licensed merchandise. After 4 quarters, the license becomes public and any individual can purchase the item in question.

Response Teams can be deployed until their mortal assets are unable to return. However, there may be costs incurred in upkeep for each deployment, particularly after strenuous deployment.

As for potentially available licenses, SiegCorp could make exosuits in several grades available to workers to increase the amount of labor they can perform, or it could enable the purchase of flatpack drilling platforms to open up or increase the yield of subterranean deposits, or even flatpack refineries to turn specific raw goods into finished materials before spending the energy to shoot them back into space!

The representative from General Joan's Juniary™️ would like to inquire if SiegCorp™️ provided ©️ Haz-Req teams recognise problematic custodian-sponsored ventures (that would impede revenue collection by General Joan's Juniary) as threats.

The representative from General Joan's Juniary™️ would like to inquire about SiegCorp™️ and its views on corporate raiding, both in the archaic sense and in terms of hostile physical asset collection.

The representative from General Joan's Juniary™️ would like to inquire about SiegCorp™️ providing the services of Peacekeeping Forces in order to neutralise threats that would impede business-critical lines of revenue and material acquisition. Of course, General Joan's Juniary would expect this to be provided on an 'as-is' basis with no on-going fees besides the initial purchase price. This would be in line with their ©️ Haz-Req line of products but of a higher quality and specialised in hostile situation management.

1. They're capable doing so if instructed.

2. SiegCorp neither endorses nor condemns such tactics. If one custodian can make better economic use of another custodian's economic holdings, then it should be seen as a moral responsibility to form an aggressive asset merger. However, if corporate maneuvering jeopardizes flow of materials and credits, then SiegCorp will take punitive, and potentially direct, measures.

3. SiegCorp has a number of licenses that could be made available for the purchase of strike forces, tactical operatives, and corporate headhunters.

So, Lasers, definitely need an upgrade. However, looking at the Chord, it needs to be taken to the cleaners, and preferably redesigned as a better ship later.  It's oversized, up-armored for its class and thus slow, but said armor is little more than a thick nighty when compared to enemy railguns.

Chord-S (Also called the Chord-# or the Chord-Sharp)
A modernization refit of the Chord, the Chord-S is a revision of the original Chord space-frame with the following philosophy:

Keep Only What You Need to Survive.

Roomy personnel space? Gone. All armor beyond what's needed to protect against basic radiation and micro-meteorite impacts? Gone. Unnecessary, unused except for damage soaking, structural mass? Rip the bulkheads and leave only the endoskeleton of the sections behind. Life support systems have all been downscaled to deal with the greatly reduced habitable volume, and crew are strongly encouraged to have a breathing mask on hand at all times. The only thing we add is a lot of additional padding and straps to crew positions, because we definitely don't downscale the engines.

With dramatically reduced mass, we make speed our ally. Keeping the same frame means we have the same reaction points for maneuvers, but those points aren't trying to turn a pregnant water-buffalo. The engines, formerly struggling to accelerate her bulk, should find the reduce frame an agile and receptive dance partner. If we need to disengage, we disengage. We need to flip and fight, we flip and fight. We're not going to get fancy and try and make some sort of ultra-lightweight frame, but we're damn well going to turn this tractor into a Lamborgini if we can.

Wait wait wait

Are you telling me that FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY, scans not only complete instantly but further mutate the hideous wildlife we were hoping to collect?

Because I have a jungle settlement to get started immediately if that's the case!

RE: Mutagenic Effects of Overcharged Labrador Sweep

SiegCorp can neither confirm nor deny the details regarding the existence or severity of the mutagenic effects of any scanning technology when used its overcharged configuration. No further comment on this matter, besides to confirm that it may or may not be a matter, and that it cannot be commented on, can be made until the court case of People of Sloan, Arkansas V. SiegCrop Holdings has been resolved.

MESSAGE FROM CORPORATE

Custodians of Planetary Entity 800-T5724P,

Your continued interest in this tax-deductible conservationist effort to grow small business is appreciated. For the next twenty-four hours, all MeatierRight brand meatballs will be buy-one-get-one-free in order to celebrate your dedication to traditional monetary values, quality consumer products, and making the right choice: the MeatierRight choice.

SiegCorp is here with you, ready to give YOU the tools to succeed in giving your personal touch to {Bad_Reference: Planetary_Entity_Name?Friendly_Name!Drop} and right now that means getting things underway as quickly as possible! However, we here at SiegCorp also understand you might be a bit tuckered out and under the potentially non-beneficial effects of what we are not legally allowed to describe as psycho-synaptic scarring as a result of your traversal of the HGMT network, and thus might want to take it easy.

To help you get started, we're willing to tell those rascally greasy monkeys to put crank the supercharger up on the phased array scanner and really let loose for you! This will allow you to rapidly scan the surface of Planetary Entity 800-T5724P with only a slight chance to mutate the local wildlife with the array pulse.

While we're absolutely behind this, just like our subsidiary DerriaDerm has absolutely been behind the finest celebrity behinds for the last two hundred years, we put the decision on whether to overcharge the scanners up to you, our committed custodians.

((Short version: For the first turn, would you like the use of the scans to NOT take up a fiscal quarter?))

A. I like respecting the laws of nature and do not wish to expedite things and have fun screaming 'DIVERT POWER FROM LIFE SUPPORT' while joyfully watching valuable research data collate.
B. I have a sense of fun and self-respect, and will agree to the moral responsibility of overcharging the scanner so that planetary development can begin quickly.

SummiTech LLC, a subsidiary of Apex industries, part of the Periapsis Group, looks forward to a fruitful relationship with the other partners of SiegCorp. As a show of faith, we will sponsor a Labrador Sweep of hex 074:024.

To absolutely clear, you're making your scan data public with this, correct?

Rhigg Enterprises

.... Well fuck. My emotions have been taken out by a through armor critical.

Oh yes. Quick question: Do settlements need to be on land? Can our expendable rubes valued assets harvest adjacent water resources just like they harvest land ones? Are there water resources? How do subterranean resources/investigation work, if you don't have a deep scan of them first?

You can fire your settlers directly into the water, where you desperately hope they spent a lot of time playing Subnautica. The water is, very likely, going to be more resource poor and inhospitable than a land base. Your settlers can, however, walk/ride/drive over to nearby resources in water and collect them. There is no additional movement penalty for going through water.

If you land directly on a subterranean resource your settlers may identify it. If not, you'll at least be told whether or not there's something down there for you to scan, and you MAY be given other labor based options.

265
You own a planet.

The thought is still more than a little unnerving.

Planetary Entity 800-T5724P, quietly referred to as ‘Bootstrap’, holds you in orbit. A holoscreen is taking up the bulkhead in front of you, forming an imitation window for you to gaze down on the cloudy marble below. Three major continents, mostly breathable atmosphere, 1.18 Earth masses, confirmed alien lower life, and untold mineral wealth. All yours.

Well, not exactly.

It’s not sole ownership, and technically you’re just one of the ‘custodians’ who bought shares of the SiegCorp owned planet, but there isn’t exactly a territory boundary that tells you what you do and do not have. As long as you don’t hurt the planet’s ability to make money, SiegCorp doesn’t care what the hell you do or where you build down there. It’s up to you and the other custodians to work out where your boundaries lie, and how much togetherness you’re willing to extend to one another.

A certain amount of said togetherness will be painfully necessary, as, after purchasing your custodianship, you don’t actually have the requisite funds to establish a settlement. You’ve got enough money to launch probes and deep scans, far from enough to actually produce a sustainable venture. A few friends, a bit of reasonable backing, and a little bit of cooperation from the ball of dirt below you... and you'll be wealthy beyond the dreams of avarice.

The station you're on is wholly owned by SiegCorp, but it's connected to the galactic HGMT relay network. All the creature comforts of civilization, all the trade avenues that you could hope for, are open to you.

Assuming you can afford SiegCorp's licensing fees.

-----

This game is a blatant rip off of Kashyyk's Risky Ventures game, slightly modified.

Anyone can join. You will possess three credits and nothing else of mechanical merit.
You can buy a settlement and launch it at the planet for 10 credits.
You can buy planetary scans for 1-2 credits.
Scan Data is private to you until you choose to reveal it. Making your scan data freely available will make your sponsor MegaCorp, SiegCorp, like you.
Unpacked Settlements can be put to work mining discovered resources from the planet.
Settlements may have terrible, terrible things happen to them. Think Rimworld, but you're crash landing people there on purpose to make money.
Time unit is in business quarters.
New points of interest and other actions will be unlocked as the game progresses. Actively attempting to purchase licenses through SiegCorp may hasten this process, as may delving too deep into things that space man was not meant to space know.

Anyone can join at any time. You're expected to keep track of all of your assets, settlements, loans, shares, ningies, etc. All you need to have is a name for your fledgling enterprise.

Hey, DM, Question: Is the Interaction of Acceleration referring to an acceleration in excess of 7500 m/(s*s) or is it for any acceleration that would cause an object to exceed a velocity of 7500 m/s? The equation is written as the former in the main OP, but the wording of the Interaction suggests the latter.

267
Question, I know I made the writeup and mainly said “lol” just grab some Pine Sap and apply it and connect the main body limbs, but are we heating up the resin sap glue before we apply it?,

I think the question is whether or not you can transfer the “fracture toughness” or “mass” of a material without affecting each other with Juxtamancy.

No to the first, yes to the second. (From what I'm reading) I think we absolutely should do this for the trees, juxtematically, and potentially not even waste time with carving them.

They used their branches to move, so why not just not glue their roots and have them use those as legs? Nothing to fail.

Also, in for Zehlin.

268
He was clearly and deliberately attempting to execute cops who were just doing their jobs, and he left them no choice but to defend themselves.

Goddamn. Last time I woke up in drive-through I couldn't execute a two-handed citrus squeeze and accurately hit my porcelain body target, but this man lured the cops in close, deprived them of their lethal weapons, retreated to a tactical distance, and then attempted a double-tap execution.

Do I have to be black to get superpowers? Or is it enough to just be poor?

To Queen Philippa the Fourth,

I, Lord 'Nean, do hereby move to entrust the following assets to the honorable care of the Sharks & Loans company.

-3 Guineas

To be invested for a period of six (6) months, under the provision that such investment yields returns of point-one-five (0.15) guineas per month by the end of the contract, for a sum of point-nine (0.9) guineas.

In the event that the Sharks & Loans company is unable to meet their return, they shall be expected to pay the remainder of the point nine (0.9) guineas, as well as a point one (0.1) guinea inconvenience fee, by the expedient sale of any and all assets and debts necessary. In the event that Sharks & Loans is unable to produce the original investment at the end of the contract period, their assets must be dissolved for liquidity or ceded back to the estate of Lord 'Nean until the full amount of four (4) guineas is recovered.

In the event that I, Lord'Nean, wish to break my contract, I may withdraw my investment while forfeiting one-half (0.5) guineas of the amount originally loaned in addition to any claim to future dividends.

By the Grace of the Lord, I offer this contract in good faith for the betterment of all good men and women of industry.
