Find Nathaniel
Dude... It's not worth it, he's very likely dead, and your character should know it.

Yeah, the ship took a direct hit to the cockpit, Nathaniel didn't make it. You're breathing him.

Area: Passenger hold of a downed carrier shuttle. 15' long, 7' high, 10' wide. Dark, banged to hell. Strange green jelly seeping in. Door to Reactor on one end, door to unknown on the other. Door to unknown is damaged and ajar.

Character: Tarran Smith

"God... Damn... Urgh, it just keeps getting better and better. Alright, everyone, we're clearly going to have to work with each-other now. We might as well introduce ourselves. My name is Tarran. Tarran Smith. I'm a freedom fighter responsible for the death of Harold Szero, and Tamika Bock. I'm pretty good with a gun and I'm usually good at talking to people. Don't ask me to pick up crates, though, because I'm not exactly the strongest man in the universe. Anyone strong? Because I'd recommend you grab a baton instead of me grabbing one, since I'm not really the best at melee weapons."

Get up and slug towards the exit door.

You get up, swearing vigorously to get the blood flowing through you again. You introduce yourself, including your two largest achievements as a freedom fighter. Announcing that you killed people is always a good icebreaker, there isn't much that can be said awkwardly after that. You walk across the uneven footing of the little room and get to the damaged door, you pull on it but it seems to have jammed during the crash. You think you'd rather let Dom try it first. You watch as she sets her back into it with the certainty of experience and pulls the protesting door open. You're starting to like this woman.

Character: Dominique Wakeman

Dominique got up, throwing aside the chair she'd been restrained in. Damn, it felt good to be on her feet and moving again! She rolled her shoulders and stretched her legs, getting used to the feeling of movement again. "Someone strong? That'd be me you're looking for. As I said earlier, name's Dom Wakeman. I was a grunt maintenance worker, moved a lot of heavy shit, beat a lot of people up with my bare hands. And sometimes crowbars," she said, as if trying to make a joke out of it.

She picked up the baton and stuck it into her belt. "Here, let me." She trudged across the floor of the cargo hold and started pulling at the door, trying to get it open. "That chick we heard over the speaker... she one of your people? That shit about chains and cords... that sounds like freedom fighter talk."

Oh it feels good to stretch you think as you finally manage to pop that crick in your back that's been annoying you for the last half hour. Your stretching scatters the golden motes that used to contain you and they fade into the air in seconds. You introduce yourself, you don't know these people but it doesn't hurt to get acquainted with the only faces that haven't been trying to kill you in a while. You grab the baton that the deadhead doesn't need anymore and clip it onto your jumpsuit. You walk to the damaged door with Tarran, and the man called Taric follows you. Tarran being a gentleman gives you an opportunity to prove your strength, you feel a need to do so after vomiting your way through the jump. [Strength 4+1] The crash had caused the door to buckle slightly and part of it is firmly wedged into the frame, even so as you put you brace against it and pull it makes a tortured scream of metal on metal and moves enough to admit a person. More of the Jelly seeps into the room from... whoah. Outside.

Item added: Stun Baton

Character: Taric Sizier

Follow the woman in green.

You decide sticking with Dominique, she seemed alright and she might keep Tarran from trying to kill you over what you've said. You follow her up the broken door, and watch in awe as she practically rips the thing of its hinges with her bare hands. Damn. You notice more the green jelly on the ground, and you kneel down to get a better look. [Int 3+1] You can't be sure but you think it's some form of impact gel, the ship must have deployed it when it calculated inevitable impact. Harmless and it will burn off in atmosphere. The Technocracy may be irritating, but they know how to build. As you stand up Dom gets the door open enough for a person to walk through. The view is breathtaking.

Character: Trol Grane

Introduce myself, see if the guard has anything useful

Wow, that was one hell of a ride. You stand up and dust yourself off scattering the nimbus of light that had gathered around you. Looks like you're stuck with these people, might as well get to know each other. "Name is Trol Grane, I worked as an Enforcer for a casino. Did a little work making sure people got what they needed outside of Technocrat channels as well. Got picked up in an ambush." Well that about sums it up. You think about going into the story of the rest of your life but after what happened last time you aren't sure you can handle that kind of rejection again. The destroyed deadhead won't be needing any of his stuff anymore, and after the woman called Dominique grabs his stun club you rifle through his clothes for anything useful. [Luck 4] You get your hands a little bloody poking through the things shattered corpse but you do find a small knife concealed inside the deadhead's waistband. You wipe your hands on the deadheads clothes. As you turn back to the others you hear a horrible screech, you realize the screech is coming from the door that Dominique is hauling open. You walk up to get a view with the rest. It's just... damn.

Item Added: Small knife

All: The ship crashed so that the door Dominique forced up was angled slightly into the sky, giving a breathtaking first view of an alien sky. The sun is dimmer and a different shade than what your mind says it ought to be... The big thing though is the massive shape of Zeus, the gas gaint this moon orbits. Nathaniel told you that night only comes to this planet because Zeus eclipses the sun, you didn't quite understand the ramifications of that until now. It blocks out a huge portion of the sky, and all but the edge is only dimly visible. The sheer wrongness of it makes a primal part of your brain want to crawl back into the ship and hide. You can't help but just stare for a few minutes. As you take in the scene around you, you begin to understand just how lucky you were. The ship ends a couple feet after the door, raggedly sheared off by whatever hit the ship. Little bits of black and twisted metal adorn the area you can see. Something tells you Nathaniel isn't healthy and well. The area you can see is mostly dirt, blackened by the heat of your impact. You can see what sort of looks like trees but the haze from the dissipating Impact gel makes detail a little difficult.

Drink the rest of the bottle, a little hair of the dog is just the cure for memory loss.

Turn out your pockets.

7639
All: "Alright people, prepare to disengage the artificial gravity. We'll be in the atmosphere in 30" It's barely noticeable at first but a shake starts to build in the ship. In seconds the entire ship is rumbling, as Nathaniel warned the air begins to heat up. "Don't worry travelers, we'll be through it in a minute." The fact that the crazy bastard is trying to be reassuring is suddenly very frightening. Just a moment after you're sure something has gone horribly wrong the pressure on you begins to abate.

"Well that wasn't so bad was it." Nathaniel seems to be talking mostly to himself now. "Through the interference now..." The ship feels a lot different when it's not traveling through space, it rumbles and rocks slightly on air currents. "This is carrier shuttle 188326, warm up a dock for us would you?" He seems to have forgotten to turn the intercom off. "I repeat this is carrier shuttle 188326, pilot Nathaniel Hoke. Requesting an empty dock." You hear nothing through the comms for a few minutes. This does not feel right at all. You feel the ship begin to slow, wherever you're going it seems you're almost there.

"Alright, if someone is playing games over there I'm going to strangle them. Give me a damn docking authorization." Once again the request seems to be met with silence. Suddenly another voice comes on, female and much fainter. "Let their chains be broken, and their cords taken from off us." There is a significant pause before Nathaniel answers. "Is it april fools? I don't have a calendar in here and I don't really know what day it is. Just give me the docking authorization for shuttle 188326." There is no response from the other end of the line and a long moment passes before Nathaniels extremely surprised voice comes back on. "What? You can't be fu-" The shuttle veers sharply, causing you to strain against the cocoons of light as you are twisted sideways. "Alright deviants, there is a problem. They're shooting at us. I think I can get the shuttle dow-" Something hits the shuttle hard and an impossibly load roar fills your ears. After your senses recover from the sheer wall of sound that hit you the first thing they process is that you're in freefall. It doesn't last long, and the crippled shuttle hits the ground with a surprisingly soft thump. Surprisingly soft meaning you didn't turn into a pancake immediately, surprisingly soft is still more than enough to knock you unconscious.

Waking up is surprising, you weren't exactly expecting to be doing that ever again. Taking in your surroundings you find them much the same, if darker, heavily dented, and scented heavily with char and something odd the you don't recognize. The passenger bay of the shuttle survived largely intact, the only significant damage is to the door that you presume led out. It has been blasted halfway off its hinges, and it leans ajar letting in a leak of some form of translucent green jelly that appears to be steaming off almost as rapidly as it intrudes through the broken door. The cocoons of golden light that held you before have become nothing more than a flickering nimbus surrounding each of you. Judging by the condition of the only deadhead in the room you feel that the energy sacks saved your life.

Either someone really hates you, or they really like you. It's difficult to tell which.

"Very zen of you...  We've got a little time yet brownie, get yourselves aquainted while I hail the docks. When the air starts getting hot and the ship starts shaking we're hitting atmosphere."

"When the screaming starts that means the atmosphere is hitting us."

You can't tell whether he's kidding or not.

7641
Nathaniel laughs "Hey, I'm a pilot who gets the job of shooting the gate. We aren't renowned for being the sanest bastards. Shoulda guessed you were a rebel, arrogance, superiority, the works. You shoulda been a different Dev though... I guess you did some stuff other than denounce the Church. Besides, I'm not angry man, hell I think you're funny as hell. Besides, I think everyone else in the back was also entertained by you being shocked."

"Everyone who thinks shocking the brownie is funny say aye!"

Both the dead heads yell "Aye!" together.

7642
"Look brownie, you could be a murderer, a rapist, a torture nut. I don't know, I'm talking to you and being generally reasonable. Hell man I gave you a hat to vomit in, can't ask for more than that." Nathaniel considers for a moment. "They're probably doing maintenance, if they were the size of this shuttle it would take about five-hundred to fill it. Or it could be a couple cruisers and a handful of other ships."

7643
"Don't really care what you do back there, you did say please though which is something."

The deadhead without vomit on it suddenly registers a command and holds its hat out in front of Tarran.

"I don't have any buckets on board, so use the hat. Don't worry about the guards, I'll have someone hose them off when we dock next. You won't be going directly to rehab, your group is being shunted off to a secondary administative facility due to the primary having all docks full at the moment."

"And captain cynic, you might not mind the shock but I will have the deadhead fling your own puke on you when you're done if you don't lighten up. Cheers.

7644
"Probably not for you, maybe though... maybe. You're a social though so there's always the chance you'll clean up, who knows you may make pilot."

7645
Dominique: Nothing.

Trol: [Detect lie roll 4+1] You don't think he's lying, he doesn't seem too sure of himself sometimes... but he isn't trying to lie to you.

Taric: You try to steel yourself, you have no clue what for but you make a good try at it.

Tarran: You let your body relax in preparation for the gate, you don't know what's going to happen but it can't hurt to try this.

All: After a few minutes of nothing happening you begin to think Nathaniel might have been exaggerating. Then his voices comes over the comm again. "Alright deviants, just force yourself to breathe." The room seems to be buzzing, it starts low but then grows into a bone numbing thrum. Maybe that's all there is... Suddenly it feels like something is inhaling you, you don't feel hot or cold, you don't feeling anything at all on your skin. You try to scream your body stretches beyond it's limit, and then nothing. Absolute Nothing. Then the process reverses, it seems faster this time. You feel like you were just sneezed out of the universe.

Tarran: [End 2] The jump leaves you feeling sick to your stomach and disoriented, you think you might puke on someone. Nathaniel makes good on his word and shocks you as the ship exits jump. [End 4] You were right, this is like a taser pulse. Practically recreational.

Taric: [End 5] Whoah. That was... actually kind of cool.

Trol: [End 3] Shit... if you could move your hands you would be clutching your head. That felt a little too much like what that bastard did to you at the seventh world.

Dominique [End 1] Oh god... What was... You throw up on the deadhead guard.

"Wow that was a good one, everyone alright back there?" Nathaniels asks "We'll be at sheila in 10 minutes."

Once again, a round of conversation and or action and you'll get to the moon.

7646
Nathaniel listens to the conversation for a few minutes befoore letting out a low whistle. "Well I guess a few shocks really don't mean much to someone crazy enough to try and shoot an arbiter, don't worry though I won't forget you. I'll give you a good jolt once we go through a gate, don't want to accidentally knock you out and help you by accident. I take great offense to you good as calling me a liar when I'm trying to answer your questions, which as an aside I'm not supposed to do. Anyway, you people in green will go to a different colony than the browns. They sort you out according to your deviation, it might be a little hard with your expediated paperwork but a green will nearly never be sent with a brown. I understand your concern, I might favor execution over being sent to live on a colony with the arbiter shooting brownie."

"We'll hit the gate in 5, time to pray for a miracle."

7647
"Jesus H. Christ... I hope you get to a nice colony of homosexual rapists. If you speak again I will shock you hard enough that you won't even notice the jump. Anyone else want to be an ass to the only helpful person?"

7648
"Hey, I'm going out on a limb here and saying that from your attitude you're a brown suit. Riddle me this, which is better: getting executed, or not getting executed. There is a base there, I've seen it, we'll land there. If they were dropping you off to die the probably would not be putting you on a planet where you have even a chance of surviving. Is there anyone less hostile and opinionated back there who wants to chat?"

7649
Nathaniel laughs. "Hey man, don't get like that, you are not being dumped. You are being given a valuable opportunity to shape a new life on the frontier of civilization. My job is to drop you off at a nice place where your efforts will be coordinated, and you'll be sent to one of the cities, towns, villages, whatever, to live a nice happy life, advance society, and generally do whatever colonists do." He sighs blowing a crackle over the Comm. "Technically I shouldn't be talking to you, but it's either you are the deadheads and until I get enough favors up to request some prettier flesh suits for them they are about as interesting to talk with as a stuffed moose. We'll be at the gate in twenty, the first time through for people is always a little... jarring."

I'll give a chance for everyone to post a set of actions and/or talk to Nathaniel before jumping the ship through the gate.

7650
"You're traveling to one of the moons of Zeus, you know the big freakin' gas giant, I call her Sheila. Mainly because, like a girl I know named Sheila, they don't let me do anything other than land and drop stuff off. You can breathe the air there, it's greenish, the planet not the air. Only half the planet is habitable, and one side always faces the sun. So half is so cold you'll need to keep your biometrics on you so you can look up your gender when you forget. The other side though isn't scalding hot by virtue of it sliding behind Zeus every 15 or so hours, where it will sit for around 12 hours before popping out again. I know this because I generally have nothing better to do than read Technocracy pamphlets and make conversation with Chuick and Larry which isn't exactly stimulating since they have very little more than Outdated calculators in their heads."
