Sure, you can join in. Things are moving rather slow so it wouldn't make sense to hold you back.

(Update for the people finishing up their dialogue)

Hide in the bastion room and wait for them to go past try to get a glimpse of them from the door

(this is a bad decision but my character has no way of knowing )

Up at the top of the stairs, you try to hide from the people at the top of the stairs. Your chances of evading capture are slim, but fortunately for you there is some space behind the stairway. You position yourself above the stairs and watch as a woman in scarlet and two men in dark blue attire (with light blue sleeves) issue forward frenetically, not pausing to look backwards.

They seem to be in quite a hurry. They certainly aren't going about their business with stately composure.

In their rush, they bypass you and exit the stairs-room, and move forward onto the roof. Through the door, cracked open just a bit, you hear the woman asking:

"Oh my god, did he jump?"
"The Fire Department says he hasn't," says one of the men in blue.

You notice that the men are carrying objects similar to that iron you had in your hand, except theirs are at their waists inside leather sheaths. They wear hats, but no swords, and the woman carries a small leather bag over her shoulder.

Who and what? I guess I should improvise.

"No, I haven't. I wasn't aware of that."

Improvise.

She sighs over the... communication interface. "Oh no... What are you doing alone then?" the latter seemed more like an accusation than a question. Her tone tells you that she's probably really worried for this Rico-chan.
"Are you coming home soon?"

Mitsuru nods, her face blank. Artificial what? She stands around to catch the last part of the librarian's speech.

Then she heads down to read how WW2 ended, what notable world conflicts followed it and also she curiously approaches any glowing screens she finds.

The puzzling librarian finishes her statement on a low note. "...cognition."

As you traverse the halls, you find yourself flanked on all sides by glowing screens. People are putting their hands up to them and dragging pieces of paper around on them. Some sort of adhesion force at work.
No... on second thought, the papers seem to be mere illusion, projected onto the screen by some unknown force.

You enter a room with the surrounding walls covered in bookcases. The shelves are extremely high, much too high for some people to easily reach the top. You yourself hardly can. There's some sort of machine quietly rolling about on the floor, approaching people that try to reach the upper shelf, and extending a long arm to grab the books from the top and give it to them. You don't see an operator anywhere.
Dozens of adjustable tables are spaced around the room, in addition to brightly-colored couches and metal chairs with some kind of plastic seat and backing. The table adjusts its height without your input as you sit down.

There's a stepladder folded up and leaned against the northwest corner of bookshelves.

You procure a stack of books featuring hit titles such as "Embracing Defeat," "After the War," and others.
The boy did not kid. The axis powers lost. In a battle of escalation, the United States ended up getting involved, and following that Germany had no response. Japan was a different story, but nonetheless met a similar fate at the hands of the allied war machine. But not only that, Japans society seems to have been massively transformed from the imperial culture of your era. It's practically a western country, relatively speaking.

You instinctively put the tablet up to your ear. It speaks! The tablet speaks!

It is a female voice. The voice of this "Okasa."

"Gai, have you been with Rico-chan?" she asks of the wielder. "He's been leaving the house late at night more the past week. I'm worried for him..."

Ozarck (Di/Hamada) (4Df 3Pw 7Pc 2Wt)

Placing what little you have at the foot of the altar among flowers and strange pieces of jewelry, you await an answer, if you can hear it.

You look down, and see a steady-expanding pool of red streaming down from your feet. But the pool expands in the direction away from the alter, toward the grassy hill. You notice that your clothes are mostly clean. The green hue of your coat stands out now.

Hearing footsteps against the raindrops, you encounter a skulking girl dressed in a short-sleeved shirt and blue pants.

Sir Elventide (Giovanna/Nagisa) (3Df 3Pw 4Pc 6Wt)

You approach the girl, noting that her clothes are being cleaned off by the rain. Standing in a growing pool of bloody water, she notices you as you open the door and step out into the rain.

What will you say?

"I don't think Japan would be in the position we are now," he says starkly, "Not without the allies, I mean."

Finding no excuse to talk further, the two of you head to the Rumie Murakami Polytechnic Library. The glass facade of the building spills golden light out into the driveway. Automobiles are parked in neat columns, and for some reason people are driving on the left side of the road.
Inside, rows of books loom over the heads of studious teenagers who've taken the time to augment their studies with the knowledge of past ages.

Inside, you're greeted by a strange and uncanny new face, a woman who seems to always stare at your face and doesn't respond to the subtle visual cues that tell other people you aren't interested.
"Welcome to the Rumie Murakami Library! This building was created to honor the famed scientist Rumie Murakami, who invented the first--"

"Quite annoying aren't they?" umbrella kid injects mid-sentence.

"--artificial--" the woman begins anew, only to be interrupted once more.

"Well, if you're a fan of history, they've got a pretty comprehensive selection here in the basement. Especially military studies. Journals, case studies, you know."

Heading back up the stairs and remaining under the stair entrance shelter, you remain dry whilst examining the skyline.

The castles of this day and age are far advanced with respect to what you know. They are covered in glowing arrowslits, and this battlement you stand upon is large enough to hold a hundred archers. Most of these towers you see, however, are poorly manned. Perhaps these are times of peace and prosperity in no need of a knight.
You spot no river nor coastline. It is a sprawling sea of castles as far as the eye can see.

Over in the distance you see a huge mountain, a mere shadow of its true glory when obscured by the mist of rain. But its surface is lit by torchlight of many colors which pierce the darkness.

You do not know of any city this close to a mountain. But perhaps they have built new cities in this time. Perhaps your body was carried to one of them.

Down in the floors below, you hear footsteps. A party of perhaps three, perhaps five--it's hard to tell the difference. They seem to be in a hurry, to be heard through the stone walls, and must be rushing up the stairs as their sounds are getting closer.

Waiting on Neoexdeath and killerhellhound.

245
"Thank you kindly. We shal be off, then."

Follow the directions as they were given.

The crewmen not following, your party heads onward into the hall, and discovers the large room as anticipated. However, something seemed off. The room was hardly a hub.Steady streams of rice fell from chutes in the wall into a collection vat at the very bottom. Dull orange lights illuminated the old, rust-encrusted walls and the black floorgrates and minimalist guardrails with an otherworldly glow. There are various paths accessible by stairs around the circumference in the room, all marked by strange symbols, but the whole setup seems more like a factory floor than a meeting area for a high-tech station which produced exotic archaic technologies.

(No update yesterday because Eclipse road trip.)

HighEndNoob (Gaius/Gai) (IVDf VIPw IIIPc IIIWt)

The force keeps coming from your hip. There's something inside your pocket, some sort of animal--

--or apparently a strange device.

There's text on the screen:

"Caller: Okasa

Slide to answer call"

Ozarck (Di/Hamada) (4Df 3Pw 7Pc 2Wt)

An offering, an offering... you look around in your pockets. There's a red-colored box filled with some sort of biscuit, coated in a sweet layer of some kind of hardened honey.

You examine the layout of the shrine. A big red gate, a house with a sloped roof and a fanciful garden with bamboo, white flowers, and stepping stones across a small pond. The altar is up ahead between two large oak trees, and you can hear water running along the grooves between the stone tiles under your feet.

A faint light is lit inside the house.

Sir Elventide (Giovanna/Nagisa) (3Df 3Pw 4Pc 6Wt)

You close your eyes and wait for the light of understanding to grace the ignorance of your mind.
You try exploring the lost channels of memory deep within this body's mind. Surely you can find some link, some path, that will open the floodgates and reveal to you this body's past.
But for now it all eludes you. It seems you only inherited certain tics and mannerisms, not the full breadth of memories this body once held.

You hear a footsteps over pavement, coming from outside. In the window, you see a girl wearing bloody clothes walking past.

Spoiler: Items (click to show/hide)

Neoexdeath (Gunnulf/Shin) (3Df 3Pw 4Pc 6Wt)

You jolt up toward the chair and instinctively turn toward the door to your room, but stop there, not knowing which way to proceed.

You step toward the window. Light from the lamp reflects off your face, and into the window. Depicted therein is a face that mimics your every move, and yet you do not recognize one bit of it.

Suspicion confirmed. You are not yourself. Or rather, you have been transported to a different body, with its own mannerisms, habits, and, presumably, a past.

Wunderkatze (Ryzard/Mitsuru) (0Df 7Pw 4Pc 5Wt)

Born sometime in 2011. You have an address and a name: Murai Mitsuru. Your parents are Murai Nakano and Murai Tsuguho. Odd that you all have the same first name.

You look up at the young man, who puts on a confused and undignified look. "Axis powers?" he confirms your suspicion. "Hell no. They lost everything. Why'd you ask all of a sudden?"

Spoiler: Notes (click to show/hide)

killerhellhound (Lanfrank/Fuji) (5Df 4Pw 3Pc 4Wt)

When you turn the handle, water comes out. It drains into a basin below and then disappears into a pipe. There's a mirror above the faucet, but your drenched mostly covers your face.
You hold your finger beneath the water, only to scald yourself by accident. Where did the hot water come from, and who supplied it, you wonder?

Your pocket contains several slips of paper denoting quantities of hundreds and thousands. There some coins, and a card displaying a picture of a long-haired man from the Orient. It's the same picture as in the mirror.

Using your newfound powers of literacy, you scan the card:
Name: Fuji Ryo
Age: 16
Address: A place in Tokyo, Japan
Date of Birth: 8/20/2011
Legal Guardian(s): Fuji Naoaki, Fuji Rumie

Since the stand is unattended, you deposit the coins on the table and help yourself to a bowl. The bowl itself seems to be made of a thin material that feels like wood, but much lighter.

The food--oh, the food....

It's exceptional. You find yourself taken aback at just how good it is, the words to describe it eluding your mind. Simple bliss.

All of a sudden you feel a force on your right hip.

Ozarck (Di/Hamada) (4Df 3Pw 7Pc 2Wt)

The bushes cover your movements once more, allowing you to escape into a section that blocks vision from the sorcerers.

You come across an open hill with a small shrine on top and a road leading up to it, the stark red gate clearly visible despite the haze.
In the surrounding woodlands, you note many other entrances and paths leading up to the shrine road as it meanders up the hill. It's a short walk to either.

There's a sign hanging from a metal frame. You're surprised that you can recognize the characters on the sign: Okazaki Shrine.

Neoexdeath (Gunnulf/Shin) (3Df 3Pw 4Pc 6Wt)

You set the book down for reading, but the lambent glow of torchlight from the outside buildings is scarcely enough to make out written text. This room needs a light.
To fix the problem, you twist the knob on the desk lamp, and the table fills with light from a glowing orb affixed to the metal arm. Your arm simply... moved.

The bright light revealed scribbles on the wooden desk, each drawn in light-colored charcoal. They depict human beings hung from light poles, images of disembodied limbs and other gruesome articles.

Regarding the book, you start perusing its contents in the light:

Electrical motors and generators work off of essentially the same principle in reverse. A motor draws current across its terminals in order to produce current, whereas a generator produces a current when supplied mechanical rotation.
If you were to spin a motor without powering it, the motor would instead produce a voltage across its terminals, acting like a generator in all respects. In experiment 5.18 you will investigate this relationship using a hand-cranked generator and a light bulb.

You're not familiar with these terms.

Sir Elventide (Giovanna/Nagisa) (3Df 3Pw 4Pc 6Wt)

You have a strange palm-sized tablet in your pocket, made of black glass. Whatever it is, it seems featureless and solidly-built with no markings aside from some sort of styled depiction of an apple on the back.

The light from the tiny room spills over into the previous room, allowing you to see more of the decorations lining the wall:
-A huge painting depicting a tree with pink leaves against a black-and-white stylized mountain landscape.
-A pair of swords, long and short, highly ceremonialized and resting on a curved stand on a set of drawers near the wall.
-Above the swords, something that looks like a map. It depicts an island. [Wit => 1 success] Try as you might, you can't pinpoint the location. It certainly doesn't look like a European island.

Your pocket also contains a clue. A leather wallet with some sort of written document. You can read those letters, too. The face is exactly what you see in the mirror. Location: Saitama, Japan. Age: 16.

Spoiler: Items (click to show/hide)

Wunderkatze (Ryzard/Mitsuru) (0Df 7Pw 4Pc 5Wt)

You try harder, this time ignoring the dude.

Your pockets contain a leather pocket with a card inside and some loose change. The card shows a teenage girl's face with blue hair and shows an address in Japan. Age: 16.

The shops nearby: A liquor store, to your left. A maid cafe, to your right. (what the hell is a maid cafe?) Across the street: A pawn shop and a Daiso store.

You can't find any papers externally, no matter how hard you search in this brief moment of time.

Back to the nervous dude. You finally make eye contact. He looks like another teenager with short black hair and a black uniform with some green trims here and there. He'd look like a high-class person in a western country.
He points out the direction to the city library. "It's north," he says. "I'll show you the way."

killerhellhound (Lanfrank/Fuji) (5Df 4Pw 3Pc 4Wt)

You head down the hall, bypassing rooms that look occupied, until you stumble upon an empty room with a tiled floor and no door.

There are small towels hanging out of a dispenser on the wall. They seem very weak and brittle... but there's a lot of them. There are also ceramic fonts on the wall with a tube hanging over each one and two nearby handles.

To your left are narrow cubicles made of some sort of smooth wood. The room is empty for sure.

"Well it looks like we took a wrong turn after all" The Trader then sighed, scratching his head in annoyance. "I'll do what I should have done from the outset. Ask for directions.

He walks up to the nearest crewman, close enough to speak without appearing threatening. "We are representatives from the other ship, here to speak of trade matters with your own representatives. Could you point us the way to landing number twenty-twelve?"

The crew look amongst themselves as if they don't have any sort of spokesperson. They're a disorganized lot.

"Sure, it's down the hall over there. Take a right and you'll see a big room," said one of them. "There's stairs all over the outer rim of chamber. I'm sure you can find this landing somewhere."

HighEndNoob (Gaius/Gai) (IVDf VIPw IIIPc IIIWt)

You first check your pockets, and find some sort of glass tablet with no markings. You also have a leather pocket with a name, address, and face on a card inside of it, as well as several useless pieces of paper and some shiny coins with foreign numeral on them.

You translate the numerals to:
IV coins marked 'I'
III coins marked 'V'
I coin marked 'X'
I coin marked 'L'
III coins marked 'C'
IV coins marked 'D'

Overall the total value adds up to MMCDLXXIX.

One snack appears to cost CCL

Ozarck (Di/Hamada) (4Df 3Pw 7Pc 2Wt)

Your clothes, though bloody, don't seem to have any holes. So far there is no clear evidence of the blood's origins.

The pond itself seems anywhere from a few hundred meters across. Those figures are much closer than that, directly to your right as you overlook the pond. You retreat from the lakeside bench, hoping your silhouette blends in with the misty trees as you catch one last glimpse of the figures, tossing the crates into the lake, before you enter some other region of the park.

Still hidden in the bushes, you're briefly dazed by a flash of light. Up ahead is a large facade made up of boulders, and at the top is a guard rail. Behind the rail is a sort of simplistic metal carriage, but the animal is missing, and there are two people standing atop it. One's reclining with his back faced toward the edge (and you), the other has some kind of bright lantern in his hand, shining beams white as moonlight over the park.

Neoexdeath (Gunnulf/Shin) (2Df 2Pw 5Pc 7Wt)

Sir Elventide (Giovanna/Nagisa) (3Df 3Pw 4Pc 6Wt)

The house is humble, but there's two extra rooms. The first has another, smaller window, and there is a table built into the wall that wraps around three quarters of the room. It's filled with glinting pots and pans, and there are cold metal boxes with lots of food inside, as well as cabinets with tea and spices among other things.

In the process of entering the second room, your clothes snag on a protrusion from the wall, and suddenly the room becomes lit as bright as day.
As your eyes adjust, you find a mirror, a sink, and various items scattered about such as combs and brushes, made of a smooth, polished material like wood, except featureless and brightly colored.

You look into the mirror and find an unfamiliar face. You seem to have grown somewhat taller since you were last on this earth. Your hair is now an odd color, and your face is completely different.

Wunderkatze (Ryzard/Mitsuru) (0Df 7Pw 4Pc 5Wt)

The cans are beer. Sure smells like it. It came from a vending machine around the corner. You're not sure how you know that, but it is what it is.

"...Sure," he manages to say without making eye contact. "Are you new to Tokyo?" he asks, staring at the people on the opposite sidewalk.

Something's off about the cars on the street. They're awfully... quiet.

killerhellhound (Lanfrank/Fuji) (5Df 4Pw 3Pc 4Wt)

Cleaning your boots would depend on whatever you decide to sacrifice to wipe it off. You get as much as you can by rubbing it on the stone floor.

You take the papers out and look at them.

Well, by God's grace! You've learned to read! Doesn't look like Latin, though. Either way, it's highly unlikely you wrote this yourself, but it has the same name on it as the card in your pocket.

Let's see... mathematics... poetry... physic... it appears whoever owned this bag was quite a natural prodigy.

Strange how nearly all of us have weapons, environmental conditions or a mixed bucket of literal death.

Maybe the lost can only come back to bodies who have souls that want to leave/left.

((Sorry Neoexdeath. :( I'll edit your action into this post as soon as I get it))

HighEndNoob (Gaius/Gai) (IVDf VIPw IIIPc IIIWt)

Your gaze follows your nose. To your left is a gargantuan plaza between eight large buildings, filled with miniature houses and stands made of wood. Many of them are equipped with pots and raised stoves, cooking some kind of food, long strings of a pale yellow color mixed in a pot with various spices and herbs.

The smell makes your mouth water. It turns out that the nearest stand is unattended, though a fresh batch of cooked food is ready in a pot.

Ozarck (Di/Hamada) (4Df 3Pw 7Pc 2Wt)

It's hard to tell if there's anyone nearby because of the rain. You take a closer look at your hands and clothes. There's something unfamiliar about them. Your calluses are gone, and you're dressed like some kind of upperclasswoman.
You verify that you're not the one that's bleeding, and look around to find the true source.

There's no trail. It surrounds you and only you. There's some blood on the bench, too. The nearby bushes are clean, and you don't see any body in the water of the pond nearby.

On the shore, however, you notice a pair of figures ambling in the fog. One of them holds a crate, the other seems to have set his down, and has something in his hand which he put to his ear.

Somehow, the branding on the packages seems familiar to you. They're both something you'd use to clean up a mess. Inside the bucket is a pool of foul-smelling liquid, though the mess on the floor is light in color.

Keeping the wooden stick by your side, you tiptoe over to the edge of the thin wall and try to listen for footsteps over the sound of the rain. Suddenly lightning catches you off guard and you back away reflexively.
It seems as if the coast is clear outside. You look out the window and establish that your're in a small house on a hill, surrounded by trees. In the distance, garganguan buildings with hundreds of windows stare back at you.

His head is turned away. "Uh," he stammers nervously, "Aren't you, erm, cold?"

killerhellhound (Lanfrank/Fuji) (5Df 4Pw 3Pc 4Wt)

There is a covered stairway on the battlement. Water follows you through as you shut the door behind you, as you notice muddy footsteps already present on the stairs. The rain is muffled inside, and you can clearly hear.

OOC Thread

Six souls have now entered the realm of the living, their final fates yet to be decided.

HighEndNoob (Gaius/Gai) (IVDf VIPw IIIPc IIIWt)

The torches of a blazing city surround you. Lambent flames of many colors--bright, callow shades of blue, empyreal greens, grisly reds, and radiant yellows--all coalescing into a garish image of streets flooded with people fleeing the slaughter.

Except that doesn't seem to be the case.

The blood staining your garb seemed all but a forgotten dream. Lying prostrate, you find that the people of the city are not running at all, but carrying on with their daily lives. The sky is thick with heavy rain, fearsome iron horses race past, splashing water into your face, and the smell of warm food fills your nostrils.

Ozarck (Di/Hamada) (4Df 3Pw 7Pc 2Wt)

You woke up slumped on a bench, drenched in rain, armed with a knife clasped firmly in one fist, hands and clothes tainted with that familiar shade of red.

Dark, lonely bushes surround you in this solitary lakeside abode, and a stone fountain depicting a bowman stares in your direction, passing judgement without so much as an expression to his face. But this is no silent forest that you are used to. The sky is ablaze with reflections of faraway lights, and huge stone structures lined with glowing windows surround you on all sides, not a long walk away.

Neoexdeath (Gunnulf/Shin) (2Df 2Pw 5Pc 7Wt)

You find yourself surrounded by darkness in a small, claustrophobic chamber filled with clothes. The door is made of wooden panels and slides open easily, revealing a cramped room on the other side with a mat taking up half the floorspace and a desk with a chair taking up the other. Metal contraptions cover the desk, and a window displays a city on fire. Or rather, alight with scores of windows. It's something on a scale you've never seen before.

You find stacks of books scattered on the floor, intermingled with spiral notebooks covered in scribbles that you can intuitively glean the meaning of, even though you've never seen this language in your studies. Did you write this at some point? The room is unfamiliar.

Sir Elventide (Giovanna/Nagisa) (3Df 3Pw 4Pc 6Wt)

The gentle tapping of rain woke you to your senses in an unfamiliar new location. An unlit room with paper walls, a bamboo floor, and wooden screen doors. A ghastly stain surrounds a bucket in the middle of the room, surrounded by bottles marked with deadly warnings. Somehow, the symbols and markings each have an attached meaning to them, though you can hardly remember seeing this script.

You find on a small table a rod with a zigzagging paper trail, set aside and forgotten.

Wunderkatze (Ryzard/Mitsuru) (0Df 7Pw 4Pc 5Wt)

You wake up from a stupor surrounded by cans marked with oddly-decorative text. A warm glow emanates from storefronts on either side, and rain splashes on the pavement on all sides. Except, as it seems, directly on you, although your clothes are drenched.

Looking up, before your senses have been totally returned, you notice an umbrella floating over your head. At its handle is a hand, with a long black sleeve extending from the side.

killerhellhound (Lanfrank/Fuji) (5Df 4Pw 3Pc 4Wt)

You wake up to the smell of smoke and sulfur. Rain pours down on all sides, splattering against the stone floor below. To your surroundings are strange metal boxes surrounded by chain-linked fences, and a solid stone wall surrounds the outdoor space on all sides. You seem to be on a large tower of sorts.

Your left hand holds a back made of black fabric filled to the brim with soggy papers and books. Your other hand holds some strange metal tool with a narrow tube on one end and a leather grip that's bent to one side. It has a trigger like a crossbow's, but much smaller.

254
What's this about lack of sleep?

Souls don't sleep because they don't have bodies. They're just a sort of disembodied consciousness.

That tends to make them get a bit crazy at times.

255
Understood. Let me see what I will change... On a second note, if our characters were to get killed would they be able to respawn or do we have to reroll new characters? As you can tell, this will be my first Roll-to-Dodge Roleplaying session.

Souls are pretty, but your body can die under some circumstances. In that case you would have to find another.

You also don't know how your character left the Outer Darkness... so if you get banished there again you'd basically be out of the game.

I don't usually kill player characters permanently but losing your body is a possibility.
