You at least let yourself lose. I just use the console and give myself gold all the time. I really want to play CK2 "normally" but I never can. Just find it dull unless I cheat so I can constantly build all my holdings and expand...

Man people talk about all this dosh Patricians make, and I think I haven't gotten over +10 a month without just getting bored, cheating up a bunch of money, and just building trade ports everywhere. I got to like, 5 or something legit...
You have to have contiguous trade zones. It gets to something like +95% trade post income and +45% city income for ALL cities in the trade zone pretty fast. Unfortunately it appears to approach an infinite limit and never actually hit +100% or +50% though.

Ah that's tricky to do in Italy with every single Patrician practically owning a port in a trade zone. Haven't tried Gotland, as it's bugged and you seem to instantly game over if you design a ruler for it.

In my experience the AI doesn't do too bad, but the problem is it has the same flaw of a Civ's AI. It values the quantity of troops, over the actual quality. I have seen it attack one of my cities with like 3 or 4 full stacks of troops, that I can beat back with a fraction of because it just uses a lot of cheaper, weaker troops. I think the real problem is because FE lets you create your own units, where as the AI only uses stock units, which are not really all that great compared to ones you can customize yourself.

Still, I personally have a lot of fun in FE just building up a town and looking at the map. It looks neat seeing it all filled up.

Huh, I just realized I'd been marrying my designated heirs to princessess to help their election chances, but gold is actually 5 times more effective at boosting respect when spent directly on the election. I suppose the added prestige has some other benefits, but I guess I need to reconsider my strategy.

Definitely still going to continue marrying my daughters and sisters to the highest ranking single noble.

It seems gold coins are more valuable then your daughters and sisters...  :P

Republic is pretty fun. I didn't think a female could become Doge, but it seems you can actually. I think I went about 30 years before I realized you could upgrade your House, and THAT looks awesome. However, judging by the laws... I can't really play a proper game of Republic as women can't inherit, and I always like to try and run all-female run dynasties. I can just keep age cheating, but my test game ended when a random event got me killed by assassins. Nothing I can do about that.

I think so. I do know that if you as, say Venice, create a duchy level republic on the coast, it will just be a regular one.

The Republic AI seems to be wy better at playing CKii than the feudal one. Genoa is busy getting Iberia, Pisa is on it's way to annex North Africa, and Venice is losing war after war under my great leadership.

I would think the Republic AI does better because it gets so much money and can hire mercs, instead of having to rely on upgrading castles and towns and such to get bigger and bigger levies. Mercs are just way, way, WAY better for a long time.

I think Steam's store tends to update at around noon PST. So in about 2 hours. I think.

I'd love more activities too. I mean chosing between a Feast, a festival, and a hunt? and of those there is very little that will pop up? (I've actually seen all the events in those already)

I've had more exciting things happen in a Legend of the Three Kingdoms games. In that I had a white tiger pop out and I had to fight it!

A lot of those events have a chance at little other events to trigger during them. However, they are still a bit lacking I will admit. Especially if you have a female ruler, in which case all you can do is the Fair and Feast. You'll never see the other options for some arbitrary reason Paradox decides female rulers can't host tournaments or go on hunts, or anything else.

Surprise Double Rainbow today from 2-6PM PST.

Right when I'm at weekend hours, SIGH.

To be fair it is entirely possible to play a character that never fights and you'd gain levels from all your Life actions.

Slowly, of course. But possible.

I don't think many people are playing right now. Mabinogi is usually played in bursts, I think. I was playing the last few days and from some Commercing, Partner quests... I got to like level 40+... insane. I haven't done Maid quests, because sometimes she asks for Cooked food, and well. Rank F...

D'oh... I was told that at level 30 I was going to lose half my bank and I read somewhere I had to put all my items in the RIGHT half, and I did.

So, now all my bank items are locked.

Seriously, that's a very dickish way to get people to pay.

Ouch. The VIP stuff is so really good though! Although, yeah it does take people by surprise like that, which kind of sucks.

I normally play the part from worthless peasant with a stick to Lord of X naturally, since its hard, fun and the progression is visible and quick.

After that it just bogs down so hard and I hate waiting for the ai lords to get there things into gear that I cheat a lil bit (shame on me) and even it out by breaking off to forming my indi-kingdom.

I tend to play a peasant woman, who one day conquers a castle and becomes queen. Pretty much as hard as you can make the game, hahaha. I like to give out fiefs to the female companions as well.

Man that reminds me so much of The Wedding Dance mod, too much mistresses :P

Never heard of that mod :P
I tend to play Pendor or Floris mods myself, so that gives you a general idea of how many lords (ladies, I guess technically) I typically have to provide land for at first.

I kind of miss just getting to attack someone because you can.

Yeah. I miss this as well, does anyone know why the system is how it is now? I think the first CK was much better in this way. I mean, you still needed reasons I think, but it was way more flexible. I wonder why they changed it.

CK2 would be even more ridiculously easy if you could just attack anyone.

CK2's difficulty isn't really in CB, it's mostly just in the tedium. And random luck. Really, my biggest gripe with the game is everything is based on chance.

I want that territory, but it's all a random check to see if I can forge the claim. I want my tech to level up, but it's all a random check to see which tech gets a level up. I want to assassinate that person, but it's all a random check...

Really, that's probably one of my larger concerns with the game. Almost everything in it boils down to a lot of %'s and luck. It might be kind of realistic, but I wish I could just send my Chancellor somewhere, wait a few months, and automatically get the claim instead of waiting for months, or years for the RNG to be kind on me. Also I want a friggin' tech tree, it's not realistic or historical I know, but argh. That tech system just drives me batty.  ::)
