Things are doing well in my current fort. somehow my Woodworkers and masons are working incredibly fast, and my stockpiles are doing well. I've found a great outside area to set up my Strawberry farming operation and peasant/farmer housing, too - plus i've got a cage trap hall set up for the first assault.

This certainly is nifty, i like how it adds more music.

As far as customization goes, this is the music i'm currently using for Worldgen.

a Droid X. Sadly, there's no Android port of DF. DF would probably make a Cortex A8 Die a horrible death, anyway - given enough time, it'll take down an i7!

(not to mention DF would be a pain to control with a touchscreen, anyway.)

started a new fortress.
My expidition leader, who is fond of giant cave eagles, saw fit to adopt 10 of them. On the other hand, he's pretty much ecstatic now, so if i can keep up the eagles i'll eventually be able to completely ignore all his mandates and he won't even make a peep.

I slaughter most enemies on the battlefield, but if i happen to catch a goblin, i keep it and put it up a short distance from my fortress as a example to deter would-be invaders, or place them in a prison. Okay, that whole intimidation thing doesn't do anything, but i like to think it does.

Technically yes, the lower skilled the farmers are the slower they plant and the smaller stacks they produce.

Right, right. I never considered that. However, i don't want any urists going to waste. perhaps i'll make more picks so i can have a bit of redundancy with my miners, in case a terrible fate befalls some of them.

I've done some save deleting, so unfortunately Oraclepaddle fell because of the fact that the universe that contained it collapsed.

Now i'm experimenting with War/hunting Fluffy Wamblers.

None, all Immigrants are useful as haulers or for my 'Quick skill military training facility!', that and I tend to shove jobs that don't need high skills to be useful, like carpentry for my beds, bins, and barrels on everyone except my specialists.

I use most of my useless migrants for plant gathering/farming/fishing or as soldiers. Hungry Dorves need food, and useless peasants are great at growing wild strawberries, catching fish, and farming plump helmets.

by pets, did you mean the submenu to select cats and so on? If so, that's working fine...aside from Wamblers not showing up. I'll try the modifications you suggested.
