Finishing construction of an artificial extension of my starting river to make invading more fun for goblins and so on (That is, restricting entry to one direction).

Also, i've got a visit from elven traders, and need to generate wealth fast as all hell.

The first Kobold Invasion of Oraclepaddle. I was expecting a epic struggle, but they all just got ran down by my tamed Eagles and thrown in the corpse pit.

12th Galena, 353. Oraclepaddles has been having terrible bedding problems since our population hit 42, and they're even worse now that six more dorves have migrated. We're having trouble keeping up with demand, and may need to build more workshops. This will require expanding our workshop area, though.

Urist McStrangeMood has made Etessanad, a Obsidian Miniforge. I just found out that miniforges are actually pretty useless...

So, i've got a herbalist in a fey mood - What should i build? I'd like to avoid staging a unfortunate accident for it if possible, i don't want to start a tantrum spiral...

To give this post a bit more content, what's the best way to deal with classes that have no apparent fix for Strange Moods, in your opinion?

I've never managed to train a successful army (or at least an army that didn't make every victory a Pyrrhic one), so that's why i did some raw editing...and, well, there's a good reason my fortress is filled with War Eagles.

Strengthroad, 14 Limestone, 251 - I fear that we have our army set up before our housing sector and public eating facility are fully excavated - Our polar bears and Grizzly Bears are reproducing at an astonishing rate. Our bears now outnumber dwarves 5 to 1*, and i fear we may have a bearsplosion on our hands. Oh well, at least we've made the rumors of a bear cavalry true. I wonder how they'd fare against a goblin invasion? We are also attempting to set traps to capture some elephants, and we are also fortifying the entrance with a wall and moat, and adding a roof to proof the fortress against land and air invasion. the day goblins show up to fruitlessly invade Strengthroad will indeed be a sight to see. However, the other citizens are getting crabby because we do not have a dining area set up. We've told them it's not even dug out yet, but they just won't listen.

*$1 Bears - What other wonders will Raw editing introduce?

On my non-cheat fortress i've hit Cotton Candy. Now it's simply a matter of carefully rationing it all out and avoiding hitting the Hidden Fun Stuff (plus having some Walls ready for when i do)... Hopefully i'll have enough Cotton Candy to make at least a few suits of armor, some picks and some other weapons.

thanks to the magic of RAW editing and worldgen, i've made a second fortress where i can safely cheat my pants off without impacting my main fortress.

Current population: 7 Dorves, ~10 reptile men, a couple'a dragons and some other Misc. wildlife what i hacked to be [COMMON_DOMESTIC].

Blast it! Highhammer is under heavy siege from goblins, allied casualties are at least 10 and some dorves have gone into tantrums. Hopefully we can just barely ward them off -- Our entire army (~8 Dorves?) has more or less been crushed, leaving the civvies and hunters as the last defense.

...Highhammer belongs to the goblins now. It's sort of embarassing that a few ambushes could slaughter some 70 dorves, but, well, losing is fun and all. Maybe next time i'll hit Cotton Candy.

Still, this was a record run for me, my personal achievements were:
  • First fort to last more than 1 day
  • First fort to get more than 50 population
  • First fort to last more than 2 ingame years

Dear Urist McMyMayor'sNameIsActuallyUrist:

Maybe if you didn't keep making retarded unfulfillable mandates i wouldn't have to lock you in your office. I hope your child doesn't share your fate and starve before i can retrieve it from your office after you've passed on, maybe it'll make a better mayor.

I only squad people who have combat skills, and if i absolutely need to. A good miner also doubles as a good (If not somewhat risky to send out) soldier, as you know.

Hmm, now that you bring up Modding it may actually be worth a try - Though maybe a gag reference to the Argonians from StarTropics might be in order instead - Would it be possible for the worldgen to make a tropical C-Shaped island?.
?
EDIT: Sleestaks, maybe

Something i want to try, whether in HighHammer or another fortress: Find friendly Reptile Men, refer to them as Argonians.
(Edit: This comment not meant to be taken seriously - The rather ridiculous nature of the statement should have been enough, but i guess not. All in jest - I'll append a :p at the end of all further silliness.)
