Bypassing the whole "DFusion thing" and just giving goblins the [CIV_CONTROLLABLE] tag and some metals+ reactions.
Way ahead of you.
still using DFusion though.

Creating world and testing, will leave this thread open for suggestions.

Whewt! I'm going to do a community (read: NOT SUCCESSION) fort using goblins.

So, I;ve already made a few modifications to the raws. they are as follows:

DOMESTIC ANIMAL CHANGES:
Beak dog (replaces domestic dog)
Muskox
No mule
No donkey
No dogs (they are exotic pets, however)
Jabberer (war purposes)
Warthog (war purposes)
Trolls  (war purposes)
Ogre (war purposes)
cave alligator (war purposes)
Giant olm (war purposes)
Giant cave swallow bird (war purposes)
Giant toad (war purposes)
Giant bat (yeeeah)
Voracious cave crawler (war purposes)

PLANT CHANGES:
removed all dwarven references to plant products...
I.E.: dwarven beer is now simply beer. Tossed around the idea of making it "goblin beer" but scrapped it.
Dwarven syrup is now syrup.

NOBLE CHANGES:
diversified noble classes.
I.E. expedition leader is now boss man, mayor is big boss man, bookkeeper is killcounter...

CLASS CHANGES:
? could, not sure what the purpose would be.

I'm using DFusion to embark as goblin. I will start with five goblins, one human (outlaw), and one dwarf (snatched as a baby)

Ideas?

How hard would it be to make it so the mod had the ability to let you choose fortress race? I play a lot of above ground forts as humans or whatever...I do not always like messing with the raws...
Not hard at all. But you will lack many dwarven buildings and reactions unless you copy the PERMITTED_* from them to the race of your liking.
it's fine, you've diversified it enough with castes.

on that subject, do aspids/gloomers/obsidian dorfs actually use their natural ability?
I had a gloomer militia commander, who never once used webbing.

So several of my dorfs are dying of thirst. I had a horrible embark plan, and I was going to breach hell and abandon.
 I breach the first cavern layer... nothing.
I breach the second cavern layer... nothing.
I breach the third cavern layer... WAIT!
I see a glowing pit!
wtf?!
oh wait...
no hell announcment...
I continue to dig, expecting to breach the magma sea and...
I breach hell.
nothing more, nothing less.
no influx of demons, no nothing.
"feh."

ABANDONED



NOTE: I think this may be due to me specifying 5 cavern layers (?) in the custom parameter set.
I am using deons genesis mod.
