At year 13, this world witnesses its first siege ever!
... one recently recruited crossbowdorf died. No gobbo escaped alive.
At least, I got an extremely badass bone statue during it!  :D

It is adorned with hanging rings of Urist! It menaces with spikes of Fikód!
On the item is an image of Mistem in Mistem bones. Mistem is screaming. The artwork relates to the violent murder of Mistem by Urist McFellMood during a !!SCIENCE!! experiment.

Heck yeah, I needed to know once and for all just how large a pasture must be for these goddamn yaks and water buffaloes to survive.  >:(

Urist McPsychobaron cancels Follow ethics: sudden urge to see what a fell mood looks like.

Hunters keep getting killed by their preys. But not badgers, though, surprisingly enough. They're still pussies who can only kill dorfs by forcing them to jump in the river and drown/freeze to the bone. Therefore, they can only be planning something terrifying.
Same for sieges. Haven't even gotten thieves in a while.
On the bright side, that means I can finish linking up all these grates to my lever in time for the next attack!  Depressingly enough, I might get a baron, or even the queen herself, before I endure a single siege.

Nah, it's cool, dwarven wine is made from fermented mushrooms.
Don't forget the dirt. I have it on a good, alcoholic authority that dwarven beer, ale, and wine contain large amounts of dirt.
And large pebbles, too. Act like icecubes. Give even more taste. Pitchblende turns brews a lovely glowing shade of green most of the time.

I've learnt to do one thing: regularly look at my dwarfs' profiles, and whenever I like their preferences, I give the dwarf the customized title of Candidate Noble. It allows for early planning, you don't have to do it too often if you don't have a high turnover rate, and as long as you have, say, 3 dwarfs with that title at any time, chances are at least one of them will still be alive by the time the liaison comes. Very easy to find them in any list afterwards.

So, this guy is why fell moods exist.

"the mayor is making a mandate"...
wait...I have a mayor!? since when?!
and a captain of the guard also. what the hell...
i alway thought nobles came with immigrants, never thought that the "expedition leader" would evolve like a pokemon into a bitchering noble...going to magma him.
but i can't. she's a woman. a married woman, with child, who is also my captain of the guard. Now that's favoritism.
Now, that's Fun®, you mean.  ;D
A more diplomatic way to do it is ensure the mayor stops seeing people. Lock her in a part of the fort with clever use of burrows, and dump enough stuff for her to survive. Soon enough, her social skills will deteriorate, and another dwarf's will pick up. When there are enough idle dwarfs, a more social dwarf will be elected in her place, and she will be able to leave her burrow again and become a harmless civilian.
That, or you can just [r]eplace her, which will only last as long as the next elections, anyway.

"The Intense Blizzards", tundra region.

It's funny because it's true; I lost everybody wandering through it.

Suddenly I'm envisioning a Dwarf Fortress version of Oregon Trail. It makes so much sense.
... you may be on to something there.

Half the goblins I meet and their mothers seem to be named Ngokang, so the generic green dude is Ngokang to me.
Most Mistem I have in my forts also seem to be female, so whenever I get tired of Urist, I call the women Mistem.
Kobolds... are all "Hey-you-rodent-face-get-your-filthy-ass-all-the-way-back-the-fuck-here". Because all their names are equally mind-boggling to me.
I don't care enough about humans to bother seeking patterns. And most elven civilization die out before founding my fort, so yeah.

No, seriously, the complete lack of sieges freaks me out. As well as the fragility of badgers: another guy punched one's brain's out in a single hit. The only real casualty was caused by a fisher thrown in the river by a badger man, and it froze the next second.
Goblins are gonna invade the place on badger mounts, while being led by a badger demon with extremely deadly and contagious rabies blood. No other way.
HOW LONG AM I GOING TO WAIT FOR THE INEVITABLE TO HAPPEN.
COME ON, I AM MORE THAN READY. IF I HAVE TO GO OUT IN BLAZING, RABID, BLOODY GLORY, THEN I WILL

Musashi cancels Playing Dwarf Fortress: too insane.
