She mooded mining. Mining is a moodable skill that uses masonry shops.
... never knew that, explains a damn lot about everything.
*eyes the whole bunch of miners in the fort*
*FACEPALMS*
Thanks for the answer.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / No experience on strange moods? [ANSWERED]
« on: December 20, 2010, 09:48:31 am »
My miner's just had a secretive mood. She's adequate in armorsmithing and weaponsmithing, though she's rusty in both. Yay! I have adamantine ready, and tons of good materials, I...
... huh, she's claiming a masonry workshop. Oh, well.
When she's done with her artifact, she's still a miner. She had no skill in masonry, and still has none. Huh, what?
I'm almost sure it has happened more than once, too. I had "normal" moods before, but it's hard to remember the last time I had a "proper" mood taking in account the mooder's skills. Note I only had like 2-3 possession in 14 years, and mostly secretive moods. Also, using 31.18 and no mod to my knowledge.
Is that normal? Does the rustiness of skills come in play?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Blindness pandemic?
« on: December 20, 2010, 08:19:38 am »
I temporarily had a blind jeweler and surgeon once. While it had practically no effect whatsoever on their professional life, imagining the result was hilarious.
Temporarily? They got better?
Well, yeah, seeing how they're not blind anymore. The disease didn't outright rot their eyes and they required no medical attention, so...
And they were not alone, they are still occasionally joined by the usual kind of moron who waits at the worst possible time at the ER for something extremely minor (well, blindness IS minor here) and goes back to work once the diagnosis is made. It's a strange syndrome that literally did nothing more than render eyes useless for several months. I tried exploiting it, but we all know how random diseases can be.

There's a dead child haunting the statue of the god of several bodies of water and children I'm building. Fairly certain she died by drowning, too. I sort of hope she will stay there once I'm done.

... I think I love your mother.

I've heard that tale before, so I have loved his mother for a long time. Bowchickabowwow.
"Her" mother, thanks  :D
She understands the intellectual work needed to make a functioning pump stack without flooding the whole friggin' place. Or maybe she overestimates it grossly. I dunno. But I'm sure she would also be addicted if she was more computer-savvy.
I'll tell her she's loved by geeks and that she should appreciate it.  :P

Even with Ironhand's graphic pack, my boyfriend's got trouble understanding what's going on on screen. But all he knows is that, seeing how addicted I am by the game and the stories I tell him, he absolutely shouldn't start playing. His studies are already draining too much of his time.
HOWEVER. My mom has recently understood what the hell I was doing on my computer all day, and she's delighted by my stories. To the latest story of the nth moron who deconstructed the wrong floor tile and my necessity to make more coffins, she replied "coffins? Are you crazy? Just incinerate the idiot!" even before learning it was possible thanks to !!MAGMA!!. I love my mom.

And now I have an artifact adamantine crown that unites some of the things that make up the game (diamonds, toads, cats, menacing spikes of cloth, the foundation of the fortress), it pops up not only on the newer artifacts, but also regularly on the new engravings.

Windslap. I feel obligated to power all my stuff with a buncha windmills (not like I could use the alternative of watermills without a lot more tweaking anyway...), and build a gigantic tower with a catapulting execution device. Plus, heh, there's wind. ;D

Okay, so when they said "beware its deadly blood", that doesn't mean "washing the unexpectedly victorious meatshields in the nearby pond is enough", that really means "soon, your dwarfs will die one by one because the retards picked up an infected item, and it is up to you to discover if it is a kitten corpse, a pick, or a sock".
At least, the epidemic seems to have stopped after the 4th local die by paralysis, and it is taking care of my overpopulation problem. Mist for everyone!
