Roll To Dodge / Re: The First Magic Girls OOC

EDIT: No roll for my character? <_<
...
>_<
It was midnight when I rolled your turn.
And, let's face it, chances are you're better off without a roll to avoid getting horribly injured by a magical meteor thing.

Quote
EditIII: The name is HIROMI. Ugh.  :-\
Indeed it is, everywhere except that one post. Again, midnight.

I just noticed that Keith was the only one to actually think about dodging one of the fragments. So, score one for Keith.
To be fair, most didn't notice in time, and really it didn't matter.

the stares of numerous onlookers.

(My clothes are not fireproof, are they?)

Check pants status.
You have pants. You would have thought they would have burnt when you were set on fire.

Hm, why would people be staring at you? Maybe because you just set yourself on fire and walked away unharmed?

I skimmed it. It didn't really say anything about goals. Checking the Wikipedia page, I got the feeling that the EU cared more about re-establishing peace than getting the "legitimate" government back in power. Especially since the legitimate government is hated by most of the nation at this point.

And I'm trying to fix the at-war thing. Others are trying diplomacy, I'm saying that is anyone's open to diplomacy I'll diplomatize with them.

You can't concentrate enough to use Vacuos while flying, so you're pretty much vulnerable.
That would have been good to know before, now wouldn't it?

Vacuos. Phoenix Blast him in the center of mass, or in the face if we have some control over the direction of the projectile.

Don't you get to spend 600 XP to augment your character?

10971
((The alternative will decrease the number of conversations, making for less and less rich roleplaying.)
(That, honestly, is not true.  Look at the second "If Bay Forum were a Mountain Hall thread.  It had linear progression, and there were quite a few conversations.  You just have to describe your character leaving one conversation, and walking over to another group who is already conversing.  How hard is that?
((A lot harder if you're talking with someone who isn't online much, or who lives in a different time zone, or something.))

Quote
And really, I view conversations as the minimum of roleplaying.  The 'rich' stuff is where you describe the body language of the characters and their inner thoughts, which honestly, the second is the best form for character development, in my opinion.  When you do that, everyone gets to know your character better, which allows others to create longer posts, using your character, and having them perform actions that make sense.)
((Body language is pretty minor, thoughts are cheap, and it's the character-on-character interactions that make things interesting.))

Quote
((Besides, discussion and ideas etc.))
(You underestimate the potency of people getting caught up in that.)
((Your point?))

((Overall, a game where people are allowed to have plenty of conversations and do as much body language/thoughts stuff as they want is a lot better than one where they can be locked out by trying to talk to the wrong person--losing several hours or more of potential roleplaying--and have to try and describe body language and just throw in thoughts to make up the difference))

All of a sudden the gods have flipped in power.
The stronger ones (Me, Nam'qua) have become weaker, and Teskort and Neyvarah have become stronger.
Neyravah is a...?! okay, you have a point.

It's a literal shitstorm out there.
Ew.

"I am Gorgutz the Brown, and...I see myself."

A small-fanged, gray-brown-skinned (half-)ork with the typical six-fingered hands, osteodermal nodes, and such. I'm small for an ork, but I'm still far larger and more muscular than mere humans could ever hope to be. I have a tattoo of a semicircle on my forehead, denoting my half-breed status, and one of a worm-like creature around my left arm marking me as untrustworthy to orks.

Examine the state of existence.

Wonder if anyone is aware of what Cross Applied Technologies is a reference to.
It is shadowrun
Glad someone got it.
Wait for the revelation. I have awakened.

I will take the European Union.

Open communications to other leaders, discussing possibilities of a peaceful alliance.
(The EU is here to try and make peace. If the US is shattered into several factions that remain peaceful, and manage to get good trade agreements up, that fulfills our goals with a minimum of fuss and bloodshed.))

Determine what the rules of this game are, how it works, and what economic/espionage/military/etc options I would have if they were needed.

"M-mommy and daddy okay... w-wight?" Minu looks kind scared. Would her foster family be nice?
((...The image Scapheap posted has become true!))
((I suppose.))
"Don't worry, Mimu."

((Not surprised. Find a good one? :P Aw no roll for me yettt))
Go get a drink of water before sitting on the sofa I hopefully have in the place.
Okay, that's not a normal thing to have happen to someone.
Thinking the most obvious thought you have thought in your life, you lay back on the sofa, still blissfully unaware of anything odd happening.

'what
what is this.
right
contain damage first
panic later.'

Those panic fueled thoughts out of the way, Hikaru tries to limit the damages caused by the impromptu fireshow.
Make sure ALL the fires are out.
[3] You manage to put out the fires after a good bit of work. There is no way you're going to hide the fact that they happened, though.

Pain.
Lots of pain.
I expected this, but I had at least expected it to end quickly.
This is very bad.
Why couldn't I just die?
Attempt to get up
[3][4] You try to struggle up, before realizing that you seem to have broken your back. You can kind of crawl, though.
Suddenly, your vision is obscured for a second with brown. When it clears, you are a bit different...your face, body shape, and such are a bit different. You also realize you can move again.

Minu also suddenly realizes that you go to a hospital when you get hurt! She tries to look at her injuries, and also looks around for her catsuit and uniform frantically!
Minu realizes that she isn't hurt. Weird...

Hurk... No, not on the bridge!
Willamina rushes to the edge of the bridge before emptying the contents of her stomach into the water below.
Ugh... What the hell was that? Some sort of meteor shower? Maybe the clumps, but I was definitely hit by light, not a ro- Hurgh!
Willamini's reverie is interrupted as she vomits again.
Radiation maybe? If that's the case, this might be serious. I'll head back to the hotel, and if it doesn't get any better by then, then I'll go and see a doctor.
Willamina heads back to the taxi, asking for a sickbag and a ride back to the hotel.
You feel sick, but thankfully manage to avoid actually vomiting...not that you really want to risk it.
[3] You call for a cab. After about fifteen minutes, one arrives. The driver sees that you are sick, and hands you a paper bag smelling faintly of ham and cheese. You begin heading back, wondering what was going on.
At least you saw the bridge.

Yukari winced, her eyes widening. clutching her wrist and looking at in in mixed horror and awe.

"So I have wind powers...oh god."

She falls back down onto the sand, thinking for a moment, before taking out her phone. She needed to get to a hospital. She'd call Fuuka first; yes, he sister was probably wondering where she was right now. Crap.

Clinic, then house.
Head off to the nearest clinic to get my wrist checked at.

((Changed from calling a cab. Mild irritation, but understandable.))
[1] You don't know where a nearby clinic is. You airhead.

Claudia exhales slowly, her body deflating from the state of tension it defaulted to moments previously. She wasn't sure if she felt puzzled, worried, mystified, horrified - if she had to pick a word to describe herself right now, it would be 'blank' that fit best. This was something entirely beyond conventional human experience.

Check self. Am I injured or bleeding? If not, get up slowly and carefully.
You seem to be okay. You stand up, exhaling.

This is interesting, self-immolation. I wonder how this is suppose to work? A growl remind me. I was getting food. I'll work out what happened with a full belly.

Back on track to the shops
You head to the shop, ignoring the stares of numerous onlookers.

"Oh dear. I should go wake up Ma and Pa."
Keith grabs a sandwich and then runs back to his room to alert his parents of what just happened.
So he does. However, it seems they are quite aware. Turns out, a glowy thing from a meteor hitting the ship and making it start to sink gets everyone's attention.

"Shit."

Gently feel for any broken bones. Get help ASAP. Call an ambulance if I have a (working) cellphone.
Currently, you are made of metal. You're pretty sure you have some broken bones, though. It certainly feels like something's broken inside you.
You figure out how to turn normal, and determine that you definitely have broken bones.
[4+1] Pulling out your brand-new smartphone, you call an ambulance. They arrive, and take you to a hospital.

There was too much noise. The cacophony of sound coming from every direction overwhelmed her, she attempted to move her hands to block her ears but cried out in pain as she tried to move her broken arm. She slumped down the wall until she was sitting on the ground, wishing that the world would just be silent. Eventually doing her best to shut out the noise and the pain she staggered to her feet.

Then she started to force herself towards the nearest hospital
[1] Why is everyone rolling 1's on the "Get To a Hospital" check?
[6] You walk to a hospital. Unfortunately, this makes your injuries significantly worse.

Tirus looked down and stared blankly at the ground.

"Orenji..."
Bury Orenji. Go back to my grandmother and see what she thought about the meteors.
You silently bury your old friend, then return home.
((Let's just pretend this is all spoken the way Japanese people would actually talk, with their own aphorisms and such. This formally absolves you of needing to append -san, -chan, -kkun, or whatever to names, for instance.))
"Sent! Are you alright?"
"Yes, Grandma."
"Thank God! I'd heard about a meteor or something that exploded. They say three people were killed by one, a bunch of people got burnt or broken bones, and the strangest things are happening..."
"Do you have any idea what they could be?"
She shakes her head. "Something...strange. World-shattering. Different. I don't know."
That pretty much answers your question, you guess...

I think that's everyone. Convenient.

I'd include a Status Sheet thing, but I think you're all interested in an update. Next turn, I swear. (Which means it should be done by next week.)

10977
(I guess I just post my sheet here.)
-snip-
(Here to fuck shit up and be an all-round badass. :P)
((I can't wait until he encounters the HMRC's resident badasses. Who include a 4-armed synthetic person skilled with space magic stuff who would look down on Goliath*, a man in a giant syhtnetic thingy inside a suit of powered armor bigger than many mechs who has access to a universal manipulator, multiple assorted robots and space wizards, and two suspected eldritch abominations working as a medic/mad surgeon and the guy selling stuff in the armory. And a catgirl. And a kid.
There's also Xan, but despite shapeshifting abilities that would put the unholy child of John Carpenter's Thing and a Skrull to shame he doesn't have any physical stats.))

((FUCK. YOU. ALL.))
((First of all, no one else had any part in this. Only blame me.
...Second, I didn't have any idea this might happen. I asked the aforementioned mad surgeon/probable eldritch abomination about if bad things could happen, and my response was "It might". MIGHT! You'd think that if my course of action would cause massive damage to the planet's infrastructure and the ship, there would be a more definitive no, but nope. "It might"! Okay, you might want to put some blame on the Doctor. And on Grate's inferiority complex. Which is based on being unable to use his technical skills on missions, due to his lack of ability to find and purchase such systems, so we can blame the economy too.))

((FUCK. YOU. ALL.))
((Huh. He only just submitted the sheet... Guess that's a new record.))
((Gamerlord exceeds expectations often. He often uses profanity and the like to do so.))

((And that was only the one pill; what if someone ate several?))
((NO. BAD XAN. BAD. NO BIOMASS COOKIE FOR YOU.))

((Seriously, one causes untold destruction, and you want to eat a bunch?

((I like how the pill machine hasn't been used in a sensible way yet. Everyone is too focused on horribly abusing it.
((I was planning to do some controlled testing, but I wanted to get this test out of the way first.))

Quote
If I had access I would just put a simple painkiller into it and eat the result. Instant lack of pain rolls forever.
((Going without pain would be bad between firefights.))

Quote
Well I assume that is what it would do, seems logical, just like everyone knew that eating the battery pill would be a REALLY bad idea.
((DAMMIT THE DOCTOR SAID IT MIGHT GO WRONG! MIGHT!))

((Nyars sells packages that are color and symbol coded, which contain discarded/weird tech and stuff. I believe Parisbre has a full list of what people have gotten out of them in his sig))
((Paris has a list of everything in his sig.))

10978
((Heh. I'm on the way to becoming a multicellular organism already.))
((In a most unorthodox fashion, yes. It suits you.))
((Most of the time, multi-cellular organisms are formed by botched mitosis. Instead, one was formed by botched...I'm not sure what you were doing, actually.))

I think he was referring to the specific method of reproduction you attempted.

Wait, this is spore-like, right? Did you press the "mating call" button yet?
((Which also doesn't really work, considering that most single-celled organisms reproduce by that method. They can't really mate. Also, Xantalos already did it.))
((Some unicellular organisms have sexual reproduction. Besides, given the presence of complex organs like jaws, electric and other sensory organs, digestive glands, trunks, limbs, proboscises, spines, and apparently nervous systems, we don't seem to be so much "unicellular" as "plankton".))

Bit the guy biting me!
Seriously, why are you picking on me? I can't hurt an...oh, you criminla genius.

10979
"Wait, I can choose my challenge? What's stopping me from, say, selecting 'Stab the ground' as my challenge? This doesn't seem to be a very well-thought-out system..."

Attempt to get a between-turn response/clarification.
