If we're sticking labels everywhere and then stating it with emphasis in all caps...then I'm really unsure about joining :s

I don't like stereotypes and labels for personality and character. I don't play in things where we're designated as robots or labels of desire instead of being known as people.

It's more giving people labels that apply to their personality. And maybe the occasional exaggeration for a cheap laugh.

I've been resisting the urge to plug here, but I've been working on a game based off PMMM since the afternoon this thread popped up, and my co-conspirator and I are starting to wrap up the pertinent details; hopefully, we'll be online in the next couple days!

Not the first one I've seen. In fact, I'm pretty sure there have been two PMMM games on Bay12 before. I wonder why there are so many of those compared to other such anime?

But where I diverge in reasoning is when people begin using tropes (with their subconscious meaning in mind) as a general descriptor for things which are better to regard holistically rather than with a 'first impression' of sorts.

Remember what you said, about tropes being as much words as words are?
Tropes do basically what words do: They give a brief description of something which might not pierce past the surface. Think of, say, George Washington, Mohammed, or Confucius. Describe them in a sentence. You're going to be leaving a lot out; the words you use will probably imply things that aren't true. And yet, you use words to describe them.
Tropes are a language of a sort, and it works much the same. It's just that the number of words is smaller, and the percentage with some kind of secondary, implied meaning higher.

I swear, the IC thread should be up soon! Last final today, in a bit over 20 minutes, so that's one less thing to worry about.

before i give you your roll, let me rebut against your total logic fallacy:
anti- the exact opposite of.
christ- the person who is going to come again and bring us all into heaven.
heaven is basically utopia, except better.
therefore, you are the opposite of the person who brings us into utopia, and bringing us into utopia?

You count heaven as utopia? Your definition of utopia is so...wrong. Heaven is a place where you praise God 24 hours a day, 365.24 days a year, for all eternity, and your mind is rewritten so you enjoy it and don't care about all the people burning in Hell. That's worse than Oceania.

I was participating mostly entirely because of the IRL connection, but I think I'll drop out with everyone else.

Annoyance briefly crosses his features as Angel's form gradually shifts back to her normal self.  "Come on dear," his smile returns as he gives her newly normal sized hand a kiss, "You transformed into something beautiful and terrible, and all you feel is okay?"

Angel shudders a bit.

Just one thing: the wording of rule three and four might point out that the island around the continent are unharmed by the cataclysms. Leftovers of earlier civilisations might remain here...

I like this idea. Lost civilizations are so much fun...

Which is part of why I wanted those cataclysms seperate. Annoying.

I don't know much about Shadowrun. As far as I remember magic suddenly returned in the future and people turned into fantasy races like rolls etc.

Technically, it returned just under a year ago, with the New Baktun.
Also, no one turned into a roll.

So maybe it could be people being captured by some mega corp that is sponsored by the government to experiment on their new forms in illegal ways. Ordinary people or people with interesting genetic sequences are also kidnapped and experimented on as a control. Maybe it's trying to see if they can induce mutation into other races with ordinary people/ at will. The ability to change race at will would be very, very useful, I'd imagine.

1. The races have mostly been around for decades.
2. The idea of trying to make new metahumans, or to be able to turn from one subspecies to another at will...interesting plot concept.
