Play With Your Buddies / Re: Lets Play Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire!
« on: May 01, 2014, 10:08:05 am »
This is covered in a thinggummywotsit about why don't the humans use their nanites or turrets or something against the mindworms. The mindworms still wreck all minds, even mechanical ones - and it's worse when they're simple algorithms from robots and shit. What the cyborgs gain in relative fearlessness they lose in functionality.
Depends on how the cyborging works. I'd expect that the brains would still be 100% carbon.

And I'd be impressed by anyone who made a mechanical sentient AI.

It's not exactly winning, seeing that the main plot of Nethack is you walking into the dungeon to get the Amulet of Yendor in the first place.
Calling walking into the dungeon and then walking out a "win" is like calling walking into a mall and then immediately out "shopping".
1. If you just hop out the first chance you get, that's dumb. If you can figure out when to retreat and do so...well, it's better than just dying down there.
2. Like I said, lesser kind of winning.
3. I'd almost rather enter the Dungeons of Doom than spend a substantial amount of time shopping, mall or otherwise.

...right, can we pov switch to slog at some point? that +1 to cathedral tier is interesting, it could either allow the party to go to lv0 without breaking the game or get some crazy shit at the last

Sadly, Slog is not an option on the influx.
Yay!

That is a worthy goal for the future.  For now, we must auntie up.
Ugh. Both to the sentiment and to the pun.

Wait, Team F has four people? I thought it was Lars, Grate, and Jack.

I'd say Grate's been reasonably competent. And technology is his forte, he'll be fine.
*Whistles*
That had nothing to do with competence or technology. That had to do with the Doc only saying there might be problems.

I'd say Grate's been reasonably competent. And technology is his forte, he'll be fine.
Damn it GWG! Don't you know you should never say that? Now the gods of plot will cause you to overshoot spectacularly and somehow burn all the ships!
...Oops. Stupid, stupid, stupid, you know better than that!

Quote
The first man in line gets a rifle. The second, ammunition. When the first man dies, the second picks up the rifle and shoots.
Wouldn't it make more sense to give both to the first man, and then the second can pick up shooting where the first left off? He wouldn't even need to waste time putting the bullets in the rifle mid-battle!

And at least Jack and Lars actually hit what they were shooting at.
Grate was never intended as a combat character.

1369
Lars laughs at this.  "Young Brother Grate, who needs data when you have the gods on your side?  Us four took control of the bridge of the ship without anyone dying because of our faith in the divine."
Grate just glances down at himself, as if checking that he is, indeed, still alive despite being a bit of a heathen.

"I'll be sure to give you one once we get off this ship. Or at least, a place where there isn't a chance of being attacked by UWM soldiers."
"I think it would be more useful if he had a weapon before we get attacked..."

We do need to go to DL0 at some point, though.
In Nethack, for instance, you spawn on DL1, on the stairs that leads up, out of the dungeon. If you take the stairs, you lose, on account of quitting the dungeon and running away.
I always considered it just a lesser way to win. You know, because it describes you as escaping the dungeons.

Going to DL0 sounds interesting. It would be nice to get back to old-fashioned video game tropes.

1371
You can't do that. Shields up is a captain card, which can only be played from the bridge of the ship.
Been a while. Makes sense, though.

No card, then.

Conservative ineptitude? Sounds like something to meditate about.

Also attempt to contact some Entity interested in talking with me.

Tweaked the page.

Slog's full hearts were shipping outwards, not inwards. Slong loves everyone, but not everyone loves Slog.

"Likely to have a rather high pain-to-gain ratio. And that's assuming the machines are even equipped for skinning. Hardly ideal, unless you're the type who enjoys people being skinned alive.

Make School indestructible
[1] YOU INJECT HOT ADAMANTIUM INTO THE WALL. SERIOUS DAMAGE IS DONE. YOU SHOULD PROBABLY RUN BEFORE SOMEONE SEES.
One turn. You have exceeded expectations...not in a good way.

Put his body on a cross, then nail that cross on the wall of the school so that anyone knows not to mess with me.
Trying to decide if I should complain about this for the obvious reason or make a joke about apathy towards promoting religion in schools.

Escape.
