Worth a shot.

consider Easter all the greater, as the day of his death.
Uh, no. Good Friday is the day of his death. Easter is the day of his resurrection.
Assorted gods dammit. Note to self: Even if posting in TWoOtA, keep your head in the game and not on the why is rwby so enjoyable anyways? Distractions lead to embarrassing mistakes.
At least it's the kind of embarrassing mistake where the correction strengthens my point. I like those. Hey look someone's designing TF2 maps.

Then why is it called Good Friday?
#1  "Hey, the Son of God died. What should we remember this day by?"
#2  "How about Good Friday?"
#1  "Sure, nothing strange or contradictory about that. It's not even ironic!"
I'd like to note that, since I was raised Lutheran, I totally have the right to mock Christianity. Also, if you don't like people mocking Christianity, you should probably skip the next paragraph. And probably every paragraph I mention religion in.
What do you expect, from a religion that eats the flesh and drinks the blood of their savior? Especially given that more orthodox sects believe that the bread and wine are literally transformed into Jesus's flesh and blood! Creepy, just like every cult whose holy symbol is a torture/execution device. Which was used to kill the holiest people in their religion. And don't get me started on their other laws and traditions. Creepy. Who would do that to a newborn?

It derives from an earlier use of the word Good that stood for Pious or Holy.

On a random trivia note, Good Bye derives from a contraction of the phrase "God be with you!" used in the 16th century
Shush, we're mocking the dominant religion of most of the Western world.
And "Zounds" was "God's Wounds," and "OK" was...well...about a dozen things. Your point?

...and slightly creepy. Plus, I have yet to see Ciro turn water into wine.

In fact, Ciro has actually killed innocents! Right, Wilford? Oh, riiigght, she killed you!
This is another of those paragraphs that I mock religion.
So did Jesus. Poor fig tree. Not to mention other major Christian figures like God, Abraham (indirectly), God again, Lot, God yet again, Dinah, God is a lot of these examples isn't he, Moses, I'm thinking maybe I should stop bringing up God, arguably all of Israel, Big G again, and again, either God or the Israelites (again), geez what's wrong with this guy, another classic Moses to liven things up, God and the Israelites again, God one last time, and lots of people (especially God) after Exodus (and unmentioned in those first couple books).
And hey, God's Jesus, isn't he? If anything, we're being too nice!
...Maybe I should stop commenting on the religion-related posts before I get a bunch of people with stones knocking on my door.

...are we sure we're the good guys? It is really hard to tell.
We're the bad guys who want what's probably best for the Warrens at large. Unless we're being mislead again. Or incompetent.
...
Yeah.

It's a Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann fanfic.  The real story starts after we bust out of underground.
So what you're saying is: Ciro: Bloodshape drill?

one word
dragons
Heh I'm such a copycat.  I took your dragon idea and made them poisonous.
Also, my dragons are sentient as well, in case that was in doubt.
You're all copycats.

Hm...gone for ~three days unexpectedly...in a god game...
Nope! My character didn't get killed mere hours before I returned. That's nice.

So should we ham fist Will into being recruited by Arthur?
I'm back, so...that works, I guess...

Heh, just reading IC from december and just remembered that Will still has the demon blood inside him and a fiery seal on his arm in the form of a tattoo.
Seal...forgot that bit.
...
I should probably revisit that sometime.

Well, originally only persona users got them to be a bit stronger but then people got butt hurt over that...
...because
A. it makes no sense,
B. it's more interesting when people have unique perks,
C. personae aren't inherently weaker, and
D. the GM providing perks lets him adjust the relative power levels of people to help balance. In theory.

Kyle gets much stronger perks though. This fear-attack is a battle-decider, and having physical damage halved? that's gigantic
Hence my above statement. Especially since Kyle, between his tech and his persona, is one of the more versatile and more battle-capable characters.

Kyle gets stronger perks because Personae can't really do much short of attack the enemy with whatever it has as a weapon outside those.
Riiight.

Quote
Those aren't perks, either, as much as active and passive skills.
So, they're perks.

but ghost Kyle haunting the showers might be hilarious
Like Moaning Myrtle. Including depression and choice of typically-haunted locations.

((First-generation Vampire. Powerscale wise, think somewhere between gods and angels, except the eighth which could get into a powerstruggle with Shys and have it be a tossup.))
That doesn't sound very compelling seeing as it seems more like something to dogpile GM-fiat grade entities onto rather than players, after all, if they're that dangerous, why the hell would the players fight them?
*cough*Dumah*cough*
Then again, we lost that. And it was one of the weaker adventures.

What sort of time system is used in this setting anyway? Is time a continuum, or do chronons exist?
Time travel being banned, not much.

aaaand back. All went well, I am excited. Place is as good as secure. Alsi fingers are all discolored form the metric ton of oranges I cut up, it's like chemistry all over again
Where did you do chemistry, and why didn't you wear gloves?
Anyways, congrats.

The job. I haven't been paying much attention to the thread. Also...
Definitely Ruby. Looks like Ozpin's hand.
And not really "tiny." Chibi, definitely.

Kyle built the Arc Reactor.
Did he do it in a cave, with rocks, just so he could use the quote?

*shrug*
Have fun trying to. You're gonna need a lot of engines and work.
And restructuring the castle so it doesn't fall apart.
Want a brief physics rant?

It didn't seem that hard in Captain America.
...
Moving on.

Or containing a cat with a 50% chance of being dead and a 50% change of being alive with it being impossible to determine without opening the box?
Pandora is not a theoretical physicist. It's an online radio station, a planet full of hive-minded wildlife suspiciously reminiscent of Sid Meier's Chiron, and of course a mythical Greek girl, but not a theoretical physicist!

Quote
Or alternatively, containing a cat made entirely out of a swarm sentient razor blades that have a taste for eyes and genital skin (the blades, not the cat) with a 50% chance of being dead from smothering and a 50% change of being alive with it being impossible to determine without opening the box? With the box locked from the inside and thus impossible for the cat to have been killed without opening the box and impossible to have locked the box from the outside? :P
That's just being silly.

I...I realy I have no idea how this is all happening. Two of the biggest and most prestigous hotels in Berlin are actually *fighting* for me. That's 2 interviews I had so far, and 2 100% yes's. Since when was this so easy? Did I somehow get a huge charisma update without knowing? Was the world patched and I didn't check the patch notes?
Hm. Apparently, I'm Internet quasi-frenemies with the next big German chef.
(Unless you're lying.) If you're being honest, congrats!

If I didn't know better I would make an expy of Kyle from TA. But he would probably be ignored.
We already have one. He's creatively named Kyle Johnson.
And I'm probably missing vital IC context, but this is funnier.

Well, he's a bisexual half-fairy with wings that exude dust that is basically magic LSD that can be melted into an oil he's great with animals and has a magic pack of tarot cards that can make money, summon swords in a rain of death, and make peolple luckier.
Eh.

same as I told Elf, just people doing things on their own will not get much attention, it works better to be the one who is initiating the conversation
Very much. Existing and hoping friends will just appear doesn't usually work very well IRL. I can count the number of times it's happened to me on one hand, and I barely saw the guy after the campaign we were playing fell apart.

Incidentally, what's been happening lately?

I have a bad case of being a drug addict with a full time job and a budding social life. :P
Wait what?

Also, Seldain's the shapeshifter, right?

I killed the team leader accidentally and am now playing deadly hangman.

Is that all?

Welcome back G.
Glad to be back. Also glad that no one's called e GWJesus like the last time I vanished for three days. And that nickname suddenly makes more sense.

You say that you're healing your hand, but what if your actual plan is to shoot me?
My responses are drawing very close parallels to YECs. As in, when I argue against them.

I see. I hope that Tiruin hasn't rigged explosives or anything.
Maybe McCarthy would be a more precise analogy, though.

So we can't know if Remalle has ever acted or not.
Seems fair. >_>
Well, think about it logically.

I've been thinking this too. Thawed is done with, right? So it's time to move on, whatever happened there can be settled outside of ER. If KJ wants to play, it's his right, and PW can handle that however he wants as the GM.
It's best if we all just Let it Go.
....I'm sorry, but they made me do it against my will. But really, we need to breathe a little.
1. Wrong Kyle.
2. I never said he couldn't. I said his character in another game (Rise of the Magic Girls) was an idiot.

I know.  I can count to thirty-one on one hand.  And I don't think it's been rolled more than that.
Oh, I very much doubt that.
Hand 1: 11111 Hand 2: not used
11111 in binary = 31
There are much more efficient uses of fingers than using each finger as a 1 :P
Alright, my statement was ambiguous. I meant that I doubted the second half.

And guys, when GWG comes back, we really shouldn't keep goading him onto his soapbox again. This goes for everyone, especially a few individuals, including PW and myself. If he ever starts getting out of hand, don't reply until he posts that's he's calmed down or something. If he doesn't, it's no use trying to stay in the ring with a raging bull. I'm not just saying this for his sake, but all of y'all as well, because Toady knows what's up and if you instigate him there's a fair chance your ass is getting in trouble too.
I'd appreciate that. We all have buttons, it's just that everyone seems to know mine. Possibly because I'm more vocal about their existence and identities. Not the point.

It's like a really slow reverse strip tease.
So far, like a slowed-down reversed version of Kyle*. I think I'm liking how that's shaping up.
*RotMG!Kyle, not TA!Kyle, Thawed!Kyle, or any of the zillions of other Kyles you see lying around.

So... does anyone want to take their chances and say say "Order [Random number]" in the hopes that it makes the Sods escort them, assist them or spontaneously break dance?
It'll be like Perplexicon except as a squad command game! :P
I like this idea because I'm nowhere near the line of fire.

Suicide bombers with kiloton nukes and a deadmanswitch? Glorified artillery spotters for orbital bombardment?
Somehow, I don't think Ms. Dealt With G-32 would be impeded by a mere kiloton nuke.

Wonder what the little girl from the serial killer mission is doing. Maybe someone should pay her a visit. That will certainly end perfectly well.
Indeed.

I already know which combo I'm trying first.
↑↑↓↓←→←→BA[start]?
Also, huh?

I just remember reading about it.
And I remember reading about the CIA trying to exploit psychic powers. Doesn't mean it worked.
Sadly.

For the team with the only firearm in a no holds barred blood sport, red team is doing laughably bad.
You mean blue team?
They're both the same!

I agree with being attached to things.  My character feels like he has been saved twice by the Tear of Timmy, so he is going to make a good luck charm out of it.  Or maybe I could have it embedded in my robobody.  Or maybe I could try to use it to get me a new body...
The pill machine's available. One token plus expenses. And by expenses I mean "if you blow things up, Grate can't be held liable".

You could talk to steve to kill time, if you'd like.
Why was the first thought that popped into my head "Could he talk to time to kill Steve?"

Anyways, what's been going on in the arena?

Ship Beta: Team F: Grate: I Blame You And Your Cesspool Even Though They're Mostly Unrelated To My Muting (Which Had To Do With Replying To Really Old Posts About Civilization V)

Examine the control panel. Open the door to the Bridge if the way to do so is fairly obvious. Enter the bridge. Run away if I get shot, attacked, and/or killed.

1602
Alright. Sorry for not updating on Sunday as promised. I had the update ready, but then I discovered I was muted when I tried to post it. Just my luck, I guess...
Anyways. Short version, we landed on the Minmal surface pretty well, but with two complications. The first is that we're not sure which hex we wound up in; we could be in a hex we know has kethane, in a hex that probably has kethane, or a hex that probably doesn't have kethane. The second, and more important, is that we wound up falling over and landing on our (surprisingly sturdy) solar panels. Nothing I tried got it to get back up without crashing. So, we are instead going to need to get it up with some other method. I can think of a few suggestions, like a "tractor" vehicle or a winch or something, but I'm interested to see what you guys advise me to do. So...let's get brainstorming and voting, I guess.

A peaceful beginning? Remarkable. Trying to figure out what would make them do that...

Assuming that there aren't mountains in the way. Or forests. Both of these were impeding my previous attempted conquests some, and before you cry about how I shouldn't be attacking people in fortified positions, consider these facts:
1. Rather few cities are without some variety of terrain protection.
2. It doesn't matter how many trees there are outside your city, or how few passes there are to it. If the enemy is besieging you, you're going to be giving in sooner rather than later. (Find one siege that lasted as long as a decade. How many are there that even lasted a year?)

By fighting... outside... sieges? I honestly don't see your point here. You are sending them off on a war. Against enemy units. Which give XP.
It was suggested that I not send inexperienced units to war.
And I can't level up units by killing enemy units when the enemy has no army. Which should also make it absurdly easy to conquer them.

Man you are really bad if you can't take a city with 20 dudes. How many ages in technology behind were you? 5? 6?
I didn't have "20 dudes". I couldn't fit "20 dudes" around that city. And I'm actually ahead in technology.

Anyways, I captured Kathmandu. After more than a dozen further turns of spamming bombard commands against an unguarded city. With several bowmen, a swordsman, a Great General, and assorted other city-attacking bonuses like bowmen with Siege and the Statue of Zeus. I shudder to think about how much worse it would be if I didn't have those bonuses...Sure, I won in the end, but it shouldn't have taken dozens of turns. Especially since the game was on quick speed.
You know, for all that the game seems to be trying to do to reduce unit spam, it's amazing how unit spam is the only way to capture even unguarded cities.
