We appear to have eleven character sheets. This is almost twice the number of characters I intended to let in.

Anyways...

Petition to name this secret organization Cauldron.

Man, you wish you were Cauldron. Cauldron's got like a five-year head start on you guys. Probably best not to tick them off. But who knows, maybe you can beat them to market the product.

Characters In:
Irine (Lenglon). As noted, that's great.
William Park (Remalle). He has a backstory.
Gary Johnson/Shade. Backstories are great. But why did I think Gary had one?
Walter Green (Scood). Yay backstory.
Frederick (Errol). Backstory.
James Braxton (jetex1911). Even if you don't have a backstory, you clearly put an above-average amount of work into the character.
Petra Kahler (Flying Dice). You seem like your character would be an...interesting addition to the mix.

Sorry to the others; I'll waitlist you. Scientists who are in, please submit your turns!

Well… I feel like a dick cause of how TMC died right there…
Well, it certainly isn't his fault. Someone put a wall in his way!

Move to Q12. Switch to pistol.

  • Hitting the thing with the other thing is only a single thing you do.  Even if the things you hit with are as varied as a hammer, a longspear, a fist, an arrow, and a fireball spell, you still only really bring 1 option to the table: inflict hit point damage.
That being said, it doesn't hurt to invest in multiple other things to hit the things with. A duskblade/eldritch knight/etc might have a few spells for distant enemies or creatures with high AC/low saves, a magical bow for dragons, a silver mace for the undead, and a sword for everyday work.

Actually the last character I played included a couple Fighter levels, but that only because I needed 13 feats by level 6 for an experimental "minigun" setup.
...I want to hear more.

Anyways, PbP is great. IRC...maybe.

((I will not be participating on the mission. No offense to @Projeck, but I dislike the manner in which it is run, it in my opinion at least, lacks a sense of agency and seems rather rail roaded in the "That can't happen because plot" department.))
((Strangely enough, I feel the same way.))

((Oh, and aren't Selina and Victoria still like 60 feet tall?))

15906
By the way...is the Link system still up?

Angel watches Lyle.

"...I'm bored."
She decides to play a prank on Max.

Angel stares at Max, then wanders away. A few minutes later, Lyle is dragged out of Max's pocket by the water in his body and made to stare at Max's chest. Max presumably notices Lyle at this point. Suddenly, Max's chest doubles in size. Sadly, her clothes do not change in size...
Max presumably remembers that Lyle can use size magic.

((And now for bed, before I stay up until midnight again.))

Something non-silly?

Angel watches, then summons and plays with some water.

Talents:
-Powered (2): You have a superpower! You can make a suggestion, but in the end I will be deciding what it is. I will be fair, I will try to grant your request, but don't abuse it!

Power request: Lively Speech: Able to create something from nothing and change something into something else by describing its qualities or the nature of the change. The greater the depth of description, the more accurate and useful the creation or change will be. Effects are reduced in quality by 50% if the description is mental rather than spoken aloud.

I'll leave it to you to decide how to balance it, in terms of hard limits on: size/volume, physical qualities, whether something like it already exists (conceptual vs. real), if temporary & local alterations are limited to things like making holes in walls, or if it can temporarily change physical laws, etc. I've already built one major drawback into it, in that it requires an extended "cast" time with verbal component to be very useful. I see two ways to balance it further: either allow more dramatic uses of it but impose a cap on use (basically require a mana-equivalent to cast), or make it freely usable but only with the less powerful applications. Or another route, if you have one.
I'm going to say no. Firstly, "The ability to make or change things by talking" is hard to balance, period. Secondly, the focus is supposed to be on your work as scientists, not on your own powers; the powers are supposed to be neat little quirks which a few of you might have.

Well, I was planning to let six in, we have one character, one needs-a-little-work character, and four reserves. As the only prepared character when we have enough, the first character, and the only non-reserve, Lenglon is definitely in.

"...Okay." Angel isn't sure if she believes Max.
[87+124+27+12] Max's hands are about twice as big, with the fingers three times as long.

15912
"What's so funny? ...What were you originally thinking of?"

15913
"Hm..."
[79+123+17+11-50=189]
Lyle's head is suddenly a few times the size it should be. Because of his small size, he doesn't fall over, but it's certainly surprising.
Angel claps.
"That was cool! Max, do you have any body parts you want me to make bigger?"

15914
[38+122+50+10-50] Angel concentrates on the bag, and soon its interior is several times the size it was before.
"Next?"

Ely, Nevada
The town your facility is just outside of. 4,000 people and change, making it the largest city in the region. Yeah, Nevada's sparsely populated except for where there are a ton of people. It has a little museum, a historic hotel, and a few other things.
