Water is pouring out of Gerard's window.
His captors probably should check on him.
Some time after the timeskip, they placed a force field over the window just long enough to determine that you were unable or unwilling to let the water drain rather than drown. Then they flooded what was left of the air in the room with some kind of gas.
Gerard awakes in a room much like the one he was in, but with a bucket instead of any kind of plumbing. There is a note next to the bucket.
