Roll To Dodge / Re: Special People: Wisdom of the Crowd

<<What are you people even doing? I'm fighting the giant robot all by myself! Help would be nice.>>
((Isn't that how I died?
...Wait, I think I had help. From the guy complaining about not having help.))

Alright. One arena battle, which we didn't even do and which has been stated to occur in a different universe, has involved a Kingdom Hearts thing.

Not enough to assume that the central, defining mechanic of the Warrens works exactly like KH.

1698
Horus is pro at making heavy golems
There's a difference between "heavy" and "pointlessly, physics-breakingly heavy which forces her to be made out of something that undermines her very nature".
She's a wall guardian, shouldn't she be made out of...you know...stuff walls are made out of?

Also, people would probably ignore it for the most part. Like Emp's new character.
People will ignore many things. This doesn't mean that they're okay.

Magic.
Really that's not even something that would be difficult.
...You'd have to manufacture every iota of stuff making up Neferis magically. And there are plenty of other, easier ways to get the desired "hits-like-a-truck" thing without needing to add magic to make her not smash through floors and the Earth's crust and such.

And stop using magic to make everything that makes no sense okay. I'm this close to having something absolutely absurd happen and blaming it on magic.

Load official DMR forums on futuristic space computer, make game mode suggestion.

Quote
Mode Name: Rock'em Sock'em Robots
Type: Team Deathmatch
Setup: Each team is given one remote controlled prosthetic body armed with a single sock containing a doorknob.
Each team elects one member as "controller", this individuals nervous system is temporarily slaved to the "robot" and  therefore cannot move on their own.
Arena: maze or abandoned building.
Scoring: Killing robot earns no points, kills with sock score double.
Rules: Each team must protect their controller whilst attempting to kill the enemy, victory occurs when enemy controller is killed.
Alternatively, put contestants in an exoskelton, put those suits under remote control, then give the controls... to the audience.
I like it.
Twitch Plays: Rock-Em-Sock-Em Robots? Or maybe QWOP-Em-Sock-Em Robots?

Of course it can recycle air.  Several missions have been in airless voids; the yearlong mission had players out there for days.
Really? I thought they returned to base more often than that.

*whistles innocently*
Simus knows that won't happen again.

Irrelevant.
Hardly.

Because they've probably done that? I agree that the UWM will probably design their ships to be "light". But the ships still weigh enough that they would collapse under their own mass if they ever landed on a planet without one of the special docking cages the Sword is currently in. That's still an enormous amount of mass. Sure, the amount of heat poured into the corridor would have buckled it to hell, and maybe some adjacent corridors too. But you might as well have tried to distort a metal plate with a match than actually affect the superstructure of the ship.
Assuming that the ship is actually that solid. Which, given that it has (relatively) spacious corridors without equipment poking through, it probably isn't.

My finger is hovering above the "Vent OOC compartment" here.
You want all this crap in the IC threads?

>When we leave, simus and her crew may get the opportunity to do so, should they build the facilities...
...
I approve of this plan.

Mundane, as in made of atoms.

1703
I'm willing to name the dragon if you let me play it...

1704
She weighs a couple tons, but due to magic she doesn't act like it.
Is this a bad time to remind you that that mass requires densities impossible for mundane matter?

2. This isn't Kingdom Hearts
FFS has repeatedly said that pretty much all the elements were taken from somewhere else. Keep that in mind.
So? There's lots of potential parallels with video games that don't get used, and I haven't seen anything from Kingdom Hearts.

Try to authenticate again, except rhyme this time.

If we plan to unIllborn Goom-bess, it'd be good to have a standard of comparison for a pre/post scan.
+1, both Tattle and Polar Eye.

1. He'd probably die of asphyxiation first. Or thirst, if the suit managed to cycle air with another of its oft-unmentioned capabilities.
2. He'd be rescued before he could die of thirst, because people care about him. Simus isn't about to leave a handyman behind.
3. How does that end well for Lars, again?

(You know, I actually like the working together missions more then I'd like the concept of an arena. Because I like when a plan goes spectacularly wrong and the only way for an arena to go spectacularly wrong is if everyone agreed not to kill each other.
((Agreed. Still, a little arena now and again can't hurt.))

After some discussion with @Elf and @Xantalos, I've decided to rejoin as a portal to spread the latter's influence portable shipping/promiscuity dampener.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I feel like introducing a superego-projecting character.
But I've already got a planned new character.

And Kyle would be able to fuck with it since his helmet exudes antimagic fielding.
He'd be willing to screw it regardless.

If anyone wants to scream anything into the head of someone in the field, just bold it and put it in a quote. I'll start using the "Out of context and funny quotes thread" for more material as well.
Take one at a time. Sparingly.
"You are all insane."
"No, seriously, what's wrong with you people?"
"No, we are not discussing that subject any further. You're crazy."
"Why are you trying to ship everyone?"
"The Laws of Thermodynamics do not disprove evolution. You show ignorance of several important scientific concepts."

ohhhh yeah. I'm in the next round. Test-work on tuesday, which is more or less 2-3 hours of me simply trying to not embarrass myself, also a second interview with the personnel chef once she returns from holidays, from what I heared, just a standard questionair, simply maths, etc.
when the headchef asked me if I have any other interviewes scheduled, and I told him yes, quote: "Don't bother going."

ohhh yeaaah
Sounds good. Congratulations on your pending employment!

on d50s, a reasonable decrease is -5 for every attack already dodged, possibly -10 for every hit already taken, as those tend to send you offbalance even more, but that is optional
That works. I've been using -1 per attack, but then that's when there were dozens of attackers.

well, GWG never confirmed wether or not Will is going to sniper that bitch, he might, he might not, who knows
He's in a different corner of France. Unless Paris has extremely lax gun control laws and Will has a rifle with enough range to reach the castle (and can manage to land a hit at that range, power or no), he's not likely to be able to help.

1709
Will watches the battle over the bracelets from his hotel room, keeping an eye out for inconsistencies between what is seen and what is known, or between bracelets, or for any other signs of illusions or mind-affecting effects.

Ask Goom-Bess if she has any problems with being "upgraded" by Polydectes. If the answer is no, we should probably upgrade her instead. Yes, Slog is adorable; there's no questioning that. However, he's absolutely useless. While I do want to avoid killing him because, well, d'aww, I certainly don't want to waste resources on him.

What if one of Slog's later skills is the ability to turn into King Slog at-will?
Alternatively, we may someday find an infinite food source.
What if one of Goom-Bess's later skills is precognition?
Alternatively, we may someday find an evidently impassable obstacle that Goom-Bess knows how to pass. Or a cannon fueled by trivia.

What? Who care's about looks?
When the difference in looks is the difference between more or less makeup? Basically no one.
When the difference in looks is the difference between a human and a horrible eldritch monstrosity? Basically everyone.

Quote
I'm thinking along the lines of Nobodies from Kingdom Hearts. A Person who loses their heart may create a Nobody if their Heart was strong enough. If their Heart was even stronger yet their Nobody will have their Humanoid form rather than the standard run-of-the-mill monster form.
Of course...
1. Heart =/= Soul Star
2. This isn't Kingdom Hearts
3. Riltia lost her Soul Star, and she turned into a horrible Illborn monster. Why wouldn't other Siblings do the same? You can handwave all you like, but unless you come up with a concrete reason why Riltia's case was so horribly, horribly away from what could happen elsewhere, you're just blathering.

Quote
So maybe if we did this Cain would just become a standard Illborn, because the condition to make him Willborn is fulfilled. Now in that case, if we did that would we come back to Cain's boss room and find a Hellyfish floating in his place?
No. Why the hell are you strawmanning me? That's like if I asked if you would expect to see Wilford in Cain's throne room.

Quote
I just think that siblings probably already fulfill whatever condition that causes Chief to look more-or-less normal and we'd find Cain looking more or less the same. Naturally, I've got no proof at this point but I find it a reasonable enough idea for the present.
And I find it a reasonable idea that the one example we have of an Illborn sibling, Willborn or no, is not horribly un-representative of the norm, and hence horribly monstrous Sibling Illborn are not something we can discount because of Kingdom Hearts.

-snip-
I like this theory.

Also, if this is true, we should really stop using Second Shift weapons.
Probably, yeah.

Quote from: Ciro
"Vi! Vi! What could possibly be interfering here?"
This implies that Ciro believes herself to have authority. I think that she's the Queen of Angels (and thus also the Lord/King; I can never remember which one is Oric), which is why Oric wants her dead.
"TRAINING'S DONE,
BYE BYE OLDFORD.
DOWN WITH THE KING
LONG LIVE THE LORD."
Sounds like Oric's the King. Probably.

That's hilarious and I don't know why.

I know that you will hate me, but we should use it to make Goombess a non-illborn.

Not a bad goal.
