Forum Games and Roleplaying / Re: Twilight Academy - A Magical School RP

1. I have read. I don't get what makes risking your life something children can do while letting a friend drink your blood (side effects or no, Angel's not going to die) is terrible. Is it the story thing? If so, why did Vornar argue so passionately for the Headmistress to basically destroy the plot?

2. I'm not using Nikki's appearance as an excuse, I'm using her personality as an excuse. If she looks like a child and acts like a child, why does it matter that she's actually a few centuries old?

3. I never said no side effects, I just said that the side effects pale in comparison to the side effects war can bring. Given that this list includes "DEATH" at the top in big letters, this isn't a big accomplishment.

Thank you for repeating what I've been saying.

I'm serious. When one of my major points a few posts back was "You're the only one who thinks X," it helps when others speak up in support of you.

Okay. Stop.
This is argumentum ad hominem, on a major scale.

This is not drugs. Moreover, I think that giving drugs (especially ones with as few side effects as these vampire bites) is much better than sending them into battle against eldritch foes.

I'm noticing a pattern. You ignore my questions and keep repeating how horrible it is that I'm fine with Angel giving consent to let Nikki drink her blood, whereas it's perfectly fine to let her sign her life over to the defense of the world against magical horrors.
Why? Why is letting her risk her life so much more acceptable than letting her basically give blood to a friend, who by the way will go into a coma if she doesn't, with the minor-compared-to-death side effect of addiction?

Also, psychologically, Nikki is not four hundred ninety-two. I'm not sure if she's nine psychologically.

The reason you are a hypocrite is that you say that the Headmistress letting Nikki drink blood from Angel (which Angel is fine with even pre-first-time, Nikki needs to survive, and which causes less harm than, say, fairy dust) is BAD AN' WRONG, but the Headmistress sending Angel on missions (which comes with a severe risk of death or permanent injury) is a-OK.

And you are the only person who has a problem with that. Moreover, you've never been able to pin down a reason for it being wrong past your claim that children can't make decisions (except when their life and probably existence and/or soul is being risked by their choice, of course), and that you see connections to paedophilia that no one else noticed or thought significant, and which don't really fit.

Wait, what did Nikki do? Both of you answer this.
Nikki drank Angel's and Meme's blood. With their permission.

She then allowed Angel to drink her blood without telling her what would happen.
Perhaps you forgot the part where she didn't exactly have a good state of mind when that happened? Something to do with Angel sucking on the most sensitive point of her body.

Oh, and I forgot something: Earlier this morning I realized that Angel drank Angerus's blood. Does Angerus have to make an Endurance check not to get addicted?

What makes you think she would get special treatment? Why do you think that she is going to be left behind when the rest of the Deltas go on missions? If that's what was happening, why was she put on the team in the first place?

And you have no problem that the people in charge let her risk her life in wars when she's five years old and completely untrained?

Angel volunteered, before she ever got bitten. She didn't know that it would feel nice, she didn't feel unholy affection coursing through her veins. She thought of Nikki as a friend, and also wanted the flesh that Nikki was going to pay Alex so she could have a tail which is much more unusual.

And you feel the need to defend children from making decisions that could make them feel differently towards friends, but not ones that could lead to them being killed or worse by eldritch abominations?

I'm fine with that. What I'm not fine with is Gamerlord continuing to say the same things without even trying to address the fundamental flaws with his argument.

I'm not claiming that Angel was fully capable of giving consent to give blood, I'm just saying that if she can give consent to die in a war against assorted horrors, giving a little blood to a friend isn't such a big deal.

Is GWG always this much of a bitch when someone disagrees with him? Because it is fucking annoying.
I'm a bitch because I don't just say, "Okay you're right, I'm a horrible person"?
I am not a bitch. I am a debater. So review logical fallacies so you can avoid them, get your arguments in order, and explain why I am wrong and you are right.
Okay then. Where are my logical fallacies? Also, my entire arguement is that a five year old cannot have a consenting relationship with a centuries old vampire.
Your horrible analogies were the big one. Your inability to nail down what you actually believed should count, in spirit at least.
Let's start with how you can't decide what you think.
Why did you not complain when Angel decided to fight in the war?

Maybe we could have a rule that lets us write circles smaller than normal? Circleception, if we have a thin enough writing implement and a steady enough hand.

I know the tech level thing makes sense gameplaywise, but it still makes no sense. Why would people not advance their tech while at peace? Sure war gets it to go faster, but still.
Part of it is that this is a simulation of medieval times, when innovation was rarer and nobles only funded projects they cared about. Which usually involved going to war.
Part of it is that, at this stage, most of the new technologies come directly from war.
Part of it is that the GM doesn't want to deal with advancing technologies all the time on top of dozens of players' actions.

Remuthra can see through all of the stars, and through the Moon. He is almost Omnipotent, and can see more than any other God.
Do you mean omniscient?

In other news: DUHN DUHN DUUUHN!

"... Riiiight. Do I need to activate the salt sprinklers? I can."
Nimue winced slightly--those things hurt when they get in your eye!--and reaches for the salt sprinkler controls.

"Nim, hold this." He hands her Pendragon, pulling out between the cut-in-half semi bits.
She does.

"Right. Let's go."
Nimue heads out the car and walks inside. She is still holding the Pendragon.

"I mean, I hated Vornar.. but not that much.."
"DUDE, HE WAS TRYING TO FUCKING MURDER NIKKI AND ANGEL! I FUCKING HAD TO GET ALL UP IN HIS MOTHERFUCKING GRILL OR PATRICIDE WOULD HAVE BEEN THE ORDER OF THE FUCKING DAY!"
...Patricide?

((I was projecting some of my own irrational fears in that previous post: I could've sworn I was perfectly fine before @Ragnarok made that disease resistance roll and now I've got a really bad cold. At least I think it's a cold. Maybe it's something worse. Or necrosis. Or pregnancy. Damn it @Ragnarok! What roll did I get? :P))
Well, if you think it's a cold, it's probably not pregnancy. Especially since you are not a girl.

Whatever, no more debating tonight. >_> And seriously Vorn should stop, you're getting dangerously close to the edge of how far I can fudge her patience...
Translation:
"This was a good day for the Headmistress. Most of the time she's much more short-tempered".
Was that death for Vornar standard or chosen to be ironic?

And to be fair, she seems to be in denial. She thinks she is doing all she can but she's not. That teleporting robots thing? From what you've told us Rag, completely doable.
Didn't you say you couldn't complain about the concept of the game?
That's out the window if the Headmistress can just throw teleporting magical robots at the problem.
(Although maybe having a nigh-omnipotent Headmistress was a poor idea...)

-Nikki: easily the character i hate the most. Too many connotations of paedophilia and other morally wrong things.
You seem to be the only one reading that into it. And consider:
Paedophiles do not need sexual intercourse with children to survive.

Quote
-Angel: badly written. Five year olds don't talk like that, no matter how mature they are. Also, GWG, it its fucking annoying how you decide to act like anything your characters do must be morally right because they are doing it. Seriously, a five year old cannot consent to a relationship with a centuries old vampire.
1. She is a child prodigy. Basically, I copied the personality from RotMG, where I should note no one ever complained about it. And no one else complained here.
2. Like the Headmistress said, if she can give consent to risk her life in a war, she can give consent to have her blood drank by a vampire.

Quote
-Kyle: i was gonna have SO much fun with kyle. Messing with his head and shit. Oh well.
You really don't get why we hated Vornar, do you?

Quote
And finally, Vornar.
I want to explain why Vornar acted the way he did. You see, in Vornar's old city with his old friends, they killed people who hurt children. Painfully. Slowly. His entire life, Vornar learnt that there is no forgiveness for harming a child. None at all. Also, he learnt that Fae are dicks.
He also learnt that if you have power and you don't use it, you deserve no better than those who you enable. 'Evil triumphs when good men do nothing' and all that, which is why he was so confrontational with the headmistress at the end. He knew that she could stop all the unhappiness in the world with the barest of thoughts, if only she would look for the loopholes. But she wouldn't and handled Vornar pointing those loopholes out to her quite badly. So Vornar got killed.
I see.
Which doesn't explain why he was always a jerk beforehand, or why he didn't say a word when Angel basically agreed to risk her life whenever she had to, but whatever. It's not like one of your complaints for...two or three of the characters was how they were inconsistent with their given traits.
Oh wait.
That makes you a hypocrite. And if you pull out the "It's the core concept of the game" thing, why did you complain about the Headmistress not doing everything?
Still a hypocrite.

I was kinda hoping for a conversation with Death, maybe a (rigged) game of chance to come back to life, then off to the afterlife for a tearful reunion with my gang and a satisfying climax to Vornar's story.
Sucks. You complain about the GM's way of playing the game and most of the players, fail to notice that you are being a hypocrite, and oh yeah your character was basically a jerk to everyone until he met someone who fought back harder than he could take. After ignoring repeated warnings from her and the GM.
I don't care about this. We know it happens; leave it at that.

Clone me and give the result to Angel and Nikki to feed on. So basically he wants to desecrate my corpse.
Only from a very, very limited point of view.

Willing to die to make a point about how bad and morally inferior everyone else is, yet not willing to suffer some slight indignity to fix those problems.
How very Vornar.
Like I said, hypocritical.

But you don't know how cloning works in this! If it was perfect, why wouldn't the Dawnbreakers be using cloned soldiers?
There's a big gap between "Traps the soul in the new shell" and "Perfect".
Just make a magically-augmented version of real-world cloning, if magical cloning does that for some reason.

That's what the group the PCs are called right? Or am I getting this shit mixed up again?
It's more like a cross between an army and Twilight Academy's alumni organization.
