Does not matter to me. This issue is not something you can handwave away. A five year old cannot consent to have their blood drunk when it may result in the child being emotionally bound to the drinker.

And yet they can choose to go into battlefields with a massive monster that can kill experienced magic-users with ease, without a peep from Vornar or you?

Let's review two things:

1. The main part of the argument is based on if a five-year-old can decide to have small, harmless amounts of blood drawn. You have a problem with this, but no problem with the same child deciding to basically become a soldier her entire life.
