That's a pretty good question, isn't it? Have we seen anything that the merchants sell that would benefit anyone who wasn't us? Backpacks and health potions, maybe. Weapons for self defense, but once that is accomplished then what? Most people don't seem to bother to leave their homes, every time we amble along it's a ghost town. Are there really not a lot of people there, or are they hiding from us? Heck, also draws to question as to where other people are getting this money, as we've yet to find a source of it that isn't adventuring.

Take the Underside Market, a market place for that small hamlet, the closest we have to some kind of shop that might interest the average person is the quotations shop, that seems to be the closest anyone has to actual food or nick-knacks. Everything else has been weapons, potions, magic, regular adventurer fare the kind of like you would expect in a town that would base their economy around adventurers, but we haven't really seen any other adventurers beyond us or Yaos though, have we? So is most of this economy based around us? Why?

Heck, the tip store is basically the plot information Oric sells under a new name, insider information for coin. Oric doesn't care for coin even though they have obvious differences in value amongst the merchants. A river dollar to him is worth the same as a pence when buying, yet offers different rates when selling.

For now, we don't have enough information to know what is up beyond that something is up. I'm thinking that theory that this is all a mascaraed to distract us has a good bit of ground.
