I have been through RotMG. I have seen the best and worst shipping has to offer.

I'm also not coming on any other night.

As some of you may know, I'm cutting back on my Bay12 time. I was looking at some tabs I had left open for making my new character and thought, "What is the game I play where I have the lowest Fun:Time Spent ratio"? A World Asunder. Aside from time making characters, arguing with the GM on the forums, etc, there's a few solid hours each week we run. Not good hours, either; hours in the middle of the night. And what do I get for all that?
I strongly dislike Wrex's GMing style, especially the bit where he complains about my character's optimization level without actually explaining why and stuff like that. From Drak's general abuse to how I was the bad guy when I refused to go along with a moronic and barely-explained-to-me plan, the players aren't much better. And the gameplay itself? Boring. Most of the time I've been "playing," lately, I've been alt-tabbed to the forums, playing games I actually enjoy. Sessions of nothing but combat interspersed with sessions of exploring dungeons to find combat...yay, an experience I could get from a free game on Steam. I played Everquest and D&D Online for a little each before realizing that MMORPGs are nothing like real ones. This isn't much like one either; it's mostly hack, slash, bash. When it's not, it's mostly "Make fun of Drak" and stuff like that. When was the last time something good happened to Drak? Everyone mostly-inexplicably hates him, even before they get to know him. The party hates him. He gets as much abuse as he will take before taking damage. I could go on, but that discussion has been done. Back then, I thought the problem was Drak. I was wrong.

The problem is the campaign.

I don't play D&D to kill monsters by rolling dice. I play D&D to make plans and watch them fall apart, to accomplish things. What have I accomplished? The world is still screwed, there's just a few more people aware of it. On a party-interaction level, everyone hates Drak, and the only progress he's made is being given a spot in Asrean's backpack. Even his awesome moments, when I made those crazy plans, never affected how the group saw Drak for more than a session. I could set my kobold on fire, grab the main warrior's sword, and divebomb a troll (again*), and I'd be lucky if I got a "Cool" or three and if they stopped picking on Drak for a session.

I don't play D&D to be insulted.


So. I'm leaving. Drak's leaving, and as noted he's leaving that secret treasure⁺ in the party's food before he does so. A parting gift; be glad he's trying not to stoop to the level of the drow, or he'd quite possibly slit your throats^~.

You don't like that? Fine. Kill Drak. String him up, let him rot. Sell his hide to a rag man for a copper. I. Don't. Care. Bluntly put, I hate this campaign and have only been playing it because it's one of the first games I joined when I joined the FGaRP community. It should have been one of the first games I've quit, too, only I'm too stubborn to do that myself. Now that I'm cutting so many other games out, it seems incomplete not to cut out this rotten game that's sucking up so much of my time.

*From a campaign where the barbarian was played by the guy who usually makes all the great plans.
⁺Was this a poor choice on my part? Maybe. But it wasn't because of me. If Wrex hadn't whispered the treasure to me, I wouldn't have kept it secret.

TL;DR: I hate this campaign, released a lot of bile I've built up over my treatment, stated some criticisms, gave Drak's final revenge, and quit.

That's not what I was thinking of as the worst-case scenario, but strangely enough that is worse than them being trained adults trying to kill us.
