General Discussion / Re: YouTube Video Downloading
« on: April 10, 2014, 09:50:40 am »
If you can convert from mp4, Keepvid is an easy way of downloading videos without downloading software*. I'm assuming you don't have other video editing software.
*Assuming you already have java.
Just WMM. AFAIK.
And yeah, if I can find a way to convert files I'll be good. I think someone suggested something...

If Youtube Centre on Chrome acts the same as on Firefox it should just add a download button (with options) below the video. There should also be an additional settings button at the top of the page that lets you set the default format, quality, etc.
...Centre? I think I have the wrong thing.
If it's Centre, I can't find it.

Roll To Dodge / Re: Thawed (Again?!?)

"I think I know what time it is."

That's right, corpse counting time! Who's alive, who's dead? It's a mystery, but not for long! Let's count the corpses, take the nicer loot of the dead and be happy and singing about those melting icemen! Yes! Also check if that Finna lady is dead or not. Fingers crossed, people!
There were two dozen soldiers, plus Finna. Several fell to the icemen; they are dead, either killed by them, mortally wounded, or else just unable to dodge your collective flaming wrath. Several more indisputably died from your flames and lights. There are eleven surviving soldiers, half of whom are badly wounded. Only two are more or less unharmed.
Finna: [3+1]
Finna isn't in great shape, but she's alive. And angry.

Kyle digs up the crystal while it's small qnd then continues following Selina.
"What the hell lass! I was trying to help!"
Selina keeps running until she can find a place to bandage up M. More crystal blasts at people's feet if they to follow.
Kyle attempts to convince Selina to wait up. It seems, however, that he doesn't know how to talk to women except to get them to sleep with him. Might explain why Finna doesn't like him. Anyways, Selina's zapping him.
Focus: [5+0.4=6]
Power: [2]
Control: [3-0.2=3]
Selina's magic crystallizes into a low, wide wall. Kyle hops over it and continues.
Kyle: [1-0.2-0.2=0]
Selina: [3+1-1=3]
Not for long, though--he quickly trips. His ankle hurts.

"I think I know what time it is."

Join in on the number! Tap dance even though we're in snow!
The only snow that was here came from the Icemen, and that's all gone by now.
You tap-dance over to Kext. Despite the fact that you don't have tap shoes, and the ground isn't nearly hard enough for those to make the trademark tappy sounds anyways. Everyone alive gives you funny looks.

Wake up, back to
Dash around, checking who dead and who not. Drag the dead to one side, so the healers can focus on the living.
[2] Zzz.

"Well, that was easy."
Brush yourself off, admire the bigass black spot that used to be the remnants of the enemy force, and...
Wait aren't we missing people? Fuck it, not my problem. TO THE BOSS LADY UNLESS I HAVE FURTHER ORDERS!

It's not so much a "big black spot" as a bit of sparse forest with a bunch of scorch marks of varying sizes and a lot of plants on fire. And a couple less team members than there should be.
You skip over to Finna and ask for orders.
"Think you can stop the fires? Those don't look good."

Everyone near Finna looks around and notes that, yes, there are fires. This is bad. They're still pretty small, but there's a lot of them. Fire tends to not be good at healing people.

What?
May is weird.

Oh. So, for all we know, he could have been spiking Grate's food with it?
No.
He did not.
Or I will figure out who's playing him and...do something. I'll figure out what later.
...
It's a bad something. But not so bad it's against forum rules or ER etiquette or the Geneva Convention or anything.

I wonder if it's possible that ER-verse synthflesh bodies are modeled after this timeline's Putin? Y'know, kinda like the Terminators...
The Terminators were modeled after Putin?

I kinda want to see sean try his hand at drawing Auron but i fear he may be a bit too complicated.

What with the industrial armored exosuit, jump rockets, slightly melted riot shield bolted to his left arm, extra long reiterpallasch, anomaly worm skull helmet, anomaly worm ribcage breastplate, urban executor skull shoulderguard, the auxilary weapon hardmount attached to the underside of his right forearm,  the custom heavy gauss/laser hybrid rifle and the loot/bodypart filled backpack.

Just seems to have a few too many components to me. :(
Has he ever included every bit of gear from anybody?

Einsteinian Roulette / Re: ER: Dead Man Running: Welcome to the Show.

Hm. Might as well see if I can't tie this back to ER somehow. Specifically, hitting Random Page and seeing what characters come up.
"Victor"? ...No background listed.
Grate? ...Alright.

Spoiler: Barn Oriole Gold (click to show/hide)

Quick question: About when does this take place in some standardized time, relative to ER?

Alright. I've got the Youtube Center add-on for Chrome (attempts to download Firefox were unsuccessful, somehow). Now...um...how do I use it?
And are you sure it's called Youtube Center?

I've been wondering...is it even possible to have an SSTO that doesn't have wings?
And, perhaps more importantly, does anyone have advice on how to get SSTO spaceplanes to orbit?

For the profits, the hell they arent. Those who make the guns make massive quantities of coin, while massive quantities of resources means more money.
1: War is profitable for the people who sell things to the warriors, not to the warriors themselves.
2. There are more resources in space than one could hope to use--or defend.

I see you dodged a bullet by avoiding placing the kukraine next to the kommune lands... Wait where is the kukraine? Did it get wiped off the map when that big Kuranium reactor kersploded ?
Korry, I was kaving too much kfun, ka ka ka ka. KOL. !!!1!one!kkkk!k
What does Kingdom of Loathing have to do with this?
Anyways, yeah, there's a lot of K's. But this is KSP, and again
I was out of good names.

Exactly how big is your payload, anyway? If you're playing with the ARM update especially, "less is more". The lifter that launches my VASIMR Asteroid Tug pretty much gets the whole thing to orbit by itself.
1. Career mode. No big rockets yet.
2. Um, not that big. Still, having a rocket I can fire-and=forget straight up out of Kerbal SoI isn't easy.

Quote
edit: of course, if you're in career it's a different story. But I just built a rocket that gets a 3-man capsule to escape velocity with like three engines, using a modified lifter stage of my asteroid tug. Had to stuff two extra ginormous halftanks on, and swap the little toroid engines for the humongous bell thrusters of doom, but it gets there no problem.
I'd like to point out that I'm operating under different restrictions than you. Restrictions I eventually gave up on, which makes me sorta sad because getting all those fuel tanks there would have made it much more impressive.

Are those all orange tanks? You should be able to get 40-50 tons up with those.
Nope. I don't have those researched yet.

Ah, man I hate it when people try to have Kerbal wars :(

The Kerbals never struck me as the geopolitics kind.
It doesn't have to be a big thing, it's just...a thing we can do.
Besides, not many of those nations are going to have things happening. They're there because worlds with a few all-powerful empires always seemed wrong to me. Also because I was partway through the first map before I realized I was out of good names.

its not really geopolitical...
Most of the combatants being corporations normally.
Which makes less sense, IMHO, than nations. War is rarely profitable.

Guildenstien and Rosenburg are dead.
People are reading the maps?!?

Manipulator Tennis: Combines Intelligence, Dexterity, Intuition, amazing special effects and hilariously deadly results when you miss. I'm certain the Sword's TV would show that sport if manips were widespread.
Sounds expensive, unless someone made a rechargeable manip battery.

Is there any evidence of him knowing about the pill-machine though? Additionally, you are defending an in-character decision using out-of-character knowledge to back it up, are you to say his actions weren't so reckless because of what his eldritch puppeteer knew?
He's got a better shot than anyone else.
No. I'm saying my actions weren't reckless because of my knowledge.
So in other words, we're arguing different things again?
Possibly.
Why does that keep happening?

Ship Beta: Team F: Grate

Brother Lars:  Team F Chaplain
Brother Lars raises his arms.  "Surely the gods are with us today!  Praise Cog-azaon for revealing the holy machinations of the machine to us.  Amen."
Head back the way we came to the green hallway to the bridge.
"Cogzon didn't show me anything..." Grate is a bit confused and pretty sure he should be annoyed. Religion never was part of his upbringing.

Follow Lars, probably offending my CO in the process.

<Lunette? Yomiko? How's the stuff I requested for the mission coming?>
<Yomiko's working on it..>
<Glad to hear it. Estimated time to complete it?>

<Well, anti-void requires void in the first place. And for them to both co-exist, is impossible, because the void would eat the anti-magic.>
<Firstly, generics. Secondly, demons. Thirdly, you. Any questions?>

Spoiler: O.O (click to show/hide)
I'm gonna stop reading the OOC thread until I've read the IC thread.

*does so*

...?

This RP has an unacceptable lack of dwarves.
Twi's request has been filed.

So an Eldritch abomination just appeared before me saying something about needing to assist kill me. I offered it hotdogs and now it's mowing my lawn...
Wha?

She could do that. Prooobably gonna stick with guns the size of the Large Hadron Collider,  tho.
The Large Hadron Collider is large enough that guns the same size as it would be pretty much impossible to aim.
"Be a dearie and stand in front of the barrel, will you?"

((I did.))
About time. This isn't the first time that formula problem was pointed out, or that it caused confusion.

And what was with the O.O's?

2205
<Really, that should be impossible...>
<And why is that? Especially since there are things that protect against not only those but also Persona, superpowers, divine abilities, etc?>
