Nuriel grabs Angel. "Um, bad news. I think that thing is still alive, and the house is burning down. C'mon, Angel, let's leave. Angel stops screaming and starts shaking uncontrollably. Nuriel sighs, picks her up, and hurries out of the house.
"Great, just great. Where is everyone not coffinified?" Nuriel starts to look for signs of other humans, such as screaming, panicking, or burning houses. Well, other than hers. ...Which could be a problem, now that she thought about it.

The Shadow thingy flinches, responding with a bit of flame. Nuriel is unaffected, but the hallway is set on fire. Angel screams.
"Shut it."
Nuriel, clever as always, blasts the thing with flame. This startles the Shadow but hurts it slightly less than the punch. It also makes the fire much, much worse.
Angel runs to her parents' room, only to discover that they are coffins. She screams loud enough that people passing by in the street can hear it.
