Actually, I'm disagreeing with the idea that life is technically for its own proliferation. It is a mechanical tendency, not a purpose. I prefer not to assign a "purpose" as it implies that there was an intent in the creation of it.

And he didn't get four arms until the mission he went into the memory of the ghost ship, IIRC, so not counting the timeskip he didn't get them until recently.

He definitely had four arms by the time Grate came around. I remember that clearly. And Grate came before the ghost ship.

To be frank, those plots were atrocious in my opinion. Your plot is better. But to be superior to something atrocious does not mean that it's good either.
