I'm having trouble imagining a way for them to be on the same side of the node and in danger of hitting us on accident, but maybe that's because I'm assuming that the ships will have distances more comparable to RL air combat than to RL atlatl combat.

The dwarves would be better-off flying around the rock than firing through it, and I doubt that the elves would waste time or ammunition on our house now that there are dwarves (and they know a skeletal-ice-dragon is in there). Besides, was that even a weapon? I don't think we found out exactly what it does.
