btw, speaking of trustworthiness of demons, what about their loyalty?

considering the price on Sehams head, it's odd that his underlings haven't offed him yet
It's kinda like the Prisoner's Dilemma in reverse. If any one tries to kill Seham, the rest will kill that one and get rewarded if they succeed. On the other hand, if no one kills Seham, they're pretty sure they can dominate this world--and, worst-case-scenario, they'll be able to claim part of it if Seham dies.
Besides, Seham's probably more powerful than most all the others. And there are a few that are loyal to him for non-intimidation reasons. Nuriel, for instance. This represents a way for Nuriel to get an approximation of what she wants. There's also his lieutenant, who is...I'm not sure, exactly. But I don't have to be until you meet him!

2612
Alright, this has gone on long enough.

Several more demons come to the frozen battlefield, where demons frozen by Luna and everyone else frozen by Sen stand around.
Kyle is defeated by sheer numbers and dragged to Seham's palace, and if you don't like that result you should have posted.

Nuriel is somewhere.
Will is in the castle, surfing the web.
Lily is...I dunno. Home, maybe?

2613
Another possibility: Whenever one hydra dies, everyone gets a head. Heads from the dead hydra get distributed first, then we bring in waitlisters to fill in the other slots.
No clue what happens when we have more heads than hydras. Everyone gets two heads?
Doesn't fit with the lore I've made.
*checks lore*
*checks lore again*
I...maybe see it?

(Heh, who uses 15 posts per page? 50 posts FTW)
*raises hand and growls*

Anyways. New chain. Shall we try for proper logic, just this once?

Trolls are insane.

Damn. Missed it.

Pollution is no longer the enemy. Pollution smells bad. Therefore, the enemy does not smell bad. Therefore, the enemy smells good.

Remember Pantheon, GWG? I remember Pantheon.
So do I. IMHO, I don't think the problem was the rules, but who was using them.

Quote
And technically the Overgod can be usurped and then killed if a bunch of really powerful beings pool their acts to make an ultimate act.
True, I guess.

Quote
Single combat round sounds better, though, and it'd have to be more acts the higher the being being taken on.
Indeed, if we want to get that in-depth.

You should post a thing saying that [GOD HERE] waits for the fun stuff, or something.

But then I only have torque from one location. I might as well not even have the things.

2618
That's nowhere near Ghostship-level brainage.
The AM hardly has the abilities of a ghostship, either.
More evidence against her being one.

Actually, questions for piecewise: how do they select Amp Specialists? Do they promote them from among the officer ranks, do psi testing like in X-COM or XCOM, just let people volunteer or do it some other way entirely? What do they even pay Amp Specialists? Do they pay them? What do Amp Specialists usually do in their spare time? How are they dealing with permanent disability? Do they go crazy a lot? Can they speak? Does anybody invite them to parties? Do they have a reasonable amount of free will, or are they basically people with acquired sodliness?
Are they even still sentient, or are they sod-like in brain activity?

2619
Can you fetch me the specific scenes where he said those things and show me a lack of reaction by those around him?
Not without pirating the movie and taking a screenshot. Sorry.

Quote
And they were partially justified in that the main reason she would be is i something bad happened.
And no one reacts to him calling the queen and the host a monster, after it's cooled down (mostly). I'm not buying it.

Quote
You stated a few days. It normally mean more than one.
It was at least two days.

Quote
You haven't said anything against my argument. WHY WOULD HANS' BOTHERS NOT KEEP HIM LOCKED UP AS HE IS OBVIOUSLY A THREAT TO THEIR CLAIMS ON THE THRONE?
...Because they have no justification to do so? And because he's their brother?

Quote
He is obviously not favored by anyone so there is no reason the king would let him continue running amok, ecpseacially when he has, what, nine brothers that want him as far from the throne as possible?
Twelve. And he's not a threat; there's several other brothers who take much higher precedence. There's no way Hans would make it to the throne.
And Hans "ran amok"? What has Hans done? He's gone to a coronation in search of a wife, been accused of heinous crimes by his fiancee, and sent back home in disgrace.

Quote
And another thing, why would they let him make an army considering how easy it would be for him to force the next in line to give over the throne with one?
It's not Hans's army. He doesn't control it.

Quote
And why is it common knowledge that an argument caused the winter?
Yes. No one is going to notice that the host and queen of this kingdom and her sister had a shouting match in the middle of a crowded ballroom. And no one will make the connection between Elsa shouting at Anna and instantly things start icing.
Besides, even if people don't like magic, they probably have at least some knowledge about it--enough to know that that's plausible.

Quote
Also, we aren't considering that they would probably have alies in one other kingdom that had a movie.
What makes you think that the kingdom from Tangled was allied with Arendell...or that they would continue being their allies when the new queen bestowed winter on everyone, and also managed to piss off her biggest trading partner and the Southern Isles? Heck, just "she promptly cut off trade with Weselton for no reason" would be enough to make me think twice.

Though I suspect things may change by the end of this RP when some characters manage to hear Elsa's side of the story. Already they distrust...
Well, they might change. Honestly, I'm not sure how much a handful of magicians will be able to change the minds of multiple kingdoms.
They might get better, though.

Quote
Isn't Hans the youngest son, and pretty solidly at the bottom of his family's pecking order? Family pride does go a long way, but it's not like he's the favorite or the heir. It would be a more likely motivation if the king took it as an insult to his family honor, rather than his son's individual honor. Which all things considered, he might.
Honor is honor. Semantics aren't too important.

Quote
TBH, the setting didn't look medieval to me. We don't see any muskets, but people are wearing 18th century (1700's) clothing rather than medieval or Renaissance period dress.
And yet, we see kings and queens without evidence of parliament, small kingdoms, political marriages being...sorta started planning, at least. (Well, I kinda gathered that that's what the Duke was aiming for in that scene towards the beginning. And don't get me started on Hans.)
Besides, the parts inspired by medieval society are hardly the core. No matter what, Arendell's going to be going through some rocky years of diplomacy.

He can raise an army because he's a member of the royal family, and presumably holds some sort of position in the military there.
Or his dear old Dad can. Or the Duke, who Elsa slighted (and cut off trade with). Or the various peasants who lost crops to the freeze.

Quote
Though given that he knows that Elsa controls her emotions via love, why not just hire an assassin (male or female doesn't really matter) to seduce her and then stab her in the throat while in a kiss or having sex or something to that effect, since her dampening emotion would likely reduce her danger sense and not let her powers get too out of hand. It's what I'd do if I were playing in this game.
1. Remember what Hans said about Elsa in his Reveal Scene? "No one was getting anywhere with her." Seducing Elsa is easier said than done.
2. Elsa's assassination would kill Elsa, but it wouldn't help anything else. No glory for Hans, no bride or power for him, and...I'm sure there's something in it for the other people involved.
3. She controls her magic via love, not her emotions.

Disney people.
If we're bringing in that logic, Disney people wouldn't think of assassinations at all.

See point two.
What if it was a Disney RTD?
I'm willing to take Disney's settings and characters at times, but not their style.

They also do have at least one ally of note.

Remember the kingdom in Tangled? There's a lot of hints that the king and queen of Arendel are related to the former king and queen of there.
Citations? Sure, they showed up, but so did the Prince of the Southern Isles, and the Duke of Weselton, and a bunch of unnamed guests. Probably most anyone who was associated with Arendell sent someone to the coronation...and they probably would cut associations once Elsa came out as a sorceress. And the person who caused a couple days of winter in the middle of summer, killing crops and all that.

Also, guns. Where are the guns? Do cannons exist in this setting? It feels like they should - it is a medieval setting, after all.))
I don't think so. They aren't in the source material.
...Unless there are some in Tangled.

Considering that they seemed to be on good enough terms for the current king and queen to visit for the new queens coronation? It'd be like not protecting one of your traditional* allies against invasion.
(*Think the USA and England. Or France.)
Imagine if England caused a nuclear winter. Do you think we'd support their defense if France and Russia invaded them?

Also, what about the trolls? That surely brings up the point that if the trolls get involved (which they likely will considering they live in arendelle.) what sort of havoc would the wreak? They can disguise themselves perfectly. They have magic that is apparently much more powerful than most magi's and, and this is most important, their magic is CONSISTENTLY powerful.
And what do they do with it? They...heal Anna. The first time. Also, they make images in the air. And alter memories, slowly, a little, if they're close enough. Effective.
And there's only one who uses magic. And don't say that others can, too, but don't--no one else can check up on Anna until Pabbie shows up.

((No clue what you're talking about with the trolls. How relevant were they to the region, and how much do we know of their capabilities from firsthand accounts?
A fairly small band of trolls (about a foot or two tall and capable of disguising themselves as suspiciously spherical boulders) is seen a couple of times in the movie. The first time, the old King and Queen of Arendell bring Elsa and Anna to them after--"spoiler"--Elsa blasts Anna in the head with her icy magic. The eldest troll, named Pabbie or something like that, heals Anna, changes her memory of Elsa using magic to be just playing in the snow, and warns the King and Queen that "fear will be [Elsa's] worst enemy". The second time, Pabbie tells Anna that he can't help her. And, aside from choreography, no other troll shows magical ability.
And there's no mention of any other trolls. That particular band seems to be fairly far from the capital, and the royal family seems to have some kind of book about various magical creatures, so they definitely aren't common. Some are magical, but their magic is minor. And they don't exactly seem the warlike type. Maybe they can try to scare them off by singing Fixer-Upper.
Any other questions?

Roll To Dodge / GreatWyrmGold changes the title of his turn!
« on: April 03, 2014, 10:43:52 am »
Build the Equivalent Exchange Machine from Art of Minimalism III
[5]
Machine built.

GAIN DAKKA METER
GWG shouldn't Zanketzkuken get an NPC turn since he's an AI character now?
Zanzetkuken already had a turn that turn. No one gets two actions per turn, not even NPCs.
[2] You don't need a dakka meter. You always know you don't have enough.

Aim my gun at Birdy, then shoot in the air. As he laughs how I "missed", have the shot down zeppelin fall on his liver.
[1] You aim your gun at Birdy, then straight up in the air. He laughs. You missed the zeppelin. As you take more careful aim, the bullet comes back down and hits you in the head. I think this is an excellent example of a Texas sharpshooter.

SUMMON BILLY MAYS. HAVE HIM SELL EVERYONE THE SWEET PAIN OF DEATH
[6] Billy Mays summoned. He tries to sell you Oxi-Clean. He cleans the whole universe!
Chaos reduced.

Turn anti-Terror Star into Terror Star. Shoot black hole with Terror Star. THE BLACK HOLE HAS NOW EXPLODED AND REVERSED THE IMPLODING OF THE UNIVERSE

Also I try not to be a star

[1]
DAMMIT EOTYRANNUS STOP HELPING.
+1 Imploding.

Take over GreatWyrmGold's mind.
GWG shouldn't Zanketzkuken get an NPC turn since he's an AI character now?
I've become a computer not an NPC.
Nope. You're AI-controlled, aka an NPC. Check your stats more carefully.
[5] DAMMIT.

TURN ON HOLD MIND CONTROLLED.

...Actually...Zan's dead, so...I don't need to run his action! That means I can run everyone else's!

INCARNATE SELF AS GWG REPLICA WITH ASSOCIATED METERS: GWG EDITION
[2] You buy a GWG costume. It fools no one.

Birdy is not in the mood for laughing. Cry and call Veterans to save me from my liver wounds, or lack there of.
[3] An old soldier guy comes to try and heal you. [2] He fails.

I get over feeling sad by drinking some booze then flamethrower the sick guy. Burn out the plague
[2] You drink some alcohol and discover that it's not good for hounds, killer, hell, or otherwise, to drink alcohol.

Become ghost. Possess either Elsa or if that fails, the knife elemental as my new body.
One. Action. Per. Turn.
[3] You are a pale reflection of what you once were.

Destroy the enemies of GWG by leading an army of fleas.
[3] They do exactly as well as you might expect.

Save Elsa by killing those that attack her while continueing to assist Allies of GWG
...That's vague. I'll let you know if anyone does that.

GET RED ARMY THROUGH PORTAL
A red army officer walks out of the corner he'd been hanging out in, shrugs, and leaves.
[2] You wish Remuthra was right.

Turn anti-Terror Star into Terror Star. Shoot black hole with Terror Star. THE BLACK HOLE HAS NOW EXPLODED AND REVERSED THE IMPLODING OF THE UNIVERSE
Also I try not to be a star

Shield this attack by absorbing the Terror Star before it can do any harm!
[3]
Good job! Retroactively...um...reducing Chaos, I guess?

Turn anti-Terror Star into Terror Star. Shoot black hole with Terror Star. THE BLACK HOLE HAS NOW EXPLODED AND REVERSED THE IMPLODING OF THE UNIVERSE
Also I try not to be a star

Shield this attack by absorbing the Terror Star before it can do any harm!
COUNTER WITH TYRANNOSAUR
One.
Action.
Per.
Turn.

Sic the royal hounds upon TalonisWolf's pancreas.

Fuck yeah kept the timeout corner
[5] Ow. Pancreas at critical levels!

Replace Birdy's liver and then shoot it.
One action per turn. Also, Birdy has extra livers.
[1] You shoot your own liver. Ow!

Wow, almost 20 pages since I last posted. Well time to come back and wonder what happened.

Take a sample of GWG's DNA for !!SCIENCE!!
[6] You do so. Turns out, cloned dragons do not make nice pets.

Remind the GM that killing everyone means that GWG, Taloniswolf, and Birdy are all dead and thus not in the game anymore.
No one died.
Because reasons.

Roll to survive the atomic potatosplosion.
What, you expected to be able to roll to dodge? What kind of game is this?
...
Right.
[1] Damn. The random.org hates you.

FLEE TO RECOVER!
[1] You flee! Ow ow pancreas!
You have destroyed your pancreas. The pancreas is a vital organ. If you lack a vital organ, you will eventually die. Therefore, you are dead.
New Victim: [1/11] Arcvasti!

SHOOT EVERYBODY EXCEPT MY CHARACTER IN THE EVERYTHING.
[4] You shoot people! It hurts people!

Reduce the Chaos Meter.
[4] Chaos Meter reduced.
I'd appreciate if you explained how next time. Even if it's silly.

Spread a virus that gives entities meters.
[2] This is harder than it looks...

And make a roll to genocide all the meters.
One action per turn!

NPCs:

Quote from: Clone Troopers
Shoot the black hole!
[4-1][1-1]
Goddammit. -1 Implosion, +1 Implosion. You guys suck, and since you're NPCs I can say that.

Quote from: Elsa
Attempt to reverse the freezing of the universe.
[6] Done. Now it's suffering heat death.
Precision is not your strong suit.

Quote from: GreatWyrmGold
Reduce Implosion meter by moving planets around.
[2] Damn. Stupid laws of physics.

Quote from: Jormugandr
Eat the black hole and take its power!
[1] The black hole eats you. What did you think would happen?

Quote from: Knife Elemental
Kill, um...Spinal_Taper!
[1v1]
Wow. Somehow, you end up with all your parts in each others' parts. It's like sadomachoist porn, but more awkward and less sexy.

Quote from: Zanzetkuken the Great
Take control of all computers.
[1]
You destroy all computers. +1 Chaos.

Overall Turn:
Chaotic
Implosion-Neutral

Spoiler: Universal Stats (click to show/hide)

Characters:
Spoiler: Allies of GWG (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Buds of Birdy (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Hostile Things (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Victims (click to show/hide)

Alright. That looks good.
If I made a mistake, point to proof that the mistake was made and I'll give you a +1 to your next action.
[/quote]

We do know that her visible form isn't her true form.
Citation?

As for humanoid ghostships, you could probably fit five brains in a robotic body.
That's nowhere near Ghostship-level brainage.

Wait, did steve fill the ship with the gas that causes philosophical debates again?
It seems like part of the standard life-support stuff at times...

((Dang it, PW broke the nice syvarris/GWG/syvarris/GWG chain!  >:(

Seriously though, if this is annoying other people I'm fine with stopping or spoilering it.))
It's annoying me. Seriously, do all philosophical debates eventually turn into tight circles?
...Also, I'm losing track of what the arguments you were countering were about.

@GWG: by your definition, does Thor, the God of Thunder, or the Ghost of Christmas Future (both composed of at least one part) exist, will exist or have existed in the physical sense?
Thor certainly exists. You can buy it at your local comic book store.
:P
Seriously, though...um...I cannot rememeber what this was referring to either.
...
Crap.

P.S. This is another advantage of the quoting method I use.

I've decided to experiment with the asteroids, despite having never successfully made a rendezvous with anything lacking gravitational pull. Including kerbonauts on EVA who let go of the ladder in freefall.

So. New game, to get asteroids. Lots keep popping up. Here's the first, and not a bad one.

More keep popping up; I have my eye on one JAL-968, which comes within forty megameters. HSJ-227 is the first encounter, though, and I'll see what I can do with that.

1. Design a craft for rendezvous and moving of an asteroid.

One thing I noticed what that everyone was complaining about how they couldn't turn asteroids easily. The solution?

That's a reaction wheel, with a probe body, some RTGs, and a hook attached. It is intended to be gently tossed at an asteroid (via stack separator or something) to help maneuver it. Presumably, all craft stuck on the same asteroid will be controlled as one...at least, I hope that's how it works, because if not some future plans with asteroids1 are going to be tricky.
P.S. I had to rebuild it, but I made subassemblies work!

Now with stack separator!

Alright. Maybe I didn't have to build it, but...eh.
I try to add a humorous, pretty description like the stock parts have, but I don't have enough room for the first sentence. I am sad.

The trick is to build a craft that can take a bunch of these (six sounds good) up to the asteroid, and also have enough Δv to move it.

That should do it! Probably.
I'm thinking maybe I should have put RCS on it, so it could maneuver itself into just the right position, but...eh, not really needed methinks. And mehopes.

I'll work on this more later, when I have time. For now...this will do, pig. This will do.

Footnotes:
1. Like space station cores.

Maybe the AM is secretly a humanoid ghostship?
...I can't really see it, to be blunt. Is it possible? Yes. It's also (approximately equally) possible that she's a god in human form, or an alien with advanced technology. Those all potentially allow reality-warping at insane levels...but none of them are terribly plausible. Yes, we know ghost ships exist, but would the UWM make one in humanoid form? Or one that would be willing to aid a rebellion? Or waste it overseeing the HMRC?

2625
Hugo, is that Jeb?
Could it be anyone else? :D
Yes.

I noticed that my asteroid weighs 800 tons, A real asteroid that big would weigh 45,000 tons, and since kerbin has 10 times the density of earth perhaps my roids should weigh half a million tonnes?
Probably for roughly the same reason why Kerbin is a fraction of the size of Earth but has several times the density.

Quote
I'm going to see what it takes to move one that big.. I recall XKCD determined i would need more fuel tanks than the rock itself.
I think that was Scott Manley, referring to de-orbiting Gilly and Minmus.

Rilder I just think its epic that the claw survived like that, I'm sure the Kerbals will make many movies commemorating Jeb's sacrifice, and the sheer awesome of the way the ship JUST stopped the asteroid from totally annihilating everything.
Shame that proper asteroid impacts don't do anything. An asteroid landing from extraKerbin orbit right on top of the VAB would just bounce off.
