We should at the very least re occupy Curbiston with a military force, since it's an important fortress and valuable strategic point, as both a resupply point and just because of how bloody well defended it will be. We need to also increase our levies to the absolute maximum we can at the time.
Concurrently we should do a full sweep of the county to check on the standings of all other settlements, and take stock of available soldiers, food, and any issues they may have with food. Then we tax food from places with a surplus of food and send it to the places that need it. We then take the soldiers and use them to wipe out the bandit hordes. After that we move onto dealing with the sea raiders.
Sounds like a plan.
Back home we should have the forges start to churn out materiel for war, armour and weapons, specifically. We should also get any other settlements with that capacity to do the same, we're going to need an army, and we may not be able to arm them otherwise.
We have bigger priorities at the moment. If this doesn't interfere with getting the farms up and such, +1.
We should go on a trip first to Curbiston to survey the damage ourselves, then move on down to the duchy seat to confer with the duke about our next steps, as well as whether some biological warfare is feasible. While there we must make sure to tell him we've re-occupied Curbiston with our forces, and plan to re-populate it ASAP. Further, we also say we're currently trying to get the basic facilities of the county up and running again, and will be doing a full sweep of the county to see what needs to be done to restore order.
Why would we use biological warfare?
Aside from that, pretty good.
No, we need to go straight to the Duke. Anything else will seem like us going rogue and trying to sieze power. The way it all stands now, the Duke will probably give us Curbiston anyway. Talk to him first.
And say what? "Yup, Curbiston is pretty much gone. Except for the buildings, most of those are still up."
