How about instead of the whole body being spongy only an outer layer is and that is used for respiration?

How would the O₂ get to the inside?

After several seconds, Grewie spoke.

Make the speech, prepare a spell. If and only if anyone attacks or otherwise acts hostile, cast a spell to kill as many of the guards in the room as possible and ideally the Chief himself without harming me too much.

Ugh, Selina's Mom's appearence is probably the least happy i've ever been about planning. In fact, there is one chain of events i have planned that if it happens, i might strangle myself. Selina's Mom is going to probably be another Break the Cutie moment. *sigh* Apoligising in advance for any hurt feelings when it comes time.
