Roll To Dodge / Re: The Islands of Misery: Ominous
« on: May 08, 2013, 04:47:57 pm »
Inner thoughts : "I don't know you but now I'm going to hurt you!"
Kyle looks for a weapon.
Hm. There's one attached to that one girl's chest, but it's attached to her chest. You might be able to strangle someone with those vines, but it looks like your weapon options are limited to fists in here.
You feel a bit...ominous.

Select Kyle because of his obvious lack of fashion sense.
You select Kyle. You see a sort of black aura envelop him for a sec, before he keeps being outlined in black. Useful.

Head west, hide behind boulder. Check properties of screwdriver.
You abandon your other loot to hide behind a boulder. [10+1] The screwdriver is absolutely, positively powerless.

Thoughts: "Oh, ah, oh gods, where am I? And... Eeek! This dosen't make any sense! I-I-I guess since I heave a weapon, it's going to be OK, but this is so cumbersome...
Attempt to wield spear any way possible. If I can comfortably grab it and swing it around usefully, stab it into the ground and attempt to figure out what it does. If it's too short to be of any use, try to activate it while it's in my hands, and use it as defense if I'm attacked.
"Uh, everyone is armed... don't hurt me? Please? I-I can be of help, I promise, I, just, uh... I'm not good with fighting, you know, and... I'm kinda afraid. Like, need-a-Scooby-Snack-or-seven afraid.
It's definitely useable. You can swing it around, and since it's attached to the chestplate thingy, you can't lose it. Stabbing opportunities are going to be limited, but that doesn't seem like it's going to be a problem, as it seems to be able to fire rocky chunks out of its end when swung.
[Billy: 8-1]
[Kyle: 6]
The chunk misses both other people in the room and shatters against a wall.
[10+2] You also note that you seem to have echolocation, presumably from the spearplate thingy. Excellent little sense, that.

Profiled who in the group might be a rapist then look for a way down the mountain.(Also consider possible chance of actually being a cyborg.)
Hm...there's that one guy who doesn't seem to be wearing much under his suspicious sweatshirt, and who wears a top hat? And what's with that one woman in fatigues, or that guy in the plastic shirt? You'd come up with ways for Kyle to be suspicious, but you aren't aware that they're here.

Walk inside, politely ask to borrow the vine-making thing from whoever has it, walk outside, zap it at the outer wall, walk back inside and return the vine-making thing.
"Hey, who has the vine-makey thing? Anyone? Hello?"

And looking over the character sheets....... what happened to the skill point limit ???
What do you mean?
I increased the number of points you could add to your Attributes to 50...did I forget to note that in the OP?

((In my endless mantra, turn coming soon.))
freeform for example:
Agi: 10
Clv: 16
Dex: 14
Lor: 12
Luk: 12
Per: 10
Str: 5
Tuf: 5

sum > 60
They all start at 3. Your calculations are understandably off.

McGuffin, its a device integral to the plot that can be used as both a unit of time, measurement of power, and a wide variety of other uses. Often associated with plot powers and so such.
I'm only familiar with it being used as:
McGuffin, its a device integral to the plot
Or, more specifically, something that someone is trying to get for some reason.

Work for Cthulhu. Suck up to him and get a promotion.
[4] You get hired. [6] You suck up to him enough to become his personal footstool. Literally. Sometimes it takes bites out of you when it forgets its lunch.

Become Space Battleship Yamato.
[4] You successfully upgrade yourself.

Convince a nuclear power to nuke the shack.
[4] You do. [4] You realize you should be running.

Respawn as GEORGE WASHINGTON.
[3] You are GEORGE MASON.

respawn as a little girl with a rocket launcher. do a dance with the rocket launcher.
[1] You are an old lady with a toothpick. [1] You try to dance but just kinda fall over.

Murder everyone with a nuke.
[3] You launch a nuke at the metal shack. It's a start.

Reclaim my job
[4] You start climbing the ranks again...

((Nails??!! How hard did you fall on them? Then again, this is the future. They may be monoatomic nails.))
Actually, the nails fell on him. And there were a lot of them. In crates.
And they were rusty.
I assume they were also on fire, irradiation, and had an appetite for blood.
No, they were just numerous.
A whole stack of nail crates fell on him, not just one.

30668
So a mcguffin's length of time.
A what?

30669
Just to point out, crystal weapons are a LOT more effective when you can make a new one every turn few minutes.

...How long is a turn supposed to be?

Form conspiracy of loyalists
[3] You find two people loyal to you and call it a Conspiracy.

Respawn. Aid random person's action.
You try to help...[d8:3] Nyarlothotep.

Respawn as Cthulhu's asshole manager.
'Sup Thulhu, breaks over man, you gotta get out of R'lyeh'
>Initiate poorly-planned workplace shift that screws Cthulhu over and ensures he'll have to stay overtime

[1] You're one of many secretaries of Cthulhu. Actimg like that gets you devoured. Respawn?

Nuke the metal shack.
You're an eldritch abomination, not a nuclear power! Still, someone's offered to help.
Oh, and you destroyed a weasel that was attacking you.

Get plan to attack hell.
[3] You create a plan.
"Siege. Strave them. Charge."
...
"Siege^for a while. Stra^rve them. Charge."
...
"Siege^for a while. Stra^rve them. Charge.
Get an army. Siege them for a while. Starv them. Bombard them."
Seems like a plan. Oh, wait.
"Siege^for a while. Stra^rve them. Charge.
Get an army. Siege them for a while. Starve them. Bombard them."

Respawn as eldritch cheesecake.
[5] Check.

Find way to turn into Space Battleship Yamato. Why? BECAUSE I CAN.
[4] Designs of the modifications needed created.

I need to make up for lost time!

Research better cheesecake warrior production methods.
Set the squire to work upgrading the factory.

[3] You might consider attaching a freezer so they don't melt.
[4-1] The squire moves the boxes around, slightly increasing efficiency.

come running out of the pod as a honey badger and MAUL ALL THE JUNKS.
[2] You as a weasel. [1v5] Mauling ShadowNyarlothotep in what you think his a junk doesn't end well. Respawn?

"Priest." It spoke in serendipity, so saying supposedly some succor unto it.
"That is me, the answer to the question." Priest spoke, it investigated its body carefully, trying to take ginger care of the wounds and bleeding. "Yes... Ndeitosael, a Priest of. We have a task of Ndeitosael, we must consecrate an altar so that he may rest with us, to tabernacle unto our presence. Blood is required, of yours and mine it must be present, matrimony of life's blood. Yet... I fear I will not have much else to give at the going rate." It spoke as well as it could in its present state. "A house of healing is required, but for the sake of one I shall move on. Come, we must go."
It raises itself up as well as it can, investigating its cloth raiment. Tattered, hardy cloth, the bottom half forming something of a parted robe with the rips, the sleeves similarly ripped to accommodate its dexterous limbs and the wings attached to them, just hanging straps as if for decoration. There was something in its pocket on the front, it could feel it. Confused moving. There was a twing in the back of its mind, as if it should be familiar, drawing feelings of kindness from the creature. "Hello little one, I see you in there. You are a friend--Is a friend." It echoed the last part in similar tone and pitch, as if its voice rewound and replayed yet said something else.
Feeling satisfied in its self analysis, Priest looked around to gather its bearings in its surroundings.[/spoiler]
”What? WHAT? What are you saying, Rick?”
You ignore Worm for now, and glance around. You’re at the edges of the forest and the town. There’s a big office building nearby, some apartments past that, and in the distance the rest of town.
[3-1] You feel an invisible, undetectable energy around you. This could help your endeavors. Touch someone and talk reassuringly to them. You feel a feathery feeling. If you wish, you can turn into a crow. Nice for rapid transport, concealment, maybe looking wise-- --or even subsisting off of worms, eh, High Priest?

Quote
[Surprised I lived through that, to be frank. Figured I should make the character a bit more entertaining to write for while I'm at it.]
(Neat, thanks. Although, frankly, the play of Worm v. Ndeitosael was pretty interesting all on its own.)

Get healed, then leave the hospital.
“I gotta get out of here!”
“We’ve bandged your head, but there’s still some...issues...”
“I’m fine! Lemme out!”
[4] You manage to stumble forward, before being stopped.
“At least take a wheelchair. You’re going to hurt yourself.”
Rubbing your arm, you consent and exit.
[3] No new mutations.

-----

YES. Wait until someone arrives with a gun, and teleport it into my hands. Shoot them, and anyone else who tries to attack me.
You lean against a wall, adjusting your clothing. A few police officers arrive. You snatch one’s gun and [2v2] graze his shoulder. He stops, causing a pileup in the entrance. [4v3-1] You hit an armed cop in the chest and [6] steal another’s gun as it’s firing, disorienting you for a moment. The one remaining, armed officer [1] shoots one of his comrades. The other one flees into the bank. [6v3] A bullet flies straight through the body of the armed police officer. Now what?
[4] You gain a new sense.

"Ah. Maybe I can blow the whistle on these mutation people? I'm pretty sure what they did wasn't legal. Failing that, I suppose prison might be preferable to the Ward. I don't like the Ward."

"Hey, wait, how can they convict me of turning somebody to stone? How do they know it was I who even did it? Also, I have absolutely no control over this ability, and I had just received it at the time I turned the guy to stone. It was kind of an accident."

Speak!
“Ah. Maybe I can blow the whistle on these mutation people? I'm pretty sure what they did wasn't legal. Failing that, I suppose prison might be preferable to the Ward. I don't like the Ward."
“Well, did you sign a contract?”
“Um...yeah...”
“Did you read the contract?”
“...”
“Walther...”
“I’m sorry.”
“Anyways, I’d suggest that you go to the Ward. Maybe they can get you to stop having these ‘episodes’...”
“No! I’d rather die!”
“You don’t mean that.”
“Yes I--”
“Let’s change the subject.”
“Hey, wait, how can they convict me of turning somebody to stone? How do they know it was I who even did it? Also, I have absolutely no control over this ability, and I had just received it at the time I turned the guy to stone. It was kind of an accident."
“Well, if you can prove that, it’ll help your defense. However, you’re also charged with assault, disturbance of the peace, petty larceny, trespassing, and--you said you’d showed up to your last court dates!”
“Um...”
[4] Your eye itches, so you scratch it. It pops out. You can still see through it, but your lawyer is distressed. She asks you to put your eye back in.

(My status insists that I am still caged)
Nice catch.

Quote
"I will have the house salad with thousand island dressing, please.  With a side of anger... wait, what?  I mean garlic bread."
"Hook me up with the double bacon cheeseburger combo, bro."
Logic ponders on the new thinking in his head.
Passion wonders why no one is looking at him any more.

Logic:  Analyze new way of thinking.
Passion:  Check self to try to determine nature of new inventions.  Teleport a coke into hand.

“Thank you. Would you like a drink?”
“Of course!”
“What would you like to drink?”
”Lemonade, please.” ”Root beer!”
The waitress leaves. Logic attempts the new technique, and detects...nothing in particular. Meanwhile, Passion [4-1] looks around. Hm...why is no one looking at him?
”Hey Logic, why aren’t any of these people  looking at me?”
”Perhaps because you’re an egomaniac, perhaps because you are imperceptible to the optical sense.”
”Hey! How dare you call me stupid!”
”...I was saying you were invisible.”
”I’ll have you know I--wait, what? Hey, awesome!”
[4+1,1;6+1,4] The drinks are brought. Logic notes an unusual adhesion between his hand and the glass, while Passion grows by about half. Passion curses. This seems to confuse some nearby flies, which causes Logic to deduce a possibility of them comprehending Passion’s vocalizations as he chides his now-large companion.

You feel like you should focus on something, so you focus on a rock. You have a vision of the area around the rock. Neat!

[3] Nothing.

buy more pretzels and a six pack to go then pay off my tab.
Wander off and try to find the nearest hospital.

You buy the pretzels, but the bar doesn't sell six-packs. "If we sell 'em beer to go, they don't stay, y'know?" Your tab and pretzels cost [6] nothing because you forget to pay.
You look for a hospital. [5] You find a free clinic.

Snapping out of his addled state temporarily, Mr. Normal considers his options. Thinking fast, he begins talking like an utterly non threatening and oblivious hiker.
If they don't buy it, he decides he must teleport away.
“Um, helluh! Ah’m jus’ a normal, harml’ss hiker...”
“Right...come with us, please.”
You try to teleport. [3] You pop over about 30 feet. “Get him!”
Oh dear.
