Roll To Dodge / Re: Roll to Brawl: Let's Get Started
« on: April 26, 2013, 07:30:17 pm »
((Yay, I've been nominated!))

Few questions: Have we all met yet? How much are we payed for winning a match? How much has changed in the world, like space travel and moral ethics? Can we do things to earn fame outside a match, like saving kitties from trees or celebrity stunts? Also, let's start now!
Yes; Depends on the match (you're just an amateur team for now); Wikipedia setting overview, but the main differences are the Matrix (a slightly different Internet), rampant cyberware, megacorporations, the balkanization of most major nations, a wide variety of dangerous and powerful magical phenomenom from dragons to wizards, and an expansion of the Seattle metropolitan area; yes, but it would probably require some kind of previous fame; sure.

-----

(Firstly, I'd like to note that simple pick-me-up games between teams with no real effect on the game are assumed to happen, even when we don't play them. Thus, pretty much only games with some plot significance will actually be played.)

There's a new gang in the Renton Barrens, calling themselves the Renton Ronin. They started out as half a dozen Asian razorboys and disaffected/fired corp types lead by this Japanese immigrant claiming to be an exiled samurai or something like that; the details vary depending on who you get the intel from. Anyways, in recent months the gang has gotten a lot of momentum for some reason. In any case, they're starting to edge into other gangs' territory, which is in part because the local people like their faux-bushido methodology better than the "anything-that-works" methodology of the other gangs. However, this is leading to the Ronin getting into a bit of an all-sides gang war, which the Ronin take seriously. It's getting a bit bloody; as good as their PR is, the Ronin are thorough. They've offered a deal: If they can be defeated in a Brawl, they will leave Seattle forever; BUT if they beat the team sent against them, they will stay and get bits of various other gangs' territory and such. They've assembled a team of their surviving Founders and some various other members that would be good at Brawling; the gangs selected you (in part because they figure the Ronin would go easier on Ansee, in part due to drawing your name out of a hat). If you accept the deal, you get 10,000 nuyen up-front and another 90,000 if you win. Oh, and they're also covering miscellaneous expenses like medical costs, ammo, and replacing dead team members. They're kind of hoping you win.
Shall you accept?

I've no problems with IOUs to be repaid later, merely problems with killing our men because we didn't requisition what we need in a grave situation. The faster we assault the keep, the sooner every townsman is safe. We can go through a range of exhortation approaches, but in the end, we let them know that cooperation is mandatory for the good of everyone involved.
Agreed.

Also, shoot first at the ambush. This is war. Uriel says that they're Owenists, and he kinda leads the military and knows these men. We also have the Guard Captain who would know whether they're staunch Owenists. I trust there are no objections to an ambush, if these sources confirm that they are unturnable. (Already did actually, but let's ask again.) They could be outsiders from Owen's home county, who have few other prospects if he loses the claim. Justice is not a persuasive argument to those with vested interest. Good men might die because we didn't want to get the drop on a pack of filthy Owenists.
You'd rather let good men die because you're afraid they're unconvertable Owenists?

I propose that we scale up the levels of red blood cells and hemoglobin instead. That way we can optimalize oxygen absorption.
"Optimalize"?
But other than that, sounds good if bigger is, actually, better. Making red blood cells bigger has issues, though. Those issues are called capillaries, which are often so slender red blood cells can barely squeeze through them.
Scale up the levels (as in, amount), not size.
That could work, yeah. There's a bit of diminishing returns, of course, but it's worth a shot.

Wrong thread, actually.

The IC thread is over there.
It would not make sense to post such jokes in the IC thread.
The New Order representative pulls out a piece of paper and draws some lines on it, then asks everyone to sign it as a Joke Non-Proliferation Agreement, upon threat of leaving the negotiations. No one can see or sign the paper because the representative is not attending in person.
The Sky Lords wouldn't sign it anyways. Well, they might, except they're controlled by me. And they'd think it was insane.

If you keep arguing I'm removing telekinesis from the list.
Argument is good. It means your suggestion game is popular...and there's nothing you can do to stop it.
When the arguments get mean or off-topic, by all means go ahead and try to stop it, but when it's basic debate like that?

Anyways, Post To Post When We Get Past The Dull Craziness. Also, I'd suggest some kind of Figurine of Wondrous Power (figurines of animals that turn into life-sized, animate versions of themselves).

"Aw great, we jus' had tha' wall fixed last month. Ah, I d'no wha' makes him tha' way."

31222
"Ayup. There's a bunch of useful weirdos around here."

CySi pops open his arm and starts fiddling with the Cyber-Computer.

KILL THE FORCES OF GRAMMAR
KICKSPIN CABBAGE ATTACK

[3] You kickspin-cabbage Webster, who promptly flees back to Heaven.

To GM: Are the Far Realms still under my control?

aid Shadowdragon's action.
Alright.

Charge Insanity with murder. I have witnesses everywhere.
[2] You are blocked by stupid paperwork!

Murder the rest of the town. NO WITNESSES!
[1] You decide that the first witness to murder should be the one who will see the rest of your murders, too! Respawn?

Kill Xantalos.
[6+1v6] Cue epic battle that gets almost nothing done!

Give it guns. Then build a space station. Also boats.
[6] You give it a huge number of guns, including ones replacing the engine! Sadly, you don't have enough bullets to put anything in orbit. [1] Or a boat. Anywhere in the world, since they were all cannibalized to make a huge impractical boat that sunk within seconds of being sent on its maiden voyage.

P.S. Any day now, the RtD Hall of Fame will be updated. Could someone PLEASE vote for the Art of Minimalism so it can get that last vote so it can get in the Hall. Remember, if it does, you get a turn of 100% success!

Look around for someone not on Team Aether to slay.

31225
Or maybe it's just not a word?

31226
"Hmph. Well, h'lo Ms. Gerdocki. Nice t'meetcha. I'm Simon Reinhardt, or CySi for short. S'pose we should get a bit of an intro goin'. I'm a sniper by trainin' and a bit more flexible as needed. I don't like talkin' that much. You?"

31227
WELL I SHALL JUST HAVE TO GROW HANDS ON MY TEETH, THEN, WON'T I???
Sig'd. So very, very sig'd.
Huzzah, my first siggedness!
Followed shortly by another sigging of the same quote.

((I've been planning this--on and on, mostly off--for weeks.))

"Where's the guy I'm supposed to punch? Oh, look, a little girl!"

Go hug the girl to incapacitate her with confusion, cooties, and/or a hug.

((If Defeat == Friendship, surely Friendship == Defeat?))
((Doesn't work like that. You've got to charm her first. Use your charisma, which is.... oh.
(Why do hugs need a Charisma check? Dexterity, sure, if the target is moving, but Charisma is for how they react to the hug.

Oh.)

Quote
No, but if you actually want to pull that off you should behave as you would with a dangerous animal. Keep your distance, no sudden movements, no rushing ahead. Just trying to hug her will just result in her doing what I would've done in her situation. ie: freak out, punch, punch again, jump backwards.))
(Well, I'll see how this works out.)

((I wonder what will happens if she gives different answers to everyone who is questioning her.))
((The players will all come up with crazy theories to explain it. Next question.))

Also, my character is supposed to be a banger, not a blaster.
My bad.

Do we vote/get a team leader/coach or does the collective decide our strategies and positions?
Do you want one? You can vote for one.

Should we wait for those last few players or just start?

We feel like faking a move?
(You probably meant that we felt faint.)

"Return" to sleep.
