Roll To Dodge / Turn 19
« on: April 13, 2013, 08:12:26 am »
Mr. Normal seems slightly nervous at the sound of police sirens outside. Must be unused to excitement. "Why are we the taking of so long for beginning? Is there being a problem, doctor?"
"Um.... no..."
Another guy walks up to the desk and asks about an upcoming test.
Just wait another turn, okay? You'll get your first mutations then!

-----

Get myself stabilized, so I can stop all this overmutation.
[3] You slow down your mutations.
[1-1] Successfully and completely so!

EVIL EYE!
Ah yes, one of those many derming-ready powers you've accumulated.
[3v6-2] They weren't looking at you; a security guard tripped as he ran in, ans you got distracted a bit by a shiny pot.
[4+1,5] You are blind! Maybe it's the pot, maybe it's the mutagen, who knows?

Regenerate while I wait for the test.
You do so. Soon, you are brought in and prepare to be tested...
[6,2,6] You don't regenerate right, however. A pair of large, flexible tentacles burst out of your robe, and your arms go all woody, with mapley leaves and chesty nuts sprouting from them. A scrawny kid glances over at you and asks, "Woah! Are you sure that this is safe? Or am I just having a relapse..."

"Well huh. Wonder what all this is then." Rick asks himself as he pokes the spine if physically possible. If not possible, he attempts, but after a minute of futile attempting gives up. "Ah well. Hm.... I think I saw somethin' once, 'bout how moss grows on trees were ta water was. Or was it the sun.... Ah well." Rick shrugs and attempts to see if the trees have any moss growing on a side of them, and if so heads off in that direction.
Your spine seems to be buried in your flesh. You can kinda feel it, though.
You locate some mossy trees. [6] Regardless of if your logic is true, you find a lake. With a whoop, you slip and slide into it. As you fall in, you vaguely remember something about how worms drown in rainstorms...
[4,3] This is not helped by you suddenly sprouting vermilion feathers! "Feathers! Have you been...seeing  another Totem?"

-----

Use my magnetic powers to unlock the door, and drive awaaaaaaay!
[3-1] It seems that the lock is either plastic, or surrounded by metal enough that you can't move one without moving the other.
[6] You feel odd. It seems that that density-control thing went awry; you are getting heavier and lighter randomly, and not uniformly. It's making athletics and acrobatics hard.

GTFO of there!
[4v5] A security guard tackles you.
[2] Oof!

SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD into a new mutation.
[2] No such luck.
[1] Even less such luck...wanna give up?

Look for any abandoned supplies in the abandoned campground. Preferably something I could live in. If unavailable, stroll off to look for supplies elsewhere.
[3] You find an old cooler (empty and broken), a pot, a few fire rings, some rotten firewood, a creek, three socks, a rusty little pocket knife...
[6] ...and that you feel woozy. You faint into the creek and feel better.

Last call for Test III! My original idea will have to wait for when there's only one or maybe two waitlisters, but I have one for now...

((Snarky, isn't she?))

"Ah. I see. Um...two, no, three questions. One: Why--did they all die about at once, or was it over several years? Two, how have you been living all alone? I mean, how well? Finally, is there...anything you need? Or want?"

31923
GWG, how about you abandon your mass customization petition and we just pass everyone's individual customization ones? there's really no reason to have constant changes going on to the worlds we're designing.
Firstly, it's as much the principal as the thing; why should someone need everyone else's OK before changing their world? Do I need to ask the city council before buying a couch?
Secondly, it will allow us to be quicker to respond when something goes wrong.
Thirdly, there are so many queued petitions and so few we vote on, that it takes a while to get ANYTHING done.
Fourthly, I'm starting to get a bit tired of "Petition to Do Anything: The 'Game'". I'd like to be able to do more than vote and submit a few petitions that will probably be voted on in a week or two.

As a suggestion from the GM, why don't you raise a motion to make moon customization petitions free?
In part because I have no idea what you're talking about.

-1*(-1)

For one thing, we're not leaving this unresolved, as Urist says. We have to stop our rival from becoming our liege lord. Nothing good comes of that. It may be acceptable to some that we should have a lord who "just wants to dishonor not kill us" but to me, even that circumstance is too untenable to patiently endure for years. If we have to go beyond the legal black and white and into the grey of power politics, then so be it. Come spring, it may well be us that marches on him with our claimant.
Define "the gray". "Nothing illegal" is a good idea--illegal actions can easily be taken as "proof" that we are treasonous filth who need to be removed from our position, and don't expect them to not be found. There's more than one Rat in the sewers, you know...

Quote
So, yeah, let's prepare for a siege, and hope that it doesn't happen. Let's prepare for a wide variety of possible options before Owen is firmly established as Count. Nothing is off the table yet. If we plan to get rid of him, now is the time. If we plan to spend decades having a Count that hates us and is not a drunk, then god have mercy on us.
Thank you for acting like a politician. You set forth a vision that I can't attack because it's too vague. Everything you say is good, but you haven't said anything.

Quote
Also, not sure I get the whole insistence on the "official" angle here. When is it ever possible to get official confirmation that you're about to be attacked? If you're deaf to whispers, then the next official announcement is usually rams battering the gates. And that's far too late to begin preparing wisely and judiciously.
How about when we hear it from someone we wouldn't need to deny? Maybe if we hear that Owen is building up his forces or something.
And you also need to keep in mind, the Rat is not ours. The Rat is not on our side. The Rat is on the Rat's side. That's in line with ours...for now. Who knows when that could change?

I'd suggest inviting them in. Get them seated and explain to Marna that we were trying to find a proper heir to the county; I'd imagine Marna is more than a bit perplexed by this. Read the letter, ask their names, etc.

Why do I constantly feel like the only sane man head here? :( And does even a single person see my custom font?!
Hey, I saw it!

And I try to be sane, too!

"I promise not to hurt anyone. Scout's honor." You then whistle and walk off.
[3-3] "Not so fast...whatever-you-are. You're under arrest."

easy decision, neck clasp. hand item and sword item are both probably melee combat items. the clasp will be something less boring and more awesome.
The sword, duh, but I can think of a wide variety of things a hand could be (hint: the inside would be a great place for buttons), and nothing for the neck clasp.

Besides, a steel fist would make us an okay crimefighter on its own. It's no Batarang, but at least it won't impale our hand when we use it.

Should we choose a word for the wand?

The Captain seems like someone with access to pretty good magic but doesn't seem to be a magician himself. How intriguing...

I've started writing the turn, but Person still needs to post his action, hopefully he does so soon.
Did you PM him?
If you have and he hasn't responded...check my sig.

31930
"Um...I see. What did they die of and is it contagious?"

((Xungus worm?))

31931
adwarf needs to post faster so that I can go ahead and not update for days
Check my sign? Make sure you PM him first, of course.

Nuclear punch!
[2v2] The punch half fails but the nuclear connects. [4] They're mostly unaffected.
[5+1,3,2] You grow some blunt antlers, and feel your blood flow funny. And your scabs start to crumble. Uh-oh...

[I count myself as a winner. And remember kids, winners don't do drugs, they do hardcore genetic manipulation.]
(GreatWyrmGold is not responsible for small children obeying this logic.)

Quote
Rick investigates the new changes, shrugging. "Well, seemin' you may be right about that. You know, worms ain't so bad. You ever see that thar movie... Uh.. Hm... Tremor? ...Probably not, come to think on it, but it had giant worms that everyone done feared. You'in may be small, but that don't count nothin' for heart." Rick tries to see if he can sense high concentrations of water in the air, vapor or evaporated water, or whatever, that may lead him to a source of water.
"Ooh. What's a movie?"
[2] You do not find any special water-detecting abilities. [4,6] You do, however, find that you grow a spine, which starts shaking.

Hey wait dude. You wanna get some of this mutagen? Because honestly killing you's kinda boring and I don't wanna do it anymore, so if you wanna go find some mutagen come with me, otherwise I'll just leave you alone. I gotta go ascend to my god's side or whatever I did.
Off to find more mutagen!
"Um..." [5] You get up, a little woozy, and enter the building again. "Hey, can I get some more mutagen?" [4] "Um, sure. We've got a test scheduled for just about 10 minutes from now. Care to join?"
[2] Mutations do not answer for you.

Same as before. Tell them I was in a verybad accident.
[6] You stumble onwards and into the hospital. Someone comes forward, offering to take you a clinic that specializes in cases like this. You get into the back of his van before you realize a couple reasons that this might be a bad idea.
[3] And that's it.

[6,6,2] You feel your organs shifting within you and your torso shifting without. You sprout a pair of arms from your armpits, and your old arms become huge wings, probably at least 15 feet across. Your posture shifts to an avian one, and your bones and flesh feel malleable. You also scent a musky odor.

-----

RAGE through the cage and smash some skulls.
[3-2] Ow!

"Alright then... You want to play that way? WE'LL PLAY THAT WAY! PIRATE POWERS, ACTIVATE! CONFUSING PUNCH, GO GO GO!"
Confusing punch everyone who keeps gosh darn grabbing me!
[6v5] "...CONFUSING PUNCH, GO GO GOOW!" You punch the people around them, sending them on an interesting trip. However, you also punch a wall, which turns out to be a bad idea.

Test lightbender capabilities by making pretty rainbows in the air and spelling someone else's name with them.
[2] You bend some colorful light. Pretty.

Break into a car and go for a joyride, zapping any sport balls I see along the way.
[2] You sprint to a large automobile and are stymied by the door lock.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE into a new mutation!
[5,6] The dice just hate you. Mercy reroll: [2] Okay...nothing. Que cosa, hombre.

-----

NPC Actions:
The people at the rest stop see a giant lady in a dirty sheet trying to open the door to a large SUV. There's a momentary pause, as if everyone is simultaneously wondering if they went crazy, then they all start running about--to their cars, to the buildings, to the pay phones, into walls (ouch), etc.

So far so good.

I think that petitions could be better organized by naming/numbering them in true bureaucratic fashion, and then having a silent vote over PM.
Silent votes seem like too much of a hassle.
Just trying to clear up clutter.
IMHO, the "clutter" is worth it.

All we can do is just shore up defense and prepare for a siege.
-1
Way too early. We don't have any reason to expect one soon, it's a fool's move to start a campaign in the winter (cold weather, no food in the fields to take to bolster supplies, and a freshly-stocked larder in the town), and we have no official reason to expect a siege, ever. Not to mention that most siege preparations would impede normal operations...
