Ban all nuclear-weapons based Civ puns from future posts.
Hah! They're jokes based on the causes of an early-version Civilization bug!
I know the joke. I have my fair share of world's poisoned by Ghandi's limitless greed and lust for power. His insatiable rage at the mere thought of an equal voice for all.
Why, oh why, must 1-2=10?
1-2=255, actually. Or maybe 15. It would be 15 if I programmed it.

Wait an arc or two, then come back because the writers didn't want to write up a new character. Get back to work on that super serum project, using research grants and my few minions.

"Thanks, Ms. Feyri!"

Give Ms. Feyri a hug and the copy of the picture.

Not aware of such apps or how much they would help.

The problem is the constant need to check or you'll miss it, not the inability to run other things at the same time.

Besides, those are hardly my most notable complaints about using IRC for this purpose.

Decide to make the yacht my base for now.

Search for supplies. Put everything in a safe room. Rest a bit, then swim to shore and make a raft/small boat. Head back to the yacht.

I suppose you have points on all except why you said we wanted a gate as near to enemy attacks as possible.
The gate would be near the attack because our needs and an attacker's needs are the same. We don't want people to have to walk around the whole settlement every time they want to go to the river. I would expect our civilian needs to be more of a factor than an attacker's needs to our long-term survival, so advocate having having a pleasant village rather than an impenetrable fortress.
I was asking about the phrasing, not the logic.

Quote
1. This isn't Gods of Large, we have more than a week.

2. One guy isn't going to do much regardless of a chokepoint. Even if we get enough to go all 300, we still need to deal with exhaustion and attrition, plus #3.

3. So wait. You need them to be both smarter and dumber than DF goblins for your logic to make sense? If they're considered a sentient race, they're smarter than animals, and animals are smart enough not to suicide like that.

4. Perhaps, but a major mungo invasion that soon is lethal no matter what we do.

4a. Isn't this just 2 again?
This is a game, I would not expect a fight with anything immeasurably powerful unless we incite it ourselves... I would expect one well-trained soldier backed up by a few folk with long spears and enough training not to stab our own people to be able to withstand anything that we have to fight, provided that they only need to defend in one direction, hence the choke-point. Otherwise folk are going to be too busy protecting themselves to support the soldier... But a guaranteed choke-point is not really possible with our current resources, we will want a way to close the gate(s) and need a wall that our folk can fight from with an advantage. A simple ditch with a mound behind it should give our folk an advantage and be pretty easy to build. A line of spears would be similarly advantageous, but would pose more of a risk of young goblins getting impaled while being reckless and probably require more maintenance. Neither option works without someone standing behind it with something pointy, such as a spear or shotgun-ballista, a proper rock wall five metres thick with murder-holes, ramparts, and arrow-slits would likely take too long to assemble...
I don't know how much of an effect a chokepoint would have on such a small force, though. A bit, perhaps, but not a lot.

Fear is useful, but actual stopping force is important too.

Agreed except asking them to lend us a ship.

Sooo are we or are we not gonna start army building yet?
Yes, it's definitely one of those.

Walls let us control the village, but I don't think an air force is the answer. Maybe an integrated approach like so:

1. Living walls that grow and heal quickly, perhaps a sponge/bamboo or coral/bamboo hybrid.
2. Enough tough infantrymen to deal with breaches, perhaps a hybrid of badger or wolverine with a beetle or turtle.
3. A large number of ranged attackers, because they're simply the best at hurting enemies before they hurt you. Ideally mobile. Perhaps modified bombardier beetles/skunks/spitting cobras/whatever, perhaps archers, perhaps something else. This should be our primary method of directly attacking the enemy.
4. Pests. Maybe a small, adaptable kind of bug that breeds fast, eats fast, and can go from antlike to spiderlike in a dozen generations (a month?). Perhaps with a give mind, both for coordination and control.
5. Air force. This should be small, but it can be deadly. Perhaps start with a bat or bird, then add size and either some kind of ranged attack or enough strength to drop big rocks in their heads. Probably the least important, as it has the most...issues.
6. Skirmishers, Cavalry, Scouts, and other such troops can probably be ignored, but planning is good.
7. Support. It's vital. Some kind of plant that makes a healing salve, a way to make walls to fix breeches or control the flow of enemies, trees that grow metal leaves, stuff like that.

Good Cairo, meh Slog, why did we pick such a non-word name that keeps getting autocorrected, arena fight, wait on the quest for now, maybe ask around, etc.

If so, I'd like to remind all you idiots that I TOLD you not to blather so much..."

The Trojan War's proximate cause was Helen. More at its root, it's because Athena, Aphrodite, and Hera were arguing over who was the most beautiful, and decided to have a mortal decide for them...ans then each bribed him.
Dont forget that Helen was the one offered by Aphrodite! It was a good deal too!
Even though it led to Troy's downfall!
You know what would have been better? Using power or knowledge to win/take her, because then you get power/knowledge and aren't stealing a woman!

GWG you have not been ignored, i merely hadn't time to answer. Some of us are living in different time zones. When you posted it was 3 am in the morning for me so give me a break there.
90% sure you responded after I initially brought that up. 10% chance I'll apologize.

Next, you didn't get in because i dont want even more gods. Pantheon has become a clusterfuck and as you hopefully noticed its drifting in game towards the end of times, since i want to bring this to an end before it dies off alone and forgotten in a lonely corner, so nope i didn't let you in because i dont like you or because i like to ignore yours and elfs wishes but because i want to bring it to an end. Besides Elf never explicitly stated whether he wants you to play or Aldemas to consume him.
Yes he did, and not killing =/= adding.

Guys, in the interest of keeping the banter up and to uncluttered the discussions slightly, I would suggest to all to join Freenode #PantheonB12.

Believe me, lot of stuff gets done faster that way.
IRC has some major disadvantages, like impermanence, lack of quotes (making it harder to tell who's talking), rapid-fire chatting (worse because of the above), the consequent lack of ability to view other stuff whilst doing so (bad for those of us with other games/things to do), the difficulty of using it from a tablet or phone, and the fact that very few people are there.

Come on guys!
Join on in! It's boring when only Me and Ardas are there...
Clearly, I'm not alone in this train of thought.

I dunno if she's really aware of the 4th Wall or not...
