I'm not planning to Westernize China, don't be ridiculous. Was the shipping industry stoverized when it incorporated steamships? No! Just take a few concepts, make them Chinese, and use them to make China all the greater.

Check how much our blood sword and/or hat would sell for.
Sure...if we can use money to increase our max HP/SP. We should definitely not sell it yet, though. Not until we know we can exploit the system make a safe living off of blood items.

You can never have too many trinkets. What if someone learns how to steal stuff? What if someone learns how to increase maximum happiness? What if you need to use that puzzle amulet you made a while back in some kind of magical ritual?

33634
Agree, then try to locate the exit. And keep clothes on.

Roll To Dodge / McGaha Branch--Turn 1
« on: March 10, 2013, 05:46:14 pm »
Round 1:
500 Georgians vs. 500 Tarheels (I looked it up, that's what they're called. It certainly rolls off the tongue better than North Carolinians.)

Georgians:
Jimmy Therin, in a moment of cartoonish anarchonism, tries to be vewwy vewwy kwiet--he's huntin' snipers. [2] He fails to be vewwy kwiet at all. Then he finds one and [4-1v5] fails to notice a Tarheel bullet ripping into his skull.
John McBaroon charges into the Tarheel lines! [1] He trips and severs his other hand! Ouch!
George Buckingham joins his fellow swordGeorgian in his charge, [2] with little more success. Seems that not too many North Carolinians brought their antiques. Then he gets hit by [3,4] an axe and a pitchfork, with the latter ripping off his sword hand!
Richard Hearsaym aims and fires his crossbow at the North Carolinians...[3v6] But he misses!

Tarheels:
Adam Bradley charges at the swordGeorgians and [5v4,3] in a moment of impressive axemanship, hits both McBaroon and Buckingham, giving both nasty gouges and disabling the latter's hand. [4v5] He then has an arm chopped off of him!
Jack Robson draws his carbine and [5] fires a shot right into some musketeer's noggin. [6v3] He then dodges a crossbow bolt, tripping over a tangle of weeds!
Jonathan Bradley, the axeman's brother, shoots at some Georgians! [1v6] This...ends badly. He manages to fire the ramrod...to someone else's gun! And it hits him.
NPNC, a Non-Player North Carolinian, who has a pitchfork, charges the swordsGeorgians! [6v4] He manages to rip off the one's hand, but stumbles over to one side, falling over.

South Carolinians:
Suddenly, a bunch more people holler and charge into the battle! They are all named Joe!
Joe Schmuck, with a sword some Chinaman said was a katana, charges at the Tarheel forces! [5v4] He chops an arm off of one of them!
Joe Bridger punches the ground! This gets his fists dirty!

499 Georgians vs. 500 Tarheels vs. 100 South Carolinians

Shoot the man who is drawing a knife on you, then leave the scene posthaste.

Minor bump: I'd like a semi-final decision. These things might not seem important, but they're pretty near irrevocable, and so I don't want to mess up...personally, I like the magma vomit/mouth entrance best; entering through the mouth just makes sense, and I'd like to make the eyes either fortifications or gem windows.

33639
You consider going outside before remembering the big, empty void below...perhaps you should reconsider?

((piecewise comes around to this thread every so often to roll for actions that happen, right? I'm just being a bit overly paranoid, right?))
((usually once a day, every day. occasionally 2x a day but not usually. wait between 3 and 16 hours from now, whatever that is in your timezone. that is his usual activity time.))
((Ah, good. Better paranoid than right...))

Those can be worked around.
All you have to do is conquer China!
Hmm... Yeah. Pretty much.
Though whether the iron trade is profitable enough to buy the mercenaries/ships needed to conquer China is a different story altogether.
China has iron, steel, silk, spices, manpower, and so forth, and so could buy a bigger army and navy.
Simple iron trade won't cut it.
Could Sweden team up with several other countries and together take China, then annexing a part of China?
Don't forget China's allies.

Yep.  China IRL thinks it needs no trade at this time and goes isolationist.  I'll let this slide for now, but you probably won't be trading much together because of this.  Something pretty good would have to be given for China to open it's borders.  Like free stuff.  Or threats.  Threats work really well once you've beaten the country into submission through warfare.
We'll just see what the Chinses people have to say about their emperor's pragmatic integration of certain Western elements...

First, you wander over to the guitar. You start to ponder how to grab it, when you discover the Hammerspace Inventory Device, or Hammer Inventory for short. It conveniently holds all sorts of items in a little grid, which some items (backpacks and sacks, say) can expand. You gleefully stuff your paint bucket and spoon into your Hammer Inventory and grab the guitar.
[28-5] For a first try at guitaring, that was awesome! Even better, you've discovered an attribute: Cleverness! You have a Cleverness of 1; who knows how you could improve it? Now to see if you get that skill boost... [6+1] Aw. Not nearly 15.

Well, that was fun.

Sweden

Sweden is at war with France and Spain.  Sweden has pretty much nothing wrong with it.
What about the poor soil, small population and relative lack of manufacturing capabilities? I might have left this game, but that doesn't mean I still can't complain about it, damn it!
Those can be worked around.
