Gods damn it.

*Busting through a window, a wooden clog hits Dr. Drake in the head.* Attached to the shoe, a note says: "DON'T BE DISSIN' HIM. I NEED NEW CHAIR TECHNOLOGY TO MAKE A NEW VERSION OF MUSICAL CHAIRS."
-Leto "LORD OF THE DANCE" Totum
*throws shoe back*

*Greendoor massages his temples and mutters under his breath*
"For the love of god let him die on this mission"
*pats him on the back*
"I understand, sir..."

Are you willing to bet our life on that?
We have now switched positions. You are now arguing my point from literally a couple days ago. Do you understand where I'm coming from now?
We haven't switched positions as far as I'm aware.

Well, words are generally more effective than a hydra's first mouth-drawing.
And they're more easily comprehensible.
Hey, that's like, your opinion, man. Also not technically his first mouth-drawing. ~20th or so.
Fun fact: Mouths are meant for eating, not for fine manipulation.

(Sorry for being gone the past couple days. Here's hoping a Neyravah didn't happen again...)

Anyways. Me and Scelly are [6] The Government.

You mentioned "fake" taverns in the last reply. Do you mean that the taverns you have now are one-dimensinal and "fake," or that there are some establishments masquerading as taverns?

34416
I'm a lot more respectful to authority figures when I remember who they are.

34417
I wouldn't be opposed to something like that.

34418
Book is better for an investment.
Medi kit:few/one use
Book: infinite +knowledge gain
This does bring up a good point.
The medkit allows us to get to normal somewhat faster.
The book allows us to get better.

This isn't about scruples, it's about holding everyone to the same standards. If Cyber's character thought Maxine deserved death, why hasn't he reacted to anyone else?

"...What did I just do?"

Head to the storage room. See if I can use magic to open the door. There is no way this could go wrong.

Just a question for everybody, how many of the original players (after Mutare) do you think are still going to be alive by the end of the game?
Zero.

Assuming Udil is that stupid to turn upon his benefactor.
He has before.

What.
So, EVEN though he went out preaching to people, looking for those willing to listen, which there must have been if he even existed, even though he was in a pantheon, he STILL got forgotten. Not only that, but that's ignoring the fact that it's unexplained how the Children forgot the pantheon? Or how the Crowblessed taught them agriculture so they'd probably decide "let's have some gratitude towards the guy who sent them" and worship Corvus as a minor pantheon god?
Aye. I'm starting to suspect a game of favorites is being played...let's just see how my next guy does. If s/he is as incompetent as Neyravah, we'll have our proof.

Hmmm, what about my acts on the wyrms and attempt to turn children of Az-Sho into impotents? Totally failed?
Aye. See above.

Oh, and my condolences to Firelordsky, who was killed for doing absolutely nothing wrong. - we need another overgod.
+1
If it wasn't too late and there was a chance in Hell that I could be elected, I'd ask if you guys wanted me to be the Overgod, seeing as he'd probably be like an anti-Mutare.
...Corvus should have become the overgod.

Or we could pull off fusion dance and end up as a Neyravah-esque god, only without random dwarf murder. :P
THOSE WERE ACCIDENTS AND YOU KNOW IT.
Why does everyone pick on Neyravah? They were a loving god who didn't ask much of the mortals who believed in Them and who honestly tried to make better lives for them at Their expense. (It all works out if you pay attention to capitalization.) They were just incompetent and misunderstood mortals, and most of you guys are guilty of much worse.

Welp, one new, COMPETENT, overgod coming up
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
That good Ghaz, or did I need to edit something?
...Dear Gods, we're all doomed.

Or Avarian style!
What's wrong with Avarian's style?

I think GWG would like to replace VGray, as the dragon.
I've already said I would. This is kinda ludicrous, the amount of time I'm spending on a game I'm not even in anymore...

This is what happens when you attack switzerland......
And it's about freakin' time he lived up to the name.

Don't all the continents have humans and dwarves living on them?
Everyone just focuses on the ninth continent for some reason...
There was, but now only the Ninth Continent, the North, and Eversummer have them. (The Fourth Continent has some Shades, too.)
More on the Ninth's survival below.

Please, the other two were idiots. I'll certainly outlast both their reigns combined.
Evidence suggests otherwise. Avarian was far less idiotic than Mutare, but his reign was shorter.

That sounds ominous...

Who's on the chopping block this time?
Who isn't?

GRRR.Y U NO PICK ME?
[/joke]
Agreed.

I will siege the moon, you hear me? I'm buddies with the Spider and I can get to you via the ring! Your ass is grass!
See, it's things like this which make me feel justified in calling Udil an untrustworthy, deicidal fatherless guy. (Fatherless because HE KILLED THEM. Oh, great, that makes Neyravah sound like a pair of homosexuals. Geez, why can't anyone be respectful to Neyravah?)

Didn't we predict this? Udil picking on Corvus?
I did. I SO called it!
Udil didn't even wait for an excuse past, "Hey, Corvus has followers worth enslav--er, bringing to the light of Udil."
He can't even claim he's trying to unite dwarvenkind under one god, barring an extreme lack of anatomical knowledge.

-_-
Why would he do that?
Why does he do anything? He's a megalomaniacal, ungrateful, and selfish sonofafemalecanine.

Congratulations on the baby. ;)  If I were nearby I'd come and visit myself but unfortunately I'm quite busy. :(
If I existed, I'd come play with the baby. What I'd do to or for it varies on what I was, though.
And, of course, the child's...you know...level of crime against nature and such.

Oh, and as promised, my complaints about the state of life on the 9th Continent:
What the heck? The dwarves go on a rampage on their land's environment. I have explained a variety of ecological consequences for this and the reasons why, not to mention historical precedent. Not only that, but others have added to this, explaining why killing all the large animals or letting all the trees burn is bad for the dwarves, not to mention the obvious. And yet, what comes from the dwarves' ecological damage to their environments?
Absolutely.
Freaking.
Nothing.
Ghaz: Explain that, please.

Conversely, no matter the quality of those things, no one will move in without housing. Having people commission their own houses isn't only a bad idea from a planning perspective--it's impossible for all but the wealthiest of individuals.
Oh, and we're also proposing good housing. Despite what you are implying you believe, people care about good housing.
Housing is easy enough for hard-working burghers to build themselves.
Counter-evidence: Even with a subsidy, good houses are out of reach for most peasants.

I really don't want to talk about this, or snide mentions of the failed economic policy known as Keynesianism, or anything else savoring of modern politics.
Fair enough, but the Keynesian economics was just an amusing parallel. And it hasn't failed significantly worse than any other single policy followed to its "logical" conclusion.

The thing is, we can go through most of the year with an empty treasury. That may change, but for now I prefer an empty treasury and things rolling in as opposed to rolling in gold and things staying empty.
Agreed.

If part of our discussion offends you you are free to ignore it, no one is forcing you to participate in that part of the debate, but don't try to stop others from discussing a possibility they think is valid.
When a story about a medieval country is in danger of slipping into modern themes, we have a right to be a little concerned. Creating a proletarian utopia would be a real immersion-breaker for me in this time setting.
That's your opinion; you're allowed to it and I won't try to change it.

Helping the lower classes a little, yes, but we're in danger of going too far. Much too far. And there are a number of predictable unintended consequences to giving people free housing.
Free? Who said it would be free?
You know what happens when you assume something, right?

Hi :)
Ummm... Is it too late to join ??
Suggestion game, go nuts.

I agree, we're focusing too much on military.

Oh, and on medieval city planning: A major reason for sprawling, unplanned cities is a lack of centralized planning over the period of growth. Whether due to having multiple, weak, or no planners, some cities just can't get designed. We aren't in that circumstance; Sir Stone is (as the lord of this land) a strong central authority if he chooses to be, and the only probable reason for him to not be overseeing at least the general design of the city is if he's dead. Thus, designing at least the general form of expansion isn't impossible. (It also helps that we're not exactly planning to go from 168 people to 10,000 by the end of next year--slow growth is easier to plan.)

Being a hinderance and a communally destructive tool was what you were killed for. Jerking it in the library every turn, while annoying, serves some purpose at the very least.
Hey...that's a wee bit biased.
1. I did, in fact, contribute to the community before going on the library binge, and attempted to afterwards. By the time you killed me, I was ready to be a fully productive person...but now I'm an unproductive corpse. See who's destructive?
2. Aside from stealing the books (which I later tried to fix), when was I "destructive?"

If you were nearly as observant as you think you are, you might notice that current events have sort of forced the MIA of several people from the tower who, IC, aren't even aware you're dead yet and might care to deal with other slackers the same way. For the most part we're all just too busy to care at the moment.
Ah, yes, so busy that you don't care about these people doing almost exactly what I was...

Look, my problem isn't people not mourning over my death, it's people not batting an eye over doing a substantial part of what got me the death sentence with no trial.

Humans and elves view us as a horrible abomination and a blasphemy. I'd say that's a good analogy.
Unless they're 'scientific, pacifist vegetarian space people with Jesus-esque generosity.'
Are you willing to bet our life on that?

politeness
To expect politeness is folly! It's ours to give, but not expect- they just finished their battle, and right before they get to go in for warm ale and a tasty bed some hydra shows up. Euch. The last few were a doosy to deal with.
Now we jabber at him like a flock of 12-yr-olds, drawing pictures in the dirt & trying to hug him. We gotta get our shit together.
That or we really are taking turns and he really is patiently listening. I'll hope for the best and expect the worst.
Agreed. Also: Note the question marks.

"Oh, dear. Oh, dear. Oh, dear."

On the bright side, it's probably a safe bet that nothing big's happening for a while...

George scurried to his room to grab his computer, contemplating which gods seemed statistically most likely to exist, be capable of receiving his prayers, able to help, and willing to help an agnostic.
