Roll To Dodge / Re: YOU AT SEQUEL'S FINAL BOSS: The New Final Boss
« on: February 11, 2013, 11:31:39 pm »
I MUST update tonight! MUST! NOT! RUIN! PERFECT! RECORD!
Even if it ruins my REM sleep!
This is actually on time!

Become leader of heroes faction, gain faction bonus.
[6] You get a +3 bonus.

Butt into Dark Lords meeting
Point out that the Lich(ett(e(s))) are by canon not evil, thus the Dark Lords, being Evil and pround of it, must kill them.
Point out to the Liches that the Dark lords are evil and must be destroyed.

[4] They buy your story, then point out they already hated the Liches.

CONSUME COTTAGE
[5-1v2+1+2] Due to the Power of Friendship, as well as other useful powers, the Magical Girls fight off your attempts to eat them out of house and home.

Summon a loyal HatArmy.
Join new 'loyalist hats' faction.
Lead army to destroy the TraitorHats.

[4+2] You summon a thousand (okay, 923) Hatlings.

Save the SCP Foundation, by using the Spacetime rips
[2+3] You do! [5] Spacetime avoids any new holes.

Respawn as the sentient embodiment of everything that has and will occur in this thread.
[3] You respawn as the Sentient Embodiment of Last Turn. Ie, you embody everything that happened one turn in the past.

>Form and join Heroes splinter faction: Protectors of Reality
>Summon Commander Shepard to faction

[2] Shepard doesn't join accept your invitation.

Party hearty.
[4] Yeah!

BOSS TURN:
The number of factions has, thanks to da_nang's action, reached 11, which is so ridiculous it's not even funny. This summons Ursula, a universal sentinel with a gun like Tim's. He kicks Spinal_Taper out for being lazy and not actually defending anything.
The Dark Lords' resources are diverted to taking over the "rebel" Hatlings. [4+5v5] Which they do without significant casualties.
The liches, freed from their war with the Dark Lords for a turn, [5+5+4] summon 20 Arch-Liches, 29 Greater Liches, and 49 Liches.
The Murricans vote to invade the Magical Girls' cottage for autographs and such. [4+10-1v2+2] Due to their overwhelming numbers, they swarm inside!
Atlas is unhappy and [4+2] summons Zeus. Zeus promptly forces Atlas to hold the world.
Spacetime is still VERY screwed up. [6-1] It promptly fixes itself. Huh. Maybe what you needed to do was not try to save it. Peculiar...

Lesser. And yes I know it makes little difference, save for the part where I'm fairly certain these dungeon walls aren't dirt.
Oh. I didn't realize that was a needed difference.
...Carry on.

Oh, and germania: If possible, enjoy wherever you're being sent. If you live anywhere north of about Virginia, it's hard to get worse this time of year...let alone if you're a Midwesterner or something.

Turn 15
End of GWG's job.
That's a bad sign...
Oh. That wasn't so bad.

Lay low for half an hour or so. Inquire as to where the gas station group is convening. Join them.

"Yes, yes, found and returned. I was going to copy them so we could have two copies of those useful books, but then I discovered we lacked any kind of parchment! We have everything else, though. That's why I asked for parchment."

Clair glare at the spider "Would you please die for me?"

PM spell. At spider, crushing intent.
[14+3,16-1] From Clair's wand bursts a mist of strange silvery stuff. It coalesces into a number of tendrils with odd axelike blades on their ends. The tendrils descend on the spider, constricting and slashing it. [2d6=9;1d6=3] Between this and the aftereffects of your previous misty weapons, the spider is firmly dead.
Within the magic circle come three bags filled with goop and a hand-and-a-half sword. [17+3-5] You recognize the bags as tanglefoot bags, a fictional alchemal item which entangles people with goop.

We both attack, me with my ineffective dirk.
[4;4-2] Not only is the dirk ineffective, Sasha's talons are as well! Both the Archmage and his familiar miss.

Name the spell "Berserker's Blessing". And loot Mues wand.
Jane writes the spell "Berserker's Blessing" in her spellbook.
(Which reminds me to write down this stuff.)
She then breaks her wand out of Meus's stony grasp, breaking a few fingers regretfully in the process.

What on Earth was that? I very well could have ended my life right there with this pitiful human wand.
Lick at my wounds, and point the wand at the wall while saying a word.
Laren contemplates how foolish its last spell was as it considers how to phrase its next one. [11-2] Nothing happens.

explore the southwest rooms, find an empty one and cycle through the runes on my wand to try and find what they do.
Vikus hurries south and west, coming into a huge room--over 100 feet to a side, with a ceiling at least 40 if not closer to 60 feet high. Oh my.
[13+1-5] The runes clearly mean something. φ, Θ, ⌂, α, ╒, and ô show up a lot in that ancient journal, but always as something you're supposed to "get" already. φ and Θ seem to be used similarly. [15+1-2] You remember that some of the notes call for rotating the wand's band partway through the incantation, but you can't remember why.

Write down the words.
Examine wand, to see the runes, then close eyes and choose one at random.
(Care to name the spell?)
Dimi scrawls the spell in his spellbook. He then glances at his wand. φ, Θ, ⌂, α, ╒, and ô...Such a nice set of runes. As he turns the band, it ends up on the ╒.

-----

The five mages and Laren experiment and recall.
Meanwhile, the centipede resteth not.
[6+1v3-2] The archmage stumbles into the massive arthropod's strike, [2d10+2:10;15-2] nearly lopping off an arm. [6-2,1d4:4] He is nearly paralyzed, [10-8,1d3:2] and has only a couple turns left to live in any case.

-----

In that case Can I join on waitlist A?  And if so would the Necronomicon be considered a valid major item?
Yes, if you post a character sheet; and not if you want the original.
Relax.

You actually already posted an action.
Three tabs in Chrome again?
(Funnily enough, I have half a dozen open in this window right now, and can operate with...a score, at least. I've managed past the point that the tabs can't hold the page icons anymore, although I don't like to...)
(Die faster! I gotta get back in! Hopefully with another Life Wand)
Yeah, most of the bonuses in that direction are from actions. Keep up the 20's and 1's.

Anyways, the biggest issue I have with my system at this point is that there's no way to heal HP or other damage without magic. Since (AFAIK) you don't have enough of an idea of how magic works to benefit much from my hints in that direction, we need mundane healing. Obviously, bleeding out should be stoppable, but what Attributes would help? What would be a reasonable requirement to actually heal HP damage?

Oh, and pool your knowledge in experimentation and such. It was the only way to do much in Perplexicon, it's even more so here.

Hmmm... Well we have lots of lumber... Let's improve the barracks and armory. After that build up the obstacle course if we have time, giving it a mud pit and long sand pit. Also let's put someone in charge of the vineyard and build a few casks (not begin a batch until we have some fresh grapes of course).

Let's improve our home only after we have the mine up and running so we can build it out of stone. Let's then try and furnish it with trades from other lands (rugs, tapestries, incense, statuettes, vases, as well as the massive stag skull, and buy some furs off of our trappers to line the floors and walls where we don't have something.) Also, this is just personal preference. If we get a big free standing rock of marble or obsidian or glass let's have it be a centerpiece in our foyer, the flooring built around it.
+1 to all of that, but I think that apart from the foundation and cellar(s) our house should be made of timbers.  Just 'cause it looks nice, and we can have the beams carved with designs and we can paint it neat colours and some such.
We can carve and paint stone as well. Besides, it seems to make sense to have the heavier, stronger material supporting the lighter, weaker material than the other way around...
That's what I said, we use the stone for the foundation/cellar and the timber for the rest.
I read that backwards.

I don't care a lot; timber is likely easier to work with on the upper floors, and makes us less distanced, but stone is sturdier, doesn't rot, improves our image, and (IMHO) looks better.

And does anyone actually have Knowledge (planes)?
Yes, I do.  Knowledge everything (Draconic Knowledge).
...
Next time, please use it on everything. This place is a wannabe-ToH.
I've been trying on everything that looked unusual.  Plus, kind of focused on the chest after we set off the trap.  Didn't think we got to the other ones yet.  If you see something that we need a knowledge check on, or think we should try, give me a nudge.
Aye aye.

"Yes."

35607
This still open to players?
If so, what's the difference between waitlist A and B, since I am not quite understanding what the difference is.
It's very much open.
Waitlist A is for PC's. Actual human mages.
Waitlist B is for all the crazy stuff people summon that happens to be sentient and free-willed.

Angle, Remuthra, scapheap, Tsuchigumo, Unholy_Pariah, Wwolin...wait, that is everyone. Update incoming! (Oops.)

Have a goblin try one of the berries to see if it is edible. Just *one*.
We could probably have one of our assigned scouts go and investigate could we not? If that would be a hassle, then one of the woodcutters i suppose.
Those are scouts? I thought they were guards.
...Yeah, send a scout.

(RPG convention #1: ALWAYS ask the bartender for information)
Convention #2: Never trust anyone. Not even your own party members.
ESPECIALLY your own party members.

Sorry, I work long hours and can't access the forums.  Don't worry, I'll post when I can, which should be everyday (unless I get called out of town, which is unlikely but possible).  My schedule is also extremely irregular.
Sorry to hear that.
