Did it just say "resuce princess from dragon"?
No.

Greet dragon. Ask how his day was and why he took the princess.

Edit: I nearly broke my mind trying to understand why the two sides have a different number of pieces and then realized that the image is cut-off.
What are you...Oh, for the love of--it took me like 15 minutes of cropping to get that, and now it's ruined!

Quote
Also, do pieces ordinarily captured remain under the control of the one who captured them?
No, they're under the control of the ally of that player. I'll go add that. That was already there. Huh.

Quote
Also also, it's spelled 'sorcerer'.
Often, I spelled it like that. Where's the tyop?

Quote
Also x3, can we please have a more... sane tile numbering, specifically in the format 'board number-column-row' (swapped order to conform to standard chess marking) instead of 'colour (so we don't have to remember which colour correponds to which board) -row counting from the first row of this colour-column'? I.e. instead of 'GA2' it would be '1A9'.
I based that on a chess board numbering I saw once, but yeah I guess that makes more sense.

Quote
Also x4, does the Wizard transform pieces into the same colour as the wizard or the same colour as it was initially?
Initially. That is vague, isn't it?

Roll To Dodge / Finimicon: A Magical Arena: Turn 0
« on: February 09, 2013, 01:27:48 pm »
Random.Org suggests I let 8 people in. So, that's everyone.

-----

Eight people arrive in the arena. They show up in Room 3, a 15x15-foot room hewn from solid sandstone. The floor is covered with granite flagstone; the western wall has a large map of the arena carved in it. Off to the other side, as well as on both sides of the map, are shelves stocked with provisions of all kinds, from food to ammunition. There are two doors in the room, one going north and one south.

Post your actions! If you're wondering what your magical item does, check the appropriate spoiler in the OP.

The starting position for each board of Six-Person Chess

This is a variant of chess, played by six people in two teams on three boards.
Capturing pieces goes beyond weakening your enemies, and also strengthens your friends.
There are several new pieces added--the Dragon, the Fool, the Guard, the Scout, the Sorceror, the Summoner, the Teleporter, and the Wizard. These have special abilities which should complicate things. In a good way.

Thanks to Dr. Sheldon Cooper for inspiring me, and to Nerjin for sharing the not-secret of his spreadsheet display.

Most of the rules are like normal chess. However, the multiple boards adds some fun complications, and of course the new pieces need rules.
Changes:
1. The colors are not white and black. The three primary colors are pitted against the three secondary colors, as suggested by the neat six-colored dividing lines of kings.
2. Turn order goes Green, Red, Purple, Yellow, Orange, Blue.
3. The board is expanded to 10 squares by ten squares by three boards. The starting position on each board is shown at the top, with the following symbolclature:
Spoiler: What the Symbols Mean: (click to show/hide)
4. Captured pieces do not disappear; they instead go to a different board. Pieces from the GR board go to the PY board; pieves from the PY board go to the OB board; and pieces from the OB board go to the GR board. The exception is pieces captured by the Fool or the Sorcerer. Captured pieces are under the control of the capturer's ally and appear as close to the starting position for that piece as can be managed; e.g. a Yellow bishop would become a Blue bishop at BA4 or BA7.
5. Eight new pieces have been added:
Spoiler: New Pieces (click to show/hide)
6. Scouts and Pawns may not be promoted to Kings, Pawns, Scouts, Sorcerers, Summoners, Teleporters, or Wizards.
7. The game is not won on a given board until the king is captured. Play goes on in that board after it has been won.
8. A team wins the game if it wins two of the three boards.

Signing up:
Six people may join. Select the color you'd most like to be.

Turns:
Post the piece you're moving and the space it's moving to. If needed, you must specify which of a given piece you mean. For example, from the starting position, Green could post "Dragon to GD2," or "GA2 Dragon to GD2."

For my convenience and eventually yours: The Board

All enemies need to make Will saves.

The family is big enough that they could send members after you until you die of old she and there still wouldn't be a dent in their numbers.
But, one at a time.
Yep. Contract and all that.
And each time, you will be a brand-new guy, against someone who I believe is the only of the survivors of The First Group.
Eventuality is on our side.
Each time I kill you, I get stronger. So...not so much.
Eventually.
Maybe. We'll see.

Because karma is a bitch. Stop being a jackass and maybe you flubbing rolls wont fuck the rest of us

I made an RP post saying I will fucking murder you if you don't unfuck the library - You've managed to accomplish finding the books you lost, but continue to fuck the rest of us. When i get bored doing things that aren't 'sit on my ass and do nothing' like you've been doing - I'm going to murder you if no one else does first.
I did not mean to burn the library, and if you guys let me back in I'll fix the burning!
And I didn't return the books yet because the GM said I didn't.

Seriously, is it so bad to want a little more power before I do dangerous things? (I'll gladly admit that screwing up the library is a bad thing.)

How would the heatsinks work?
(In physics terms, I mean.)
Would they concentrate waste heat in some sort of coolant and eject it, or would they radiate it, or what?

I've been really wondering some of the points that you make Golden: Why the physiology is so quintessential to the specie's development over millennium, or centuries- it's not like wolves were always going to become dogs, or even, Catholics becoming Protestants.

When it comes to goblins, if they become berry farmers, given their low empathy stat, I wouldn't go out, and say they'd be particularly nice about it, they'd probably use kidnapped children to pick the damn vineyards, and become the classical fae.. of vineyards?
That's taking it a bit too far in the planet of hats direction, but yes; goblins should be able to be berry farmers, and they should take it differently than nongoblins.
Although you do bring up a point: How much of the goblins' mental stats is intended to be a result of culture and how much is genetic? How "reformed" would a goblin raised from birth in a human city be, how cruel a human in a goblin tower?

Good then Cacame is a red herring and can thusly be ignored as not having enough elven psychology to hold up.
...Huh?
He was raised an elf before being captured by dwarves. Regardless, he has elven DNA as well.

Quote
Since a Goblin, who is VASTLY different to a Dwarf, would act the same way.
How are goblins "vastly" different from dwarves, and also "Huh"?

Quote
So there... Cacame is completely irrelevant and unimportant even in context.
How so? It shows the importance of culture and proves that many aspects of elven psychology are pure culture.

Quote
It is something that needs to improve and not something Cacame needs to pull the game down.
"Pull the Game Down"? Are you sure we're talking about the same stuff here?
How does Cacame Apebalded, one of the greatest tales in DF history and certainly the greatest elf, "pull" Dwarf Fortress "down"?

So we're going to try and weaponise that which is anathema to us? This cannot possibly go wrong.
Void? I never suggested that, only pointed out that anti-manarack already exists.
Entropy? We're one Destruction Domain away from it.

You know, I find myself wondering if there's a Manarack counterpart resistant to magic.

GM?
The Void stuff was implied to be anti-manarack.
