Breath weapons, not being weapons, bypass DR. I suggest we bombard the kyton with them. Ideally without harming party members.

You figure out in addition to being summoned, it also just got stoneskin, haste, and a spell that grants spell resistance cast onto it
I really hope we're getting more XP from this guy.

DR does not stack. Yay.
Unless the source specifically states otherwise. A few do, but neither is a kython or stoneskin.

IT'S LIME. NO...PISTACHIO. NO. WASABI? YEAH, WASABI. JUMP IN AFTER BLAD MAID, BRANDISHING A MEDKIT AND MY HAMMERSPACE BAG. PATCH UP GWG ON THE WAY DOWN. AVOID PUSHING BLADE MAID INTO THE WASABI GOO.
If I notice this despite the indigestion, thank Greenstar. Try not to incinerate him.

Wander away.
[4] Why did I roll for that?

How do you not know of DIABEETUS?!

Search for oatmeal! Desperately!
Where would you get--[5] You enter the pit and discover a room full of oatmeal! [6] Which floods out and crushes you. Respawn?

Respawn as Fancy Gentleman with bit taste of Mythos
[6] You are gibbering mad. How can we tell the difference?

Order Tavik toth to polish my shoes as I help Furtaka.
He does. You stand around a bit.

Respawn, morn the loss of the nyanfort, and open a portal to the Plane of Infinite Nyancats.
You mourn and chant. Nothing happens.

This should cost much more than a little time and some thread
Believe it or not, I wrote half my original post before I saw it was "through surgery" which I was like "What?"
...
You really should have gone back and fixed it.

Though I thought I made it clear that I was against the idea in terms that it doesn't make sense for the DF setting and not because of some quasi Dwarf Fortress philosophy of difficulty that people use as an excuse to exclude any fantastical element that DAARES even come close to clashing with what is already in the game.
Both are true enough.

That makes one of us
The Bronze collosus already has quick healing. Meaning that it smoothes out bumps, fixes cracks, and glues gashes.
It having regenerative ability that allows it to reattach limbs seems related.
I don't see the connection. One has to do with the BC's motive ability, in my Bronze Colossus Schema. Sure, according to my BCS if a BC could somehow melt the stump and the end of its arm, it might be able to attach it, but otherwise, not really.

we don't really know what creatures will even have regeneration
There are really two kinds of regeneration to care about. Fast and Slow regeneration.
...Yes, there are?

Driftwood should also wash up onshore occasionally.

So you that means that everything that is not enought realistic for you is a bullshit.
No, it means that bullshit is bullshit.

Quote
Yes toady made very realistic game. And also  he made it unrealistic with magic etc. There if evil fog that appears from nowhere, but there can't be evil fog from roting renmains of hundreds of killed creatures.
It comes from the Evil infused in the land. Not every corpse has the same Evil in it.

Quote
There is realistic geology that ends in the Hell with the demons down there.
That's what I term an "acceptable break from reality." There needs to be some unrealistic stuff there, to keep the demons in. (I also go with the theory that putting Hell
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
is an abstraction for interdimensional travel.)

Quote
May be the point is in 50/50 propotion of realism and realism?
No. Realism where possible, fantasy where not. Also, you used "realism" twice, which means that it would be 2/2 realism.

Quote
You've meationed the fantasy literature. As I remember, to place some weird evil stuff in graveyards, especially massive, huge gaveyards is the common stereotype for literature like this.
Yes, a cursed or otherwise special graveyard might have effects similar to evil biomes. No, a single dead rat rotting underground does not count.

You cant recycle thread from a worn item like that.  Worn thread has broken bast fibers, which arent strong. The best you could recycle worn threads into is rag paper, or compost.
Depending on the item in question, you might also be able to turn the worn-out item into another item--a worn-out shirt might be salvageable into a pair of pants, or a mitten missing its thumb into a sock. Naturally, these would be lower quality than the item normally would be.

DF Suggestions / Re: Wood burning skill and charcoal quality
« on: February 02, 2013, 10:42:48 pm »
1) actually, yes. Good quality charcoal is hard, and shiny, with no remaining woody smells.  Poor quality charcoals produce soots and dont burn nearly as cleanly as good quality charcoals.
Interesting. How does this translate into better forging conditions?

Quote
-snip-
I am pretty sure that never actually answered the point I'd brought up...

I think it's reasonable to have a skilled wood burner to produce more charcoal, but not higher quality charcoal. Quality in DF is reserved for finished goods, not raw materials, and I think this is a good system. Otherwise it would complicate the value calculation of finished goods, building, and other products, with little gain.
Agreed. Of course, we'd need ways to turn partial bars of charcoal into full bars, but it could work.

DF Suggestions / Re: Fortress mode Slavery
« on: February 02, 2013, 10:39:51 pm »
slaves are more expendable than dwarves.  tantrums=punishment/death/ etc.
There's ways around the "tantrums" thing, and fairly few jobs with high risk that you'd trust to slaves.
Just face it, dwarven society as it is in 34.11 doesn't really need slaves.

Oh, and slavery is a crime as bad as anything a dwarf can imagine. You haven't refuted that.

how would them not eating or drinking make it less realistic?  they already dont.  elves do eat, by the way.  goblins don't.
Goblins not eating never really comes up?

A job in the soul-boosting radiation tunnels? Perfect. Slow uplifting, in proportion to work done.
Manarack miners? Even better idea!

How long has it been since exolyx posted in this thread?
Around 4 days.
It shows.
The reason I ask is, another game I participated in died due to off-topic discussion growing too insane. I wondered if the same could be the case here.
