Keep the door barred. Continue studying.

If this fails, swipe some books and continue studying.
If it succeeds, slide some unused books to anyone who wants them.

Words.
Sentient means the ability to know suffering, or at least experience. You know suffering. I know suffering. Dogs know suffering, even rats. Simpler creatures(insects), and plants, maybe not so much.
Sapience is essentially having a mind(that can create, etc.), and it seems to me the Troglodytes have none more advanced than a wise dog's(though if tool useage can be proven, early man). By which I mean they're probably driven almost entirely by instinct.
Ah.
I meant sentience in the sense that a creature is intelligent in the "conventional" sense; if forced to define it, I'd say it's something like self-awareness. I thought sapience was more along the lines of possessing a language.

Quote
Sure, duller, or even mentally disabled humans operate on instinct far more, but they're capable of learning and even of choice. Look at the bottom of the post for what I have in mind.
You and I seem to have differing assumptions about troglodytes. I assume they are sentient beings, perhaps dull by nature and certainly uneducated but full of promise. You assume they are barely more intelligent that canines. Meaningful discussion will be...difficult if we can't get any proof one way or the other on this matter. Not that I won't try.

Quote
Dogs lack free will in the.. what? Are you implying both humans and gods lack free will(not that I disagree)?
I have no idea why I said that, I suspect mental tyop.

Quote
Nobody has the decency to turn the elves back, do they? The people in that universe are complicit with the evil. Perhaps the point where we're misunderstanding each other is thus: I do not see it as evil to, in committing genesis, enable a creature to love doing a particular act, provided it's not completely detrimental or used in a detrimental way. But breaking in an existing creature, with an existing mind, would be far darker. Which was why I suggested morphing them into completely different beings in the first place, to erase what they used to be. Hell, we might be able to make them.. I don't know what, but more sociable.
You're still taking an existing person and making them into something fit only for servitude. It matters not how much you change it, only what you started with and what you did to it.

Quote
As it is, I see an opportunity here, in a compromise. We could have a force of public worker bug people devoted to us, while at the same time civilizing them, and making them smarter/more capable than their root being. We could make them enjoy serving us(though not necessarily bound to us like stems- we need souls), in whatever way we choose. Like a secondary population of willing-to-forgo-luxuries-in-service-of-god creatures. That way, they have some measure of freedom, will work for us implicitly due to their inbuilt faith, and count as citizens, essentially. I can't quite figure out a proper analogue for this. Zealots who serve their god because they love serving their god?
I really don't like the idea of binding beings to love us eternally. Not only does it sound not-possible and evil...as a practical consequence, imagine what would happen if the Empire of Tranquility found out about the possibility...

They're already reptilian.
Depends. Are these D&D trogs or DF trogs? The former are stinky lizardmen, the latter cavemen.

Or what'shisface the Jawa?
Jara.

Then why doesn't large animal life have chitin shells? Probably partially because lugging around effectively a suit of armor is hard work when you're large. When you're small, you don't give a shit because you're a goddamn tiny Hercules (beetle, that is).
Or possibly because creatures with chitin are pretty much confined to various types of arthropods, who for various reasons can't grow very large. Certainly a beetle or lobster's chitin can be almost armorlike.

Why are we plotting the creation of a whole range of WMDs? While we're at it, let's create a giant white-hot elemental fire golem, using fusion for energy, to simply burn everything? Cold would do nothing against heat that immense, and with a local source.
Excellent question. I assume it's because each side of various arguments keeps escalating the opponents' arguments.

(There is no way this could go wrong!)
Next Turn: They storm Dwarven settlements, eating all their already refined metals and gems, and excreting them deep in the jungles where no one can find them.
You're going to make me explain the joke, aren't you?

Quote
(There is no way this could go wrong!)
They will drain the ores and gems of the dwarven lands, eat the already refined metals and cut gems, excreting all they consume their burrows or in the jungle. Retrieving goods from either location is considered a suicide mission and is frequently undertaken by dwarves nearing the end of their lifetime; hoping to be useful to their families one last time. YOU DID THIS GWG.
Oh, please, that's an exaggeration. Surely that would require abysmal rolls or a GM who actively hates me. There's plenty of ways to make the dwarves hate me more without going to such extremes.

YOU DID THIS!!!!
Technically, you birthed the world from the Void, which then led to the Creation of GWG, which means ITS YOUR FAULT
No, it is not his. Neyaravah is it's own free thinking entity.  Your statement would only be true if the Overgod controlled every single action of the lower entities, which at current time he doesn't.
And I do not control any of the drakes, and therefore cannot be held responsible for their actions. I certainly never intended to decimate dwarven populations.

Have no idea what the "update" means.

(Please don't count that as my action for this turn, but it is kinda dense...)

Be surprised at update speed. Suspect personal time travel. Check calendar. Get sad.

Read turn.

Remember that this game is not logical.

Your eyes, adapted to the light of day
What kind of fortress is this?

Anyways...Locate shield, armor, or anything else of use before fleeing to the other door.

I MUST update tonight! MUST! NOT! RUIN! PERFECT! RECORD!

Use Thunder on Gyrados (It's super effective!)
[2+2v4+2] Pufferfish uses Thunder on Gyarados! It's super effective! It's not very effective...

Also, Clef. We're in trouble guise.
Oh, please. You were facing a Loki empowered by several other gods. That's something like if 239 got the abilities of 682, was processed by 914 on "Very Fine," and got glued to 963.

Join Miscellaneous faction, gain +2 bonus.
[5] You get a +3 bonus.

Kill tower Lich
[1] You manage to get killed by the tower. The tower lich wasn't even moving that part of the tower!

Continue eating portals and other things. Grow larger.
There are no portals left, but you [1] manage to eat yourself, causing a decrease in total power.

Find a way to channel some of my essence (the events of YAFB-I) into a vial of water.
[4] You find a way.

The magic girls shall summon their spear counterparts, the shonen protagonists(Ok maybe they are not spear counterparts to magic girls.)
[5] Great, more TV Tropes. Screw it; The Shonen army is coming tomorrow (if you remind me, else all bets are off).

Kill Sauron
[4v2+3] You fail.

Pray to God of Hats for extra hat-summoning powers!
Then utilise said powers to make a HatArmy!

((no, I am not giving up on this))
[4] Your summoning powers improve. [2+1] You summon 10...watermelons?

Pray to God of Hats for extra hat-summoning powers!
Then utilise said powers to make a HatArmy!

((no, I am not giving up on this))
HIJACK PRAYER
ACQUIRE WATERMELONS

[5] 10 watermelons summoned!

BOSS TURN:
Two minor factions are sucked into the shredded spacetime due to me not knowing what to do with them! Magma is retroactively drained to hide how I've forgotten it for a couple turns!
Gyarados uses Hydra Pump! [6+2v6] Critical Hit!
Sauron summons [6+2] The Master, Voldemort, Darth Vader, Cthulhu, Hitler, and for some reason Ned Flanders. These seven Dark Lords (well, six and Flanders) start arguing over who gets to lead.
Knight Tiger offers to join the Heroes, to fight these Dark Lords.
Anyone know of any other Dark Lords?

Huh. That's an odd law.

The ghost of Rakzad appears to Arthur.
"Well, this is sort of awkward, but it seems Billy just got himself offed, so we're now in the market for a new chosen one. You're not exactly ideal, but you do have some things going for you: you don't currently possess any sort of artifact of great power and are somewhat injured at the moment, so you fulfill the underdog clause; you're the only person to have survived since the first round as far as we are able to tell, so you have a touch of fate to you; and you're not exactly pure of heart by any means, but you don't seem intrinsically hostile to life, so you just about pass in that regard (though we will expect better performance in the future if our partnership is to succeed).
"So then, if you are in agreement, you may meet with our associate, Razdak, exactly 3 deaths from now. Otherwise, please let us know if you are not interested, so that we may pursue other candidates for this position."

"Um..." I think I heard something. Something I agree with.

Reinforce barrier, wish I had more than one throwing needle thingy.
Wait since his butter knife throwing thing uses one of my butter knifes, shouldn't that be gone?
No, because it's not a butter knife anymore.

You bet your sweet ass I'm back on that horse.

Respawn as a sixty foot long wolf, twenty tall, fifteen wide. Wielding a forty foot long sword made exclusively of blood diamonds... IN SPACE!
Crunching the numbers, this idea appears to be insane to the third or fourth power, give or take i^crazy.

I can also add shipping to my colonies specialities
GWG/Jbg97 4forever(I'll stop now)
Seriously, what is it with us and you?

Ah, we're starting from Square 0?
If so,
Set up some farms and search for edible plants in the woods. (Say, Morningglow?)
In not,
Request that GM describe where the colony is.
Nope.  You each have a capital, and have small towns that work according to what you asked for.  In the order from North to South, you can see who borders who.  You can make more towns.  If you really really wanted, you could name those towns, but I'm not remember that that town out in the middle of nowhere is there.
Amusingly, despite misunderstanding my question, you answered it. (I was asking about where in the process of turning from wilderness to metropolis it was.)

Quote

Your colony is in the forest.  I read morningglow as a huckleberry.  Is that close?  Obviously there are differences, like I don't know if huckleberries can be made into an alchoholic beverage.
I actually didn't base it on anything. Well, a little on sunberries, but not much.

EDIT:Send a message to both Meridia and Eisen asking for a non aggression pact.
I take that as a declaration of war upon Proelia. I advise you to reconsider.
Wait, what? Nonaggression with others is war with you? Do you want all the not-war to yourself or something?

Check status of Sun Wine facilities. Its our main export, after all. Actually, do a "routine" check on all industries. Don't start anything special just yet.

Colony Name: The Earldom of the Brave Romance
Name: Earl Timertikos Cardial
Region: Southern North

Why thanks, GWG! You just gave me a race of walking snacks.
Hm?
Bear in mind, they like the taste of ore and gems. Imagine how they'll react to metal...

Great creature design by GWG
Thanks.
