Forum Games and Roleplaying / Re: You are a new God OOC thread.
« on: January 27, 2013, 02:13:56 pm »
I had an idea recently, which I've been hammering out since then. It's not a short-term idea, mind you; it's a longer-term one.
I'm not sure about a good name for them, so I'll call them Spyders, because they're sorta like spiders. If you have a better name for them, pipe up please.

Basically, we would take a few spiders, infuse them with Chaos, and give them an ability to reproduce asexually like firejackets.
They would be colorful little spiders, which "bud" off little Spyderlings when subjected to enough heat. The Spyders would have exaggerated mutations, causing swift evolution. For instance, in the wet season, they might develop wider, flattened limbs for swimming in ponds, which could turn into wings after a few generations of the dry season. Their venoms and webs would also have varying magical properties, evolving over the generations. Their most notable characteristic would be that they can be "crushed" to extract a magical extract, which could be used in some Chaos potions or drunk to infuse the drinker with some sort of enhancement, or possibly a burst of mana.
TL;DR: Mutating spiders with magical venoms and webs, which have specially-magical extracts.

Seems like a nice, Chaotic idea.

And now I wondering if there a chaos, order god. How would it even work?
Very well, thank you.
Nah, he/she would kill her/him self
But that's against most codes of honor, as well as being kinda dumb.

Ok I exaggerated a bit but they are far from friendly nations, and people being people would call our "reappearance" a hoax or a terrorist plot, and these people are actively looking for elves to kill.
Well...
1. So? News spreads.
2. The presence of humans and elves in one settlement indicates some lack of tension between the races.
3. Rumors can be enough to dissuade people from taking a vulnerable female into a place which might be infested with monsters that just want to kidnap her and turn her into a monster.
4. Don't extrapolate a nation from a few people.
5. Seriously, do you think Weirdsound would have left a detail like that out?

I will go. Maybe we can get it to surrender, and then I can bind it like we did with the army.
Well, I'm working on getting some air units, and I'm sure that my raiders will be eager to defend their homeland. Perhaps Azem could create some fireproof units to counter the beast's flames. And if we had Cupiditas and Cecilla (My Fae Courtier of Fertility) work together, we could raise quite a sizable army.
Well, if the God of Undeath would be willing, I will allow him to (temporarily!) raise EVERYTHING that ever died in the North, using either the original souls if I have them or substitutes.
So...we've got Usael, an air force, fireproof shock troops, and a bunch of infantry, dead and alive. Now all we need is a way to get there, and ideally some heavy hitters. (I'd send the Eladrin, but they just had kids.)

On the other topic, I would like to say that, from an OOC perspective, there is little reason for gods having such crushing upkeep. The devils may not have as many worshippers(and Azaroth actually has more) but their boost from ratings puts them far above the gods. As is, every single god has less income than upkeep. Every. Single. God.
Agreed. If this upkeep is still happening when I go to sleep, I'm probably going to come in as a fae.

A liter is a thousand cubic centimeters which is...ah.

Well then. Small parts of dungeons only.

Good.
I want worshippers concentrating on me dammit. The old, wizened crow in a purple robe, not the busty redhaired naked woman emanating with an aura of concentrated sex.
You may be at a bit of a disadvantage there...

Ah, yes, another wheelbarrow improvement/expansion thread.

Something like this makes sense.

That's not what I meant - I meant what GreatWormGold said, as well.
Wyrm. GreatWyrmGold. A worm is a little crawling thing. A wyrm is a dragon.

As to the rest of what you said: I really have no clue how RL metallurgy works, so why don't we look up the rough ratios for that?

I think the reason you can't fast-travel over mountains is that they're supposed to be barriers to all but the foolhardy and brave. Obviously, this isn't implemented ATM; I eagerly await improved mountains.

DF Suggestions / Re: Fortress mode Slavery
« on: January 27, 2013, 01:20:03 pm »
Suggested a lot before, dwarves have tag's that show dwarves believe slavery is unacceptable. With goblin fortress's or random ethic tag's you may see some slaves but I wouldn't be surprised if toady had ethical concerns that just kept them out forever.
Remember, this is the Toady who made Liberal Crime Squad.  Not to mention Cross Stompers and I'm Voting for Myself (if you don't know, don't ask.)

The issue isn't real-world ethics, the issue is that there aren't really any dwarves in fantasy or fiction that practiced slavery -- they're generally portrayed as having a personal work ethic that prevents it.  Humans might, though, and IIRC there was some talk of social / ethical rules being changeable through play, so you could end up with a fortress of depraved and decadent dwarves who shave their beards, practice slavery, and so forth.
The bigger problem?
Dwarven views on slavery are stated in the raws. It. Is. Illegal.

Once/If dwarven cultural variations allow for that, or humans/goblins are playable in Fortress mode? Add it in. Until then? Don't bother.

Huh, I didn't know that. Maybe it was more widespread/affordable/whatever stuff, or anesthetics rather than painkillers in general?

I'd like to question why a plant would be unable to be farmed. Inefficient? Perhaps. Impossible? No. A farm is basically a person choosing where to grow something and then nurturing it. That's. It. It's pretty much identical to the conditions found in the wild.

Respawn as Mr. Potatohead.
Outfit self with war gear, and kill Tara.

You respawn as a normal person, grab the submachine gun, and...clicklicklicklicklicklicklick...[2] Your dry-firing it ruins the gun.

Stop possessing ShadowBonination.
Sure thing.

Wake up, and have a complete change in personality to where I am now, a gentleman.
[5] You sure are! And you're not drowning in juice!

Respawn and reclaim my stuff
Which stuff was yours, again?

Hip-thrust until I am free then. Then get quick-drying plastic shooter.
[3] The plastic cracks some.

Type in bullet-proof vest.
You get one.

Carry on breaking the plastic.
[2] Nope.

GM TURN:
The Shadowbomination, freed from ShadowDragon's possession, [5] pokes Vorthon hard!
The drysuit follows misko's tunnel connecting the pits to superBLAST, and [4v3] punches him.

Look dude, you're not spy. Blame Corai. Or kill the other spy. Until then you're team-stacking, and as long as you continue to break the rules the new ADMIN NPC will be angry.
Since when is having multiple spies on a team against the rules?

Quote
Actually, let's just say it's highlander.
...Huh?
